"Experienced au pairs and fantastic customer service"

Not only did we have an abundance of au pair profiles to choose from that met our criteria, but Cultural Care's agents were incredibly proactive in reaching out to guide us through each step of the process. We have matched with a WONDERFUL, experienced and family-oriented au pair from Mexico and we can't wait to greet her in a few months!

"Great experience overall!"

We have had a great experience with Cultural Care. We are just finishing up two years with our first au pair and have recently matched with a second. Great support for us and our au pair, user friendly platform, and good communication with the company. One suggestion to CC is to provide au pairs a refund if they have to go home due to no fault of their own. We met an au pair who had a bad experience with a family, was unable to rematch, and had to go home and was not refunded her fee from CC. This seems unfair to au pairs. Overall, would recommend the service!

"A rough go"

This time around in trying to find an au pair has been a whirlwind of frustration. Some of which was out of the company’s direct control, some of it was in cultural care’s control.

Communication: The turn around on my questions and requests dragged conversations out from what I thought should be hours to days. This delayed our ability to make informed decisions, ultimately causing us to be forced into a three week underlap in au pair coverage. I had one email never answered, if I had multiple questions in an email, the harder questions wouldn’t be addressed, I had to resend texts, and if I responded to an email immediately after receiving it, at very best it would take 24 hours to hear back.

Follow through: We were having issues getting candidates to connect. We were promised by two separate CC reps they would send us potential candidates. This never happened. Waiting for expected help that never comes taints trust and confidence.

Failure to Connect: We had a 90% denial rate. (No exaggeration for dramatic effect, 90%). While this is not in Cultural Care’s control, understanding why we had this rate or any insight in how we could market ourselves better was not provided. Cultural Care has the ability to provide this transparency, but instead we got vague rationalizations. Which leads to the next point…

Tone: When we submitted questions as to how we could be more successful within the system set up by Cultural Care, our problems were not met with solutions, but met with generic cheerleading. I do not need encouragement, I need answers. When the messages being received come across like something an adult would say to a frustrated teenager who can’t get a job, I no longer feel like I have a partner working to solve a problem. I need a fulsome conversation with ideas, insights, suggestions and potential paths forward. What I do not need is head rub and a “you’re doin great” speech.

Billing: I made inquiries regarding some of the discounts in our billing last year which we did not receive this year. When asked, the response was vague at best, and seemingly didn’t comprehend my question. My follow up inquiry went unanswered.

Search: We were talking with someone else in the program about not finding connections. They pulled up their account and were able to find candidates we were not able to. Curious, I contacted Cultural Care about this. I never heard back. Why we couldn’t find rematches or au pairs looking to spend another year in th US, I have no idea.

As an experienced host family who have had nannies and an au pair, this year is by far the worst experience we’ve had.
