"A pleasant surprise"
Recently I signed up on GreenGeeks to host my site, "tpvite.org". As a starter, I picked the cheapest plan, and didn't expect too much. To my pleasant surprise, the service is exceptionally complete, and the support is prompt and effective. A web site skeleton was quickly set up via the automagic of WordPress (there are many other options that I don't really know much about), and I have set up SSH and SFTP access in no time. The control console is filled with great options; for me, the most pertinent are database tools and the availability of git. I am yet to try many of those options, but I have high confidence in them, honestly. The GreenGeeks is clearly done by a very experienced and high quality team. Since I am just starting, there is no traffic whatsoever, hence I can't talk about performance yet. But given my initial experience and the sense of their caliber, I have few reasons to be concerned. "Difficult to cancel auto-renew and payment method."
I am 78 years old. I primarily work with websites for personal enrichment and to keep my mind active. I am not in the business of building websites for others. Whenever I subscribe to a company that provides website-building utilities, such as GreenGeeks, I must be able to disable auto-renew. I do not want my wife to get unplanned payments deducted from our account should I pass away. My GreenGeeks account was coming up for renewal and I could find no way to easily cancel auto-renew or remove my payment method so that it would not be billed. I found the process of working through chat messages and the back-and-forth of confirmation messages burdensome and frustrating. I may have renewed with GreenGeeks if that an auto-renew disable feature was obvious and easy for the subscribers to use. I made the choice to go with another web hosting provider due the my difficulties controlling MY choices.
