QDOS Breakdown

"Read the small print! Very poor service."
Read the small print!! Your not covered if your vehicle goes into limp mode. Currently stranded 200 miles from home and QDOS expect me to travel up the M5 and M4 travelling at 30mph.
Pay a bit extra and get decent cover for your vehicle!!

"Complete nightmare"
Complete nightmare. Having taken out 2 weeks cover for a tour of France, when our van's battery completely failed, they refused point blank to help because we "hadn't notified them beforehand".
From their attitude, it sounded as though this was a common occurrence.

"Good and prompt service"
Good and prompt service. These guys arrived at the scene in 45 mins. Towed my car to the nearest garage and arranged a pick up for my family.
Would recommend them.

"Avoid Qdos"
Avoid Qdos, had a problem, car would not start. Phoned the number supplied with the original cover, nada, you aren’t registered. So opted to check my account online, yep all paid up. So eventually after other expensive means I got my van going. Anyway I decided to contact QDos and all they offered was that their phone number had changed to the one I called, and that seemed to satisfy their benign little excuse. I’ve asked for a refund of my premium as the lack of due diligence is unbelievable. If I don’t receive it I will take it all the way to the relevant ombudsman. Mickey Mouse company, avoid at all cost.
Edit 26/10/2023
Qdos have now accepted and upheld my complaint, they acknowledge the fact that their renewal policy failed to notify me correctly of the change of breakdown telephone number on renewal of my policy. Qdos now claim they will make changes to their system so this does not happen again. I have received a notification that I will receive a full refund of one years premium and that my breakdown cover will be cancelled with immediate affect.

"AVOID!"
AVOID!! Flashing engine light on the car in which the AA advise to stop the engine and arrange for roadside assistance. Rang QDOS as this is who our policy is with who asked many questions one of which ‘can you move the car forwards and backwards’. The answer to this was yes, however explained that the car was not suitable to drive as the engine was also not running smoothly coupled with the engine light warning. Was told no one could be sent out as we weren’t covered as the car was still drive-able and if someone was to be sent out and the engine could be started we would be charged £100 on top of the £80 call-out fee. So the solution is to drive an unsafe car and potentially cause an accident and harm to ourselves and others? OR pay £180 for assistance? Whilst paying for a membership? Absolute scam and make you feel backed into a corner. The man we spoke to was less than understanding and had absolutely 0 customer service skills. Safe to say you get what you pay for and we will be reinstating our membership with the AA. Terrible, don’t be caught out by this company.

"Very fast response and great communication."
Very fast response to request for roadside assistance. Kept in touch to advise progress. Breakdown mechanic on site within 30 minutes. Quickly diagnosed problem which unfortunately he was unable to repair but said he would try to arrange tow to local garage. However I was able to get help from garage and problem fixed by next day.

"QDOS - How bad can a company be !!"
QDOS !!! Where do you start ? I know in this day and age social media is the first place that some individuals go for the smallest of gripes, however this is not normally my place of choice, However I feel so strongly regarding todays event that I feel all fleet owners should steer well clear.
We run a small fleet of vehicles for the care sector and rely heavily on our chosen partners to support us in maintaining a viable business with a reliable service, today I have seen the worst customer service and greed.
Initially we called in on 15/09 to report a vehicle that had broken down, only to find that we could not get our chosen garage to accept our vehicle until 18/09. we called QDOS back to cancel recovery and were told to recall today.
18/09 called QDOS and advised a vehicle had broken down and we required recovery (I did not at this point advise we had been told to call back today) the call handler was shall we say less than helpful from the first point of conversation. It was explained that the vehicle was immobile due to an array of red warning lights (that in the handbook advised to stop immediately and turn the engine off) which the driver had done, I was then brow beaten on the matter of if the vehicle started and could be driven, to which I several times advised we did not know as we could not drive the vehicle in its present state. I was then told I WOULD HAVE TO PAY £100.00 if on attendance it was deemed the vehicle would start!! I politely but reasonably argued the case. The next clause that was thrown at me was that as the report was more than six hours after the breakdown they had thrown my claim out, it was at this point I furnished the details of the prior call to them and prior conversations.
I then went through the speak with the line manager procedure and maintained my experience in a firm but polite manner and was repaid with the phone call would be ended speech, which basically meant "I have no answer to my point of view"so will end the call. The final speech from a fantastic customer service team!! Well done QDOS how to repay a customer who has never made a claim on their policy over a number of years.
However on a final note I then attempted to complain about the service and lack of vehicle recovery to the admin team this being lunch time today 12pm, assured I would have a reply, its now 8 hours later and not a sniff of a resolution let alone a reply.
Thank you so much for not assisting in keeping our community carers mobile who serve vulnerable customers or at least explaining why you won't honour your breakdown cover that you gladly collect the policy price for.
Worth paying another company to recover the vehicle, as you can presume this policy will never be renewed.

"THE WORST BREAKDOWN COVER COMPANY IN HISTORY"
I had covered my fleet of company vans for roadside assistance. We have made two calls to have a spare wheel changed roadside after my employees both hit potholes hidden by huge puddles. Both occasions we were told they wouldn’t come as this is classed as an accident. I went with QDOS as they seemed to be cheap in a competitive market. I found out why they are cheap. I have told multiple businesses on 12 forums I’m part of, where we share useful contacts and reliable companies, that they should never touch this company with a barge pole. The biggest rip off and a fraud of a company. NEVER AGAIN

"AVOID They don't answer the phone!!!!!!!!"
I needed a breakdown service and they never ever answered the phone! This is supposed to be for emergency breakdowns and I was in desperate need for help but could not get through to them AT ALL! After hanging on the phone for 40 minutes I gave up. Contacted the RAC who answered very quickly and helped.

"Policy with no excess - No service"
I have been Qdos for number of years with policies where you pay excess for calling a recovery. They were brilliant as I paid for each call out. Once I thought of doing it one off payment rather than excess pays and guess what? I am so naive to thing they will give the same service. They renewed it easily, without highlighting the difference, that this time you must be in a car that cannot move an inch, for a customer making the switch. if your car is dangerous to drive and things going wrong, if you can move even slightly you are on your own regardless where you are, if you have work to go to, a child with you .. Because their policy wording makes them more sense and saves money than the common sense. Otherwise who pays underwriters all that money! SAFETY, INCONVENIENCE, CARE secondary. Cannot even cancel useless policy that cannot rescue me!
