"BEWARE and BE PREPARED TO LOSE YOUR… The other part is that 4 of the numbers transferred and the remaining ones did not. If they are all on the same account, all or none would transfer."

BEWARE and BE PREPARED TO LOSE YOUR PHONE NUMBERS!
Their service works great, BUT DON'T EVER TRY TO LEAVE . I tried 8 different times over 90 days to move my numbers and they kept saying the address was incorrect, even though it was the only address ever provided.
They were NOT RESPONSIVE and did nothing to transfer out my numbers; numbers I had for many many years.
I followed their transfer instructions, I spoke with customer service multiple times, and nothing, and no one, ever helped. When the contract ended, I was told it was "TOO LATE TO TRANSFER OUT".
I was a customer for multiple years and had good service. However, when I chose to leave they came up very short. There was NO SERVICE, NO HELP, JUST EXCUSES!

"Just Don't"

Navigating the waters of VoIP services, I found myself anchored with RingCentral. Here's a candid account of my experience:

1. **Service:** Their service is, in a word, "meh". You'd think that reaching out for assistance would be a straightforward process, but oh boy, you're in for a marathon. Brace yourself to spend a good chunk of your day waiting and trying to get some real help.

2. **Pricing and Features:** Their pricing model? Also "meh". Unless you're part of the Fortune 500 club and have a craving for a buffet of countless "features", you might find yourself wondering where the basics are. Can a business just get a working phone and that good old voicemail without the bells and whistles? If you're seeking simplicity and affordability, let me drop two words for you: "Google Voice". You get what you need, without watching your wallet bleed dry every dawn.

3. **Prepayment and Renewal Traps:** Decided to prepay for an entire year to grasp those enticing savings? Well, tread carefully. Cancel the next day, and watch your money vanish into the black hole that is RingCentral's refund policy. And don't get me started on their auto-renewal tactic. One day you're toasting to the end of your contract, and the next, you're greeted by a fresh non-refundable annual bill. Yes, they got me on that – twice.

4. **End of Life (EoL) Surprise:** Just recently, I was gifted a delightful email from RingCentral. The highlight? A dreaded "EoL" tag for my phone. If you're scratching your head, EoL translates to "End of Life". And honestly, it mirrors the exact sentiment I've harbored each time I've engaged with them. Come April 7th, 2024, my phone will embrace its obsolete status. It's akin to Ford informing you they're plucking out the steering wheel from your car, rendering it a mere driveway ornament.

5. **Online Presence (or lack thereof):** It’s telling that RingCentral lacks a Google business listing. Perhaps it’s a testament to their aversion to candid reviews or maybe it’s an oversight. Either way, it speaks volumes.

To wrap it up, despite my glaring review, I suspect RingCentral won't bat an eyelid. Their seemingly impenetrable veneer to critiques leaves customers like me sharing tales of caution. So, if you're considering RingCentral, this has been my journey. Tread carefully.

UPDATE: As you can see RC has responded.

Thanks for your response. While I understand the importance of the Terms of Service, I want to stress that consumers nowadays expect transparency and simplicity. It's not just about having these terms available, but about presenting them in a way that's clear and easily understood by everyone.

Suggesting that customers "read the fine print" feels like a deflection rather than addressing the core issue. A more straightforward approach in the initial stages could have prevented such concerns. Additionally, who in the hell doesn't expect at least a partial refund of a year's worth of prepayment if they change their mind within the first six months?

When someone is being pitched the "savings" that comes along with prepaying a year, it's probably not a bad idea to just toss in there, "Oh, by the way, if you decide to take advantage of this savings and change you mind tomorrow... we won't give you a penny of your savings back."

"Unscrupulous firm"

Unscrupulous firm, even though I have been a customer for over 10 years. Makes it difficult to leave. Auto renews without ANY upcoming renewal notifications at all. Once they renew, you are in another contract. No idea how they get away with it. Staff are only interested in upgrading you, charging you more, and extending your contract. Infuriating company to actually deal with.

Yes, their initial terms define a period of contract. This is fine. However, at the end, most firms leave you in a rolling month by month. Some may increase cost on flexible plan. All offer the ability to easily leave. Ring Central make it very very difficult to leave and obscure renewal dates deliberately. It is sneaky, underhand and greedy.

"I have tried over and over to figure out if there is a plan that allows for more than 5000 SMS to be stored on the ringcentral server"

I have tried over and over to figure out if there is a plan that will not delete your SMS messages once they exceed 5000, but NO ONE and I mean no one can answer me. Sales switches me to support. Support does nothing. My account "rep" doesn't return emails. My question is simple: "Is there a RingCentral plan that will allow us to have more than 5000 SMS messages on the server?" Please help

Hello, your reply points to an article that references Archiver. I've tried archiver on both Google drive and drop box. It exports every SMS message in chronological order. There is no way to search the SMS messages or follow a text exchange between my company and the customer. This is not a solution unless there is a way to make look at archiver and see who is on the other end of the conversation and all of the SMS messages between the customer and my company. Please offer some actual assistance that is valuable.

