QDOS Breakdown

"Top shelf performance"
Please let me thank these people for again making my breakdown insurance renewal both easy and quick, apart from also being offered at a very competative price. A special thanks to their employee Samantha who went over and above the call of duty to help me. Barely had the "ink" dried on my emails, she fires back each and every answer I need. She does QDOS proud !

"Worst service imaginable."
Holidays in Italy. Travelling by car through multiple European countries to destination. At German border with Austria, red warning on dashboard. Called Qdos. Very unfriendly person started quoting me my limits for recovery and travel to "manage expectations". Recovery would be within an hour. After an hour rang again. No recovery truck available and no garage to tow me to. All garages full. They asked me to arrange a garage... Explained this was the job of the insurance company.. Despite, went on the internet and found dealer of my car near by in Austria. Rang dealer and they were very helpful. Rang Qdos. Was not possible to take me there as I was in Germany. Explained I was just 5 minutes away from the border. No response. Asked for a hire car to continue to my holiday destination in Italy. Not possible as Qdos does not supply hire cars for traveling across borders into other countries. Explained I bought European cover. Still no luck. After 4 hours waiting rang again. Still no truck. No help of any kind in sight... Got in the car and tried... Red warning gone. Drove to dealer in Austria... Never again Qdos.

"AVOID AT ALL COSTS"
QDOS international breakdown policy not fit for purpose. Car stuck in Europe, QDOS agreed to repatriate the car four weeks ago but still nothing happening. Told it could be another 8-10 weeks. Three months plus to repatriate vehicle an absolute joke. In conversation with FCA and the Financial Ombudsman. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

"Shocking International Breakdown Cover"
Shocking International Breakdown Cover. Avoid! Avoid! Avoid!
I thought that by going through a household name such as Compare The Market I would be buying a vetted product from a reputable company. Alas, when we had an issue in Andorra (offside trim came off and was hanging down which would only require someone with knowledge to either clip back on or remove) it took over 6 hours and 10 calls to get assistance - despite the fact that the operators were advised that the car had broken down on a narrow mountain road nowhere near civilisation, with rapidly fading light (first call just after 5pm and assistance arrived at 11.15pm) and that a passenger in the car was a recent heart attack victim that needed to get back to their hotel for their heart medication. At one point (9.40pm Andorra time) we were even asked to call back 20 minutes later because their International Breakdown Team changing shifts - no concern for our circumstances (Thank you, Rhett of QDOS). It wouldn’t have been so bad if it didn’t take between 10 and 25 minutes to get through to an operator on the International Breakdown Desk!
When the roadside recovery did arrive, it was not roadside assistance - the gentleman had a Toolbox with just a dozen spanners and some pliers (I took a photo) - and initially had no intention of providing roadside assistance beyond loading the car onto his flat bed truck to be taken to a garage to be fixed 2 days later (his garage don’t work on Sundays!). Eventually he agreed to take the trimming off the car, which he did with 2 pairs of pliers!
Rest-assured, a formal complaint will be registered with QDOS and AXA when we return which, if necessary, will be fully escalated.

Went to obtain a quote for European breakdown cover and noticed it only covers vehicles that are less than 9 years old. I think this is ridiculous policy!!

"Advice join the aa"
I pay for my friends break down for her as she's ill. I simply worry about her.
I paid £83 for what I thought was a good policy.
Including national recovery.
Roadside and a lot more.
Ok she sadly broke down..
Was told her car would take a week to be recovered and she could take a 7 hour train journey home.
Frankly this is shocking
I had to call them out for myself and it took over 6 hours for someone to turn up.
It was a normal week day. Not bad weather and again I found this very poor. Must say man that turned up was great.
I feel for my friend as the stress does her no good. Luckily she is safe. But a response of oh that will be a week and get the train is terrible
I will be with the aa from next year
For the sake of a few more pounds it's probably worth it.
Really poor
No qdos given
I did contact you, she was only left for 4 days not 7.
And got compensation
Seems 165miles is class as a long enough distance to cause issues with national recovery.

"Thank you so much for your exceptional…"
Thank you so much for your exceptional service that you provided in a horrible situation. A big thank you to Lily Hagans who arrange for our vehicle to be collected from a garage to my home after a horrible ordeal with them since it broke down. Qdos was understanding, helpful and the recovery truck arrived within the hour! When your in your hour of need you really do rely on a decent recovery company and this company excelled to the point I’m going to renew with them in September after such a great experience. Can’t thank you enough!!!

"Quick and easy, they go the extra mile"
My car broke down and I called them for roadside recovery on Sunday night. The operator was very polite, and assured me that while they usually arrive within 90min, because I was alone at night, they would prioritise my case and try to arrive sooner.
While waiting every 10min I received text updates about the dispatch, including live tracking. The driver was quick and careful to load the car, and offered me a ride in the passenger seat.
He went the extra mile to carefully push the car into my parking space by hand, and tried and jump start the battery, even though it was pouring rain.
No hassle clear insurance policy, great service, recommend!

"Still the best"
I've already given QDOS five stars but just wanted to add this. I had a tyre blowout on the M4 last weekend. QDOS support was there within 20 minutes. Quick change to emergency spare tyre and good advice about how to get the damaged tyre repaired. This is by far the best breakdown service I have ever used.
