" Definitely recommend "

When I phoned to say that I had a blocked drain, the lady that answered was so helpful, I was out at the time and asked if someone could come the following morning. She said it would be arranged and that I would get a phone call in the morning from who would be sorting out my drain, which I did. He said that he would be here in half an hour, and he was. He was friendly and helpful and had the drain sorted and all cleaned up. I was so pleased and would definitely recommend to family and friends Thank you.

"Don't bother avoid at all cost."

I contacted this company because they were listed on the WaterSafe website, as we had an underground leak where the water mains enter the house. They quoted £95 per hour. The engineer arrived at 10:20 but sat in his van on his phone until 10:40. When he finally came in, he briefly looked at my floor tiles, said they might contain asbestos, and left by 10:48. He then sat in his van again for quite some time.

They later sent me a bill for three hours of work for this visit.

When the asbestos test team arrived, the technician brought in his lunch bag and a dirty screwdriver that he seemed to use for everything. He stabbed some glue on the floor (since the tiles were gone) and claimed it contained asbestos, requiring a specialist team to remove the floor. They estimated two days of floor repairs, plus additional work, quoting £3,700+VAT but warned it could be more.

At this point, I contacted another local company for a second opinion. Their engineer came out free of charge, identified the issue, and repaired it without any asbestos test being needed.

When I raised these concerns with customer service, I received the same generic response: "We are deeply concerned and will investigate." I have this on CCTV and was told to email them a copy. I've also asked for a breakdown of costs so far. They’re demanding £570 for an asbestos test that I suspect is invalid, given the poor handling with that filthy screwdriver.

On top of this, they appear to be breaching the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 by providing misleading and inflated bills for labor that wasn’t carried out. They also seem to be in violation of The Price Marking Order 2004, as they didn’t include VAT in their initial quotes, which is required by law for any business dealing with consumers.

Their job sheet claims 4 hours of labor and £96 for the asbestos test—3 hours of the engineer sitting in his van and barely 5 minutes of actual work. Avoid this company at all costs!

"Do not use this company"

Do not use this company. Poorly structured franchise. I called their main number explaining my domestic sewer pumping station had stopped working. They charged me £120 (1st hour) before sending someone out. When the guy arrived he instantly said he doesnt deal with pumps and he doesnt know why they sent him. On the file it states drain pipe issue!! He wrote a small report based on limited knowledge and information (pleasant enough guy, but wrong person for the job). Metrorod then provided a further quote for the tank to be pumped out and to try and diagnose the problem again. 2 people 4hrs at £650. This wasnt to fix it, just for some more umming and ahhing! I quickly cut my losses and didnt take up this offer and got a reputable company in instead.

With the same information I initially provided to Metrorod, the other company took 1.5hrs, problem fixed. Metrorod are now refusing to refund the first call out charge, even though the sent someone without the correct expertise. As it was an emergency to get this fixed, it also wasted 3 days where I could not use my sewers!

UPDATE: WHY PROVIDE A LAZY AUTOMATED RESPONSE. I HAVE JUST GIVEN YOU FEEDBACK ON HERE. READ IT... SIMPLE - LISTEN, TAKE PROPER NOTES OF THE ISSUE AND SEND A QUALIFED ENGINEER TO FIX THE PROBLEMS IN FUTURE. CLEARLY NO FEEDBACK IS BEING LISTENED TO AS THE SAME ISSUES KEEP REPEATING ON TRUSTPILOT!!!

"Excellent service all round"

Excellent service all round! Many thanks to everyone from the engineer to admin at the Mid-Wales branch. Metrorod was efficient, friendly and professional. It was the only company we consulted (and we had a few!) that listened to our concerns, accurately assessed the problem with our septic tank and offered a clear, transparent and cost-effective plan to resolve the issue. Highly recommended.