Added 09/14/2023: an email that was sent directly to review @ ringcentral.com

Attached screenshots show what is created in Drive, which is the same thing created in drop box. There is no way to tell who the message is from or any way to search by sender. We simply want to be able to see an SMS conversation organized by the person who sent it. As it is now, archiver creates hundreds and thousands of useless files. Please help. Or just create a plan that allows us to purchase more than 5000 SMS saved on the ringcentral server. That would be the best solution for us.

Thank you,
John

"I feel like I was robbed"

Signed up for service 11/22 to integrate it with Ad Sales Genius. Was assigned phone number I soon found out was formerly belonging to a psychiatric center serving school systems, and the public. Contacted RC rep multiple times via email to complain and tell him we cannot use this number, and we have never made a single call outbound or advertised a RC number, and finally in March of this year they gave me two whole months credit, refused to cancel account because of contract, gave me a new number which I really didn't want and no longer can use, the ship for onboarding into ASG and training my team sailed last year. Answered recent survey, told it what happened, they call me, swear they are gonna sort this for me, so I get a voice mail from somebody there, call back, same old song and dance, I can't cancel there are two more months to go. So Ring Central took $2400 from my small business for a service I could not use, would not help when I needed it, changed number when I did not want service any longer, and forced me to pay or they would sue me. Stay far away from them. We were inundated with desperate calls from spouses, parents, mentally ill people needing help, school counselors needing services for children, it was traumatic and Ring Central could not possibly have cared less. Hope they enjoyed our $2400.

Edit: Don't let their reply below fool you, until I posted on complaint sites they could not be bothered to do anything but take my money, and they won't leave a number where I can actually call the person back who tried to call me, even after emails asking them for a number. Odd for a VOIP company to not want to give a number and extension to a "customer" isn't it? They don't want to resolve this, they just want bad reviews to go away.

Edit: Today, IF I continued to be a customer, they offered two months credit, which I refused, then they said they would cancel the remainder of the contract, which is, by the way, ONE WHOLE MONTH left. If I could post the screenshots of the voicemails from desperate people seeking psych care for little children with suicidal ideation, trauma, intellectual disabilities, people seeking marriage counseling, and more, I would attach them for all to see. Ring Central did not care in the least about these people, the impact on us dealing with these calls, all they cared about was making sure I paid them for a flawed service and lack of support. Terrible company. Run!

Update: First, they email me this after about a dozen calls and emails and agree to refund:

Hello Mike,

Hope this email finds you well.

Key Elements:
RingCentral retentions team approved the cancellation of the account scheduled on 10/3/2023
The refund request will also be processed after the account cancellation
ERT spoke with the customer and confirmed the updates from the retention team
The customer requested an email as proof of the said agreement
ERT sent a message to the retention team supervisor advising her of the customer's request
Current Action Item – Owner – Expected Timeline to Completed/Updates

Action Item 1 -
Item: Account cancellation request
Owner: Roland Angoluan
Expected Time Frame for action item: 9/11/2023 between 10 AM-12 PM PST
Current status of action item: [Open]

Next ERT customer contact:
Date: 9/11/2023
Time: 10 AM-12 PM PST

THEN, they sent email and left voicemail trying to weasel out of the amount of the refund...

Today Ring Central flagged this review "because they don’t think it’s based on a genuine experience."

I kept receipts. I have all of the voicemail transcripts from Ring Central of desperate people looking for help for their marriages, schools needing help for a child with intellectual disabilities, another for trauma, another for suicidal ideation. If TrustPilot let me post photos I would put them here for all to see.

"Can't Reach Technical Support"

Good:
The onboarding team was incredible. They spent as much time as needed to configure our system exactly how we needed it.

Bad:
When initially trying to sign up, our sales rep was unresponsive. I called and emailed several times and he refused to call me back. I called the sales line and requested a new sales rep. I spoke with a supervisor who refused to transfer me over to a new rep. Our sales rep finally called me and we were able to sign up. (This should have been a sign).

We had some recent changes and needed help configuring our call queue and users in the dashboard. I've called the customer support line three times this week. Each time I have spent over 2 hours on hold and nobody ever picks up. I spent 2 hours on hold Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday before getting fed up and hanging up.

I emailed our onboarding rep and account (sales) rep multiple times. I have not received a single response from anyone. I called the sales line and immediately someone answered. I explained my situation and she tried her best to help. She was able to help with users but not the call queue questions I had. She transferred me over to technical support. It took 50 minutes but someone from technical support finally answered. He did an amazing job in answering my questions but to get a hold of a technical support rep has taken nearly 7 hours of my time this week.

All other forms of communication (chat & email) have been useless. When our contract comes up for renewal it's doubtful we will renew, especially when the main competitor is known for their excellent customer service.

***8/30/2023***

After leaving this review, I was immediately contacted by a representative at RingCentral. My issue was resolved. It should have never come to this like many others have posted. Since my issue was resolved, I'm bumping up my score from 2 stars to 3 stars.

Overall I like the system but am still concerned about the ability to reach a customer service representative when I need one. I'll post an updated review if anything changes.

"Watch for Termination Fees"

I signed up with a 2 year commitment 3 years ago. I canceled now and they are billing me for an additional 14 months early termination fee. Customer service has been unresponsive.

TERRIBLE customer service... they will suck the life out of you and leave you frustrated and unhelped. The system is HUGE and requires a dedicated person with IT skills... if this isn't you - stear clear.
