Staff contacted me to remind me that warranty was due for renewal. No pressure for me to renew but contacted me again to offer a time and date convenient for me. Engineer called to advise his arrival time. He was polite and helpful. Experience so far with this Company has been very positive.

"Stair lift keeps leaving me stranded"

I initially chose Halton Stairlifts because I thought I would receive better service should anything go wrong. Especially after reading their 'About' page.

However, my stair lift has left me stranded 3 times, at the top of the stairs, halfway down & then again at the bottom. After the 2nd time an engineer did come out & checked everything over but couldn't find anything wrong.

Now it's happened a 3rd time, I emailed them yesterday with the code. They called me this morning to say that the chair is now technically working & if it happens again, to call them & they'll be out within a few hours.

When this happens, the hand controls nor the remotes work & there's no bleeping warning sound!

I explained it's intermittent & I could be stuck when a nurse calls & I wouldn't be able to let them in, I wouldn't be able to get to my medication etc.

It's fine though because technically it's working!! Even though it leaves me stranded & Halton have no answer. Surely there must be someone there who can investigate why this is happening & find a fix for it?

So thank you Halton, for appearing not to care when something goes wrong. I'll just wait for the next time it happens shall I & be prepared to sit half way up the stairs for who knows how long, without food, drink & medication?!

Living with terminal cancer & ever decreasing mobility issues, I bought the stair lift to make my life easier. Now all it's doing is to make me worry what's going to happen when it stops working again. I should be able to use it with confidence & I had hoped that Halton would want that for me too!! 🤨

I've noticed an earlier review where another lady had the same problem, so it seems Halton don't want to take the time to address this fault.

Thank you for your call today. I note that you mentioned in your reply that the fault had now been fixed. However, when the engineer came he stripped the chair down & couldn't find a fault. So in a little over a month, it has happened again. I put it to you to contact the manufacturer regarding this intermittent fault and the fault code F6.

I look forward to seeing your engineer again on Wednesday.

Very pleasant and efficient engineer came on time to fit the stairlift and engaged with us over the fitting of it. He was careful to fit everything and checked each detail of the alignment and function of the device. He then made sure that my elderly mother could get into the seat and operate the stairlift up and down, and alight as appropriate. He fitted the extra rail to prevent trips and assist alighting at the top of the stairs, and cleaned up after him. It seemed that nothing was too much trouble. We can't recommend him warmly enough. We are delighted with the stairlift, and I have a very happy 96-year old mum!
