Southern Guarantee Moving and Storage

"Bait with low estimate and tack on extra charges"
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. This was my first long distance move, and I had to use the cheapest company due to my limited funds. It is not worth it, especially since the movers will tack on extra charges. Go with a bit pricier and more reliable company, you will not regret it!
The sales people at S.G. are pushy and reassure you there will be enough space. They even added an extra 25 boxes (total 35) to my inventory just to make sure. After packing everything, I was EXTREMELY under my estimated inventory (10 boxes, and all furniture listed on my initial estimate).
When the movers arrived (giving me 20 minutes notice, after Southern Guarantee said they would give 1 hour), they said there would definitely NOT be enough space. They encouraged me to bribe them with a $150 tip each, so that they would pretend like it was fine. Instead, I removed three hefty pieces of furniture from my inventory, and it fit within the limits according to the two movers.
They called their boss for final checkout, and he said I was not within the limit because 2 lines of the truck was 400 cubic feet, and I was only allotted 268, so I was charged an extra $430. It defeated the entire purpose of the low estimate, and there was no way my estimate would accurately fit my inventory despite the salesperson assuring me it would (I was literally TWENTY FIVE BOXES BELOW MY ESTIMATE).

"Check reviews before you sign!"
My wife and I mistakenly agreed to sign a binding estimate with Southern Guarantee Moving and Storage without checking on their reputation with the Better Business Bureau as well as numerous customer reviews on several websites. Before you sign or pay anything to Southern Guarantee Moving and Storage, do yourself a favor and read the numerous customer complaints. First, you need to know that Southern Guarantee is only a broker, they don’t do any actual moving. Their estimate includes the statement “. . . please read Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move, and Ready to Move Brochure provided by the moving company and seek further information at the government website protectyourmove.gov”.
After reading these documents, I quickly realized there were several red flags associated with Southern Guarantee. First, Southern Guarantee did not provide us a list of the carriers they contract with. Based on customer reviews and photos of damaged goods, I believe this is because they do not want their customers looking them up in advance. The brochure states that you need to check whether the interstate mover is registered with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and has a U.S. Department of Transportation number. It’s difficult to do that if you don’t know what the company’s name is. As of 13 August, 2022, Southern Guarantee Moving and Storage has 67 complaints and a grade of “F” on the Better Business Bureau website and a score of 1 out of 5 on Yelp. They are not a BBB-accredited business. When I called to ask them me who they had tentatively contracted our move with, they refused to tell me. The second red flag was when their contracted carrier contacted me and stated that he would be showing up in three days (on the wrong date) to start loading and packing. The gentlemen who called me would not tell me the name of his company and stated that they would have our 4-bedroom home packed and loaded in a single day. The third red flag was when I offered to pay the carrier to visit our home in advance of the move to confirm our weight and cubic feet requirements he said it was a waste of time. I later find out this same carrier has 18 years of scamming people out of their belongings and threatening to unload or keep their belongings unless he receives more money. His reputation with at least six different moving companies in at least three different States had been following him since 2004 in New York.

"Fraudulent estimate be careful"
***REAL CONSUMER REVIEW***Do not go with this they broke binding contract, and you lose deposit if you don’t let them move stuff so you’re in a corner. And they do not care I have attached list for items they were suppose to get and we were quoted for so basically we lost money on this transaction. Call movers directly don’t go with them. We spoke with q&a a couple days before they increased price so we thought we were good as long as we didn’t add items. But no they couldn’t even take all the items listed. I’m honestly disappointed I ignore the bad reviews. Please pay attention to this comment. And I apologize to the lady I was upset with I know she just caught in the scam to. TRUST ME DONT GO THIS ROUTE TRUST. *** They claimed we were getting a good rate bc someone cancelled , they are good sales ppl. Lol *** now we are going to be stuck with a furniture removal fee from our apartment smh

