Awful. Simply, awful.

A complete lack and breakdown of communication from start to finish with total disregard to their clients/customers care and wellbeing in which is already an extremely stressful time (i.e. purchasing a property).

Not only is their communication amiss, but they have members of staff/representatives who will quite happily mock and treat their customers inappropriately. From hanging up on phone calls when politely asked for updates, ignoring emails, undermining and patronising customers knowledge of the process and consistently using the excuse of "I have over 300 emails, what makes you think yours is important" - it's quite something that Hodders have managed to hire someone as awful as Norma Wright.

Perhaps if Ms Wright spent more time doing her job and not slagging off her "customers" on LinkedIn (only takes a quick Google) then maybe she wouldn't have so many unopened emails.

In all seriousness, I could go into the nitty gritty of details but I'll be leaving that to the Legal Ombudsman and SRA regarding the formal complaint I left back in May, that of which still hasn't had a formal response. Please, read the experiences of myself and others over the last year and take full note. If you have your conveyancing case delegated to Hodders by a Property Law Specialist - contest it and refuse! It'll save you a lot of sleepless nights, headaches and uninvited anxiety.

This is all I get, no work is done unless called and emailed several times a day, its painful on how much you need to prompt them to do simple things. I'm still in the process of buying a property using Hodders law, we're so close to the end but also our sellers are close to losing the property they're buying, purely because of Hodders law zero communication policy.

Comfortably the worst experience I have had dealing with solicitors.

I had two different solicitors for sale and purchase, neither would engage.

The solicitor for sale opted to not forward on enquiries for 4 weeks, never responded to emails, would introduce herself at the beginning of emails clearly forgetting we had been dealing with her already and was profoundly offended at the concept of doing her job. Her laziness ended up delaying the sale by 4-6 weeks meaning we missed the stamp duty holiday.

Solicitor for the sale, also reluctant to respond to emails. Once waited over two weeks to respond despite several chaser emails and calls. When they did respond she called me Paul, my name is Mike…

"Absolutely awful"

Absolutely awful.
If I could give them 0 stars I would.

You have to chase them every step of the way. They "lost" our paperwork and simply expected us to obtain another copy. It wasn't until my dad had to physically go to the Wembley office and discovered our paperwork was sitting there under a pile of other paperwork on someone's desk.

I'm still waiting on our land registry paperwork and we completed back June 2021. Still chasing now, it's ridiculous..

No one answers the phone. Communication is an absolute joke. You just get ignored all the time.

Couldn't have been a worse process.

We had a separate flat sale and house purchase -

House Purchase - the housing developer had to threaten to put the property back on the market to force Hodders to do anything after 3 months of doing nothing (a process which the developer said usually takes 4-5 weeks). Settlement figure was over £6k out, if I'd not double checked the numbers, we'd have been out of pocket.

Flat Sale - still not gone through, has taken over 7 months and there is no chain. Simple mistakes made on a regular basis, total lack of communication and I've pretty much ended up doing my own conveyancing with the buyer.

Without doubt, the worst conveyancing process I have ever experienced. Have submitted a formal complaint to the regulator (SRA).

"Utterly useless"

Utterly useless. Delay Delay Delay.

One excuse after another. Ignore emails, Dont reply to messages, and most importantly never actually do any work.
Conveyancing with this awful firm just drags on month after month after month. If you are ever lucky enough to get a call answered its just the same every time. "Yes, we are nearly ready, you will be contacted in a few days. " But a month later you will still be having the same conversation.

We wanted to complete (like so many others) on the 30th Sept the last day of the stamp duty holiday and Karen made it happen on time as promised.
