"Not impressed (to put it politely)"

I met with Paul Gates from PB, I was impressed and put my daughter's house with them for sale in early November. To quote Paul's email ' I pride myself in offering clients a first class service throughout the process'. I did ask the obvious question before deciding to pay upfront, ie 'What motivation is there for you to make any effort if you have already been paid '? Paul's reply was that a poor service would lead to a poor review which was obviously something they could not afford. Well here is my review.... Initially there was a delay in erecting a for sale board. I chased Paul on 19/11 as it should have been placed by 12/11. He later copied me in on am email exchange with Tsidi Lesapo who was apparently my account manager (I had assumed this would be Paul).Tsidi replied to Paul 'Do they want a board?' Paul confirmed to her that every client should have a board erected within 7 days. 26/11 Still no board. I chased Paul who copied me in on an email to Tsidi suggesting it would be quicker for all if we dealt directly with each other. 2/12 I emailed Tsidi as still no board. 5/12 I emailed Tsidi as still no board. She replied she had been on annual leave and had not been able to reply previously. She said they had visited the property but no one was home and no one replied to a phone call. I replied I didn't understand why they needed anyone to be home. No request had been made for anyone to be present. I also stated I had never know this to be necessary previously. 10/12 no reply received to my email and still no board. I emailed both Tsidi and Paul. 12/12 no reply from either, no board. Contacted head office to complain and a board was erected within 2 days. There was no interest at all in the property , not one enquiry let alone a viewing right up until yesterday when we called PB and asked them to take down the advert as we had decided to try another agent. I accept PB cannot do more than market the property. However what was unusal was that an identical property in the same street , on the market for £10K more than our asking price , had multiple viewings during this period and has now sold. It seems obvious that something was wrong with whatever system PB claimed to be using when there are 2 similar properties in the same street and yet only one of them gains any viewings. We therefore decided to cut our losses and change agents. I was disappointed that there was no contact with Paul Gates throughout the sales process as I had been led to believe he would be dealing with the property. Obviously the communication (or lack of) that we received was totally unnacceptable. As a final note I emailed Tsidi on Monday of this week, 24/02 to ask how we should go about ending removing the property from the market with PB. To date I have not received a reply.....

"Misleading sales pitch"

Totally mislead. Paul Gates from Purplebricks made a good impression, listing his extensive experience in the industry. He convinced me that he would guide the entire process of selling the house.
As soon as it was listed he refused contact, and referred me to other people in Purplebricks. The viewings are apparently organised through viewber, with completely random people accessing the house, with no experience as agents nor any interest in selling the house!
Obviously I would never have signed up if this had been clear!

I can not speak highly enough about how my sales progressor Rebecca Marie has been. She has supported me throughout the entire process, calling me regularly when I have asked her to and keeping me up to date and making the process as painless as possible.

"Con you out of money "

Although you pay your Solicitors to do ID checks and Money Laundry, Purple Bricks have made it their 'Company Policy' and charge you £80 to do the checks. Although other Estate Agents do ID checks they absorb the costs and I've also had one that accepted the Biometrics from my Solicitor. I informed Purple Bricks my solicitor can pass all the details on and that I wouldn't be paying the additional cost as a buyer and they were quite rude and blunt. Told me I have to pay it otherwise they will remove the offer and inform the seller. I have looked into this and looks like it's another con and just a way for making money. Really not happy and the seller was not impressed either... So much so decided not to go ahead with Purple Bricks. Very poor service and not a good company to use. I would avoid.

I made the appointment to view my mums home more than two weeks prior to the date but on the day I received a phonecall saying they had no-one in the area and could I do a virtual tour myself and send it to them. My mum has no internet or broadband facilities and so it was difficult for me to do with my skills. I wasn't happy that they did not turn up and as a result I will go with someone more reliable.

Giving five stars because of the excellent estate agent I had. Charlotte (North Yorkshire) was amazing. Really responsive to my questions and queries no matter how big or small. Made me feel more relaxed about buying my first home and knew so much about the house and surrounding area. Made the whole experience of buying a home less stressful!
