James Hay are always quite quick to answer the phone and compared to all other pension companies I deal with (as an IFA), the staff are very knowledgeable and usually have the answer. Dealing with Alex Copp today was a pleasure. He was polite, informative and solved the problem within a couple of minutes

I'm gobsmacked at how inept this firm are. My father passed over in October 2024 and James Hay held a sizeable SIPP. My solicitors contacted them for certain information......not sure 8f their phones don't work or they don't have email but a response before Christmas then nothing. No statement sent out as my father had passed! Well someone is dealing with his estate....oh yes my solicitors asking for information that you have not seen fit to respond. You are dealing with people who are grieving and to ve honest your customer services needs an overhaul. Only now after a lengthy phone call this morning chasing have they decided to send the paperwork over to my solicitor. I m9st certainly will not be reinvesting my inheritance with this company....forgot, all the while its in your account and not mine it earns you interest. I will be on the case daily to try and get this sorted out but feel this is not something I should be doing whilst greiving a parent.

"Inept, arrogant and untrustworthy"
James Hay are probably the worst financial company I have used. Their website is out-dated, inefficient and difficult to use (though it is now being rebranded as 'Nucleus'. I wonder why?).
Their extremely high SIPP charges have almost doubled in the past year and I have now left them for Interactive Investor who charge a fraction of what James Hay do - and for a more efficient, user-friendly, comprehensive service too.
James Hay's own 'service' was non-existent. When charges were due, instead of notifying me or invoicing me, they instead instructed my trading platform to sell MY shares to cover them - without my knowledge or agreement. There was no record of these charges in my James Hay account nor was any advice or invoice ever provided. I only discovered these sales in retrospect when I noticed that some of my shares had gone 'missing'. They were missing because James Hay had caused them to be sold without my knowledge or agreement - this also caused further losses in my dividend receipts because shares had been sold.
When I discovered this and initiated the transfer of my account to Interactive Investor, James Hay told me the transfer would take 30-40 days as "your portfolio is currently invested in assets". This was totally untrue as I had already converted all assets to cash to avoid that very situation. When I phoned to query this timeline, I was told that my cash had only been received that very day, despite the fact that I already had an email from James Hay saying that it had been received the previous week.
Thankfully, I will never have to have any dealings with this inept, arrogant and untrustworthy company ever again. I regret I did not transfer away from them sooner.

I had many details i required to get full details on our clients Pension Drawdown account.
