Despite the weather preventing the completion of my hut to hut walk, the support, advice and detail of everything Bookatrekking did was second to none.

For the most part, everything worked the way it should have, however, there are some things with bookatrekking that I am not a fan of. Halfway through my Alta Via 2 trek, I became ill with the Norovirus and was unable to continue my trek. I contacted bookatrekking to let them know that and asked if any part of the cancelled rifugios or my hotel room at the tail end of my trek would be refunded. They said no because it was within a week of when I was to stay at the places. I understood with the rifugios, however, the Hotel Doriguzzi is a different story. I contacted bookatrekking 5 days before I was supposed to have this reservation, and according to the hotel (And the other hotel booking sites for this hotel), that was within the parameters for a refund for the room type accommodation that I was to have. My take on this is I was given a quick answer with no research being done to avoid having to look into it, so although a minor thing, I feel I was misled and I am owed money by bookatrekking. In general, I was satisfied with bookatrekking, however, with that said, at times their attention to detail was not where it should have been. As an example, one the rifugios that they have listed on their website that I would be staying at changed. They claimed that they were unable to secure reservations at rifugio Puez and changed it to rifugio Firenzi. I found this odd since I gave them the go ahead and deposit in October of last year, so there was plenty of time on their end to get me in at Puez even if they started making the reservations at the beginning of the year. My point is that they nobody bothered to mention that to me in a subsequent email or any type of communication. I saw it by going through my itinerary, which is no big deal, however, that is something that I should have been told about. The other thing that really annoyed me was the fact that I was supposed to receive the Cicerone trekking guide for the Alta Via 2, which was part of what I am paying for. I reached out to them in spring to let them know that I never received it and they told me not to worry, they would be shipping it out. I never received it. I reached out again in July letting them know I would really like this guide in advance to study it since I am leaving towards the end of August, and their response was, we have a method for doing things and will mail it out in August. A week before my trip I still did not have it, and I reached out again and they said it was mailed and that they can't control the mail. What they can control is when they mail it, especially since I was paid in full well in advance. The book arrived while I was on my trip, so I never had the opportunity to look at it or take it. I could have just bought one myself, however, the point is that this is part of the agreed upon price. At times there is quite a lag in communication responses, and a lot of times after waiting for an email response, they did not even answer the question that I had asked. There is room for improvement.

Our experience with Bookatrekking was exceptional. We were a group of 10 strong, with ages 11 to 70. Their reservations and informative pre hike communications and data proved to be reassuring and helped all of us with our preparedness.
I will use Bookatrekking in the future!

Bookatrekking provided a very detailed itinerary that was a great help in planning for the trip. The itinerary included contact information for each hut along with distance and elevation profiles. Also included was a route overview section that acts as a quick look guide for each day including distance, ascent/descent and estimated time. This was followed by a very detailed description of each stage. This was a great help in preparing for the trip.
In addition, each hut was also described in detail.
The huts were expecting us and in general were very clean and welcoming.
