"Zero competence and worryingly poor account administration"

Forced to use this shower as it's our company's sharesave provider - pretty much the worst online share experience you'll find. Just impossible to find my account details - no proactive communication after setting up a brand new account via the automated system, meaning I can't log in. Calling them you'll find that all their departments are in silos - they don't talk with each other and can't even transfer you through. I privately bank and invest with a different supplier and they are night and day better than these. Plus, calling Equiniti costs an arm and a leg - they have no normal or free numbers and will keep you hold for ages. If you are thinking of voluntarily getting an account here - for the love of all that is holy, don't.

"When Selftrade"

When Selftrade, there was a history of stop losses not firing which caused significant losses for me. Selftrade offered me a meagre compensation which I reluctantly accepted due to ill heath and the thought of having to deal with the ombudsman/legal paper work was too much to consider at the time.

Now eqi - and still not impressed. My ISA account has mysteriously disappeared from my dashboard (although I am using the preferred Google Chrome) and the only comment I get is "never seen this before". I ask "can you get someone from your IT department to call me" and I get the reply "no - they don't phone customers"

I also agree with other reviews where its stated that eqi appear to control when stocks can be sold not the customer. Their excuse is is always "trade size" but I have relatives who have sold the same stock at the same time with much greater trade sizes.

I want to move my accounts to another broker but of course eqi what to charge a not insignificant fee for each holding.

I could continue regarding a number of other issues but i think I have made my point.

"avoid !"

Opened an account when they were self trade. Have my money tied up in there and my logon details now don’t work had another pin sent out and that doesn’t work. I haven’t been able to trade for two weeks because of this problem. Phone line takes an eternity to get through if you do at all. Last time I did a lady had to put my on hold because her dog was barking in the background. I know COVID is putting pressure on businesses but they’re coming over as really really unprofessional. I’m asking to close my account but am now being told there’s all sorts of forms to be filled in. Avoid if you can

"One day ago I reported "Tried logging…"

One day ago I reported "Tried logging in today but secure...."

I am afraid that EQi's response only further emphasises their arrogant management culture and lack of interest in customers. Above all I wrote a review of a very frustrating experience with the Selftrade/EQi web-site. To me your response only suggests that I am ignorant of https. My browser clearly stated words to the effect of 'WARNING! POTENTIAL SECURITY RISK',.... get me out of here'.
Like many (ex) Selftrade users I have the previous url (for selftrade.co.uk) bookmarked in my browser. As one might expect the url worked satisfactorily with Selftrade. Until this weekend it also continued to work with the new (to ex Selftrade customers) EQi site. You did not give explicit warning that the selftrade url would require modification. I found this, not from your advice, but by time spent Googling and eventually finding an answer to the problem on Stackoverflow (is Trustpilot to become the new Stackoverflow for Selftrade/EQi customer problems?). Your reply would have been better received had you taken the time to investigate and inform me, and others, that a change to the url would be required by 15th of March. Please do not blame customers for being ignorant of your unpublished changes. From this experience and your response I can only join others in recommending that prospective customers AVOID EQi. For my part I will continue with my move to another trading platform. If you decide to provide another answer this response you might include, for the benefit of prospective future customers, details of the cost of your ISA exit fees (when transferring out of EQi to another platform).

"Poor, avoid"

I've been with Eqi and its previous incarnation as Seltrade for years. Their website is clunky and viewing dividends well-nigh impossible. As an infrequent trader I could just about put up with it but now it won't let me top up my ISA. Attempting to make a debit card payment generates the message "We were unable to take a payment. Please call a member of our team on 0345 0700 720". As someone with a speech impediment I don't use the phone so I can't make a phone payment. Their website says that paying by BACS takes 3 days (why 3 days, when BACS is between instantaneous and 2 hours?) so their incompetence is blocking me from trading.

"I had an account for over 10 yrs"

I had an account for over 10 yrs. Selftrade used to be good but since takeover from EQi it's been a steady decline. Old and new website are from the 90s, fees are ridiculously high (paying for their obsolete infrastructure?) and it's even a headache searching for securities to trade. Strong AVOID. I'm transferring out.

"terrible new website"

terrible new website - keeps crashing, or can't get in.
Friday it was almost impossible to trade, online dealing system was down or kept saying we can't get a price ... well done in failing in your MIFID2 best execution obligations.

"Poor customer service"

Why are you wasting money on rebranding the website when you can't even get the basics right, such as responding to secure messages in a timely manner?

I sent you a secure message on 03 February regarding a serious issue and still haven't had a reply, or even an acknowledgement!

"Selftrade do what they state on the tin 'generally'."

Selftrade is a reasonably good low(-ish) cost broker that generally does what it commits to do without some of the unnecessary bells and whistles other brokers offer. The online system is quite basic, fairly reliable and reasonably simple to use. They do get it wrong or fail from time to time, often take an age to fix issues and are quite slow to make small incremental improvements. No organisations operate without apparent faults but overall I find Selftrade to be one of the better platforms.

"Selftrade is a great platform I trust…"

Selftrade is a great platform I trust for managing my investments. I have held both an ISA and trading account with Selftrade for several years now and I am happy with how easy it is to transfer funds between my two accounts. The fees charged are also reasonable compared to similar trading platforms and the alerts and emails I receive are also helpful for managing the accounts. My only negative is that it takes around three days to transfer out money to a linked bank account.
