"Cleaner didn't show up, no compensation what-so-ever"

Do not use this 3rd party to book a cleaner. My cleaner didn't show up to my 7:00am appointment. When I called (after being on hold for 10 minutes) the Mopp team offered a reschedule 2 days later or a refund - zero compensation for the inconvenience they caused me, their mistake and obvious mismanagement (mistreatment?) of their staff. If they had offered a free cleaning as compensation or had worked to reschedule a cleaner on the same day I would have considered using them again. Now, I definitely will not. They obviously do not value their customers/new business at all.

"Poor service"

My response to Mopp, having been told that I must have a smile on my face after my clean
(Funny that the cleaner did not turn up)

Dear Laura

I have used Mopp for about 4 months, because I'm often not at home, one off cleans work very well for me as I don't need a full time cleaner.

The first cleaners I used were OK, some variability in the work achieved in the time allocated, but that Is too be expected.

However since September, 3 booked cleans have resulted in 3 No Shows, only one of which reported to me by Mopp, with the last 2, the cleaner just did not turn up. And Mopp took the money anyway, so it was down to me to chase credits/refunds etc etc.

It looks to me if Mopps vetting procedures are lacking, one no show might be acceptable, but 3 indicates to me that you are having problems

"DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!"

They are horrifically disorganised and simply use sub contractors so they have no control over exactly what they are selling. They send you a confirmation email and take payment but then it means nothing! In fact, someone told me in these very words 'yes ignore the your booking is confirmed email- it means nothing and just means we will try and find you a cleaner'!! Yet they will debit your card straight away. Complete scam and complete mockery of customer service. I am so shocked at how terrible this service is. I would highly recommend Mr Banana instead who are reliable and with whom you can actually speak to a human who cares - they saved my skin following being 100% let down by Mopp. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE BUSINESS- THEY DO NOT DESERVE IT!

"Very positive first experience!"

So, after booking my first appointment for today earlier this week, I had my reservations after reading all of the negative comments on here. So much so that I contacted Mopp/Handy support about it. They assured me that they're doing everything they can to resolve the issues reported here.
Nevertheless, I always like to judge a service on its own merits, so went ahead with today's 4 hour booking anyway.
I'm very glad I did. The cleaner arrived 15 minutes early, was very courteous, and did an excellent job. She even added some lovely touches like folding my kids' blankets (that they'd left stewn) into a nice little pattern, and even folded the end of the toilet paper into a point, like they do in good hotels.
I have nothing but praise for Justyna, she did an excellent job.
The reason for only giving four stars rather than five, is that after only one visit, things could still go wrong, for instance if the company decides to switch my cleaner or screw up the schedules - which I hope they don't.
Only time will tell, however, after the first visit, I'm very pleased.
(Meanwhile, I'm aware that after receiving a good service we, as consumers tend to not always write a review, but after poor service we tend to shout from the rooftops, so that may explain the bias towards negative reviews here.)

"£40 for nothing"

I used Mopp earlier in the year for a one-off clean, and they were fantastic. When I needed to replace our regular cleaner I thought Mopp would be an easy choice. However...

- they cancelled the 9.30am Friday booking after 9pm on Thursday night, saying they would reschedule me for the Monday (useless as I'd booked time off work to meet the new cleaner on Friday, and couldn't do so again on the Monday)

- they then sent an email on the Friday morning saying my next booking was the next Friday, so I assumed that contrary to the night before they had not actually rebooked me for the Monday

- they then emailed me with details of the cleaner coming on Monday (which was a surprise!) after 5pm on Sunday - too late to cancel without incurring a £20 fee. I had to cancel anyway as I wouldn't be at home to let the cleaner in

Meanwhile, 2 lots of £20 left my account, for absolutely no service whatsoever.

Mopp's marketing is good, but it doesn't live up to its own hype. I'll look elsewhere for a reliable regular cleaner.

Having now read reviews here from people who worked for them, it seems they treat their cleaners with even less respect than their customers. Another reason to avoid!

"Left us Moping"

Firstly, the lady was 1.5 hours late. Secondly, the excuse she gives is that she missed some buses due to rain. Now even a traveller like me knows that the weather in London is very unpredictable and this excuse just can't be bought. Now let's come to the cleaning bit. The interest wasnt fully into the job. Yes, she was chatty and trying to have a good time but that was it. Left us quite dissatisfied.

"UNRELIABLE, DIDN'T SHOW UP FOR FIRST APPOINTMENT"

After two telephone calls in which they told me that the cleaner was late and that I should be patient, I called the company a third time (2 hours after the agreed time) and a different customer service person, who did not have any idea about my previous two calls, told me that the cleaner will not show up and that she did not have any idea of the reason. I needed really help with the cleaner that day, because I was waiting people and the time was not enough to clean and cook, and this company failed me. First and last time that I will try this company!

"RUBBISH-UNRELIABLE DIDN'T SHOW UP FOR FIRST APPOINTMENT"

I thought I would try this service and booked online. When I booked I requested that my own cleaning materials are used but when I got to the payment stage it had added £5 for cleaning materials.
I booked a 2 hour clean but the cleaner didn't show up.
I have requested a full refund. Wouldn't use again on principal. Waste of time. AVOID

"Time wasters, avoid at all costs!"

I applied for a cleaning job with Mopp and came to their office for my orientation. Towards the end of the 2.5 hour presentation, we (myself and the others applying to be cleaners) were left waiting while the office staff held a conference call and popped bottles of champagne. I struggled to get the app to work on my phone and was told i'd be called the next day to sort it all out.
I left and when i got home was really happy to see that i had an email saying i was now a verified Handy cleaner and could start claiming jobs. I cancelled the two other job interviews i had.
Still unable to get the app to work i waited for a call all the next day. When it didn't come i emailed over the next two days a total of 3 times, the final time i emailed my concerns at the lack of communication i was receiving.
I then received a very curt response saying that i didn't have enough experience and wasn't being taken on. Having already been told i'd got the position i thought a mistake had been made so emailed back highlighting this fact and the fact that i have over 4 years professional domestic cleaning experience. Another few days went by so i emailed again and got another curt response saying the decision was final.
Now if i'm not right for a position and i am told that's fair enough. To be told that i have got a job and then when i express concerns about communication for it to be taken away is really terrible. I gave up two other interviews as i'd been told i got the job.
In my opinion everyone's time is valuable from a cleaner to a doctor and to treat people in this way isn't right so please avoid Mopp in the future and choose a company that treats people with the respect they deserve.

"Awful customer experience"

I'm currently on hold to Mopp and have been for 30 minutes, after my cleaner was denied entry into my building and Mopp waited 50 minutes into the booking to call me. When they did call me they left a voicemail with no direct dial number and told me if I didn't resolve the access issue in 10 minutes the cleaner would leave. That was 45 minutes ago, 30 minutes of which I've been on hold to their new call centre.

Don't use Mopp if you want a consistent, reliable cleaning service with great support.
