"Overall happy but got hacked"
I received an email saying my order would be complete in October, 200+ negatives to scan or thereabouts. Then got notice it was ready in
April. The product was fine, except 2 larger negatives of school groups that turned out fuzzy, poor resolution. Overall I was happy, except that my credit card got hacked afterwards. I don't use the credit card frequently so I attributed it to this transaction.

I am very pleased with ScanCafe. After having reviewed several other digitizing companies, I chose ScanCafe because their pricing was fair and they laid out in clear detail how the process works, from sending the photos in to receiving them back. I felt like I knew what i was getting into.
I sent in over 1200 pictures and they only charged a max of $14 shipping. They showed before and afters of the photos and their technician adjusted the clarity and lighting of photos that were otherwise blurry or washed out. Wow! The difference was AMAZING.
After receiving my end product, I was displeased with some of the slides I had sent in and and how they turned out as photos. I contacted the customer care team and they were extremely helpful in resolving the problem without making me feel like a bother. They re-scanned some of the blurry photos free of charge and gave me and amazing end product that I am very pleased with.
I will be using this company again and referring many of my friends!

First, the good stuff. Very helpful support staff that was actually available ! Decent turn around time - although that is not usually an issue as most people's "memories" have sat around in boxes for a couple of decades so what's a few extra weeks ? Quality of scans seem to be generally good - the high definition option is probably worth doing, although the resulting image file sizes are pretty big ! Like 20 megs each ?!
What would I improve ? Ability to organize images into subfolders before downloading them. They do not keep images organized (in the numeric sequence on the film strips) within the "folders" they create so it becomes much harder to check that they scanned everything. Also, they could do a better job of returning materials (in my case strips of color negatives) in the same order and sleeves I sent them in. Again, this just makes checking things easier. Maybe saves them time but costs me time.
