"Long delivery times + unresponsive customer service"
My package - promised in 5-7 days - took over 20 days to arrive. Customer service was very responsive when I had questions before placing my order, but they've gone AWOL since my order arrived so late, and aren't replying to my emails on the matter - I think it's unfair that I paid a high price for delivery that took 3 weeks and was well over the promised timeline but they are completely unresponsive.

I ordered Potts Lamb stock on the 20th Jan and was sent Knorr stock. They charged £7.40 each. Every time we contacted them to complain they responded with the same patronising blurb that is repeated several times in the message.
Guess what, even now, If I send another complaint about the non delivery, I will receive exactly the same infuriating response. It appears they are using a poorly AI generated response. Thankfully we found another supplier and ordered the same product for a fraction of the price at £2.80 each and received it the following day. These dirty scamming outfits should be struck off by the trading standards authority and not allowed to continue trading. We are still waiting.
Their order confirmation started with the following.
"Hi Tom, awesome news! Your order is in our hands now, and we're getting it all set for your shipping.
We can't wait to get it to you." The rest of their message gets worse.

"It's not hassle free and there is duty to pay"
The website says clearly "Enjoy hassle free shopping with zero import and customs charges for Austria. The goods were expensive a anyay and came slowly in 2 deliveries. I had to send details of the order to customs - that's not hassle free. I also had to pay 28€ customs duty. I never ever had any such issues with British Corner Shop. That was the first and last time I'll shop with British Essentials. A total expensive, inconvenient let down. Never again.

"Problem with customs, now resolved"
Made an order to the US back in Nov 23. Arrived relatively quickly, but was delayed in Customs. We were then told that the package had to be destroyed.
Were talking cans of Heinz soup, Cornflakes, Ready Break and so on!
Contacted customer services who did respond by saying they would check into the issue. Even though I provided all the official proof. Weeks later I am still chasing, then being told that they will reship through an alternative shipper, but still no update or confirmation! I do not ask for much, but better lines of communication and actually reading the emails we sent would be appreciated.
I will update my response if I ever receive my goods. I am so disappointed at the moment, as it is the little things from back home that mean a lot.
Update 02/09/24 - I have just received my order, which is fantastic, everything in order and good shape and it only took 2 days to arrive from UK.
If this is how their normal service is, then I would rate it at 5 stars. But since I have been waiting for a resolve for 2 and a half months, I will not at this point.
I can only assume that my original package was damaged in transit, which is why it was destroyed by customs and this is what caused the whole problem.
I understand these things happen, but thank you British Essentials for getting it finally resolved.
