We were given a detailed quote prior to hiring them and we asked to be informed whenever there would be extra fees incurred. We did receive this on occasion for the odd small extra but when we got our final bill we paid 3x our quote. I complained to the solicitor Sarah, and the MD which resulted in a few charges taken off but not all. Furthermore the process was so slow as well plus I didn't feel comfortable asking questions- they were very unapproachable.

"Terrible Experience - Avoid this Company"
Despite being promised in their initial pack that there would be expert guidance and communication throughout I do not feel I received this. I had to continually chase them just to get the simplest of tasks completed. The online portal never worked for me. Conveyancers are continually on annual leave and there is no-one to cover their work when they are away. After the buyer pulled out of the sale I was hit with extortionate abortive fees, which I paid just so I could terminate my contract with them. The invoices I received were not clearly itemised. Having asked for a copy of my sales file I found that their costs really aren't justified for the little amount of work that was done. I had questions about my sale which I never received satisfactory answers to. In fact, I found my conveyancer Sarah to be unfriendly and cold towards me the entire time. I felt that I was being a burden rather than being represented as a client. As a Shared Ownership customer I used Bennett Oakley as I believed they had a good relationship with Southern Housing so this would speed up the sale. From my experience this was not the case. I knew that selling a property would be stressful but I never expected to feel the level of anxiety that I have done over the last few months through using this company.