"Scam"
Scam. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They will tell you whatever you want to hear and will outright lie to get you to sign up. They are a broker, not a moving company. They will quote you the lowest price possible, then take a non-refundable deposit. This money is their brokerage fee, not to pay the moving company. Despite telling you the exact opposite, the actual contract you sign basically says that they don't know when you'll get picked up, they don't know if the moving company will do it for the price quoted, and they don't know when you'll get your stuff delivered. We had a pick up window of 7/29-7/31. We called every day and were told they were definitely arriving the next day. No call, no show each day. By 8/1 we had to make other arrangements to move from Texas to Florida. As of 8/11, we have still had no contact from Southern Guarantee, and we are out $4200. If they have done this to you, file a complaint with the BBB and the FMCSA. If you want to file a claim in court, it has to be filed with the Broward County Clerk of Courts, and the resident agent to be named is Bethany Cook. It will likely do no good, but the more complaints there are on record, the less likely it is that someone else will get scammed.

If I could give this company MINUS 5 stars I would. I have been lied to, ignored and this morning I called to request copies of the documents / contracts I signed as they were never given to me and became unviewable after I signed. My phone call was greeted by Jack West in the Philippines who told me once my "load" was picked up they could not give me any of those documents as per company policy. I point blank said, I signed legal and binding documents and your policy is that you will not provide them to me. He said that is correct. I requested to speak with Sam in QA and was told he wasn't authorized to put me through. My first contact was with Nick who of course was impeccable in his customer service. He was able to give us his Managers $700 discount (yeah right) as well as a Military Discount. He gave his personal cell to us and responded to it when we made an inquiry. We gave Nick an estimated inventory and had to put down a down payment deposit of $895.00. Signed and done. Next we were serviced by Tyler. He is the "final inventory" guy but didn't disclose that once he submitted his paperwork no changes could be made so our inventory had items on it that we were not taking and it should reduce the cost. Based on the items removed and boxes added our fees increased (of course they did!) This increase required an addition $314 deposit. Signed and done. We were locked in at the current inventory and price $2409 which was explained to me by Sam in QA. She further explained that she would receive an actual bill of lading by which we would compare and if an adjustment was necessary it would happen at that time. We had issues with the scheduled pickup truck. It broke down so a confirmed pickup is now delayed. I did have assistance from Brittany and Stacy in QA / dispatch trying to find another truck for me. Brittany said a truck had been arranged for the original date. Called trucking company and they told me that their schedule was not updated to reflect that change. She stayed on the phone with me while I called Southern Guarantee and conference call. What a nightmare trying to get through. Finally, Stacy confirmed with me that there was a miscommunication (fancy word for a lie) and that the truck would not be there on the originally scheduled day but rather the next day. When the truck arrived guess what ..... more money needed! My son was told he needed to make a payment at pickup of $1800 and at delivery another $1300. In order to take his child's changing table and a large plastic bin they charged us an additional $340. WHAAAAAAAT? I have a contract..... Oh wait no I don't because I cannot get a copy of it. Paid another $667. It has only been 1 week today. Truck is on its way but no delivery date. The kids had to leave half of their stuff that was on the final inventory. It's flat out a scam. I don't know how people can look at themselves in the mirror. Come in to my parlor said the spider to the fly! Believed the nice guy trying to help me on the phone. And let's not forget the hours spent on the phone trying to get information. I will be working very hard to warn people about this company!!

"Horrible Experience"
Horrible Experience. It’s been 44 days today since the pickup , they (Southern guarantee moving and storage and their authorized sub contractors ) have not delivered my stuff.
I am still waiting :(
They don’t give any tentative date as well.
Pickup was done on 6/18 , first date of delivery was 6/24 , today is 8/01 and still waiting for my stuff to be delivered.
My family and small kids are suffering :(
I have been living in an empty house from last more than 1 month with my 2 small kids and in a very frustrating situation .
They don't care about customers.
I have done contract with them to move from Tennessee to NC only 540 miles. They keep saying that my stuff is in Georgia public storage.
I am extensively following up from last 2 weeks with them and they are not helping in to expedite .
I am requesting here to Southern guarantee and their sub contractor to help me and my family and please expedite the delivery.
Please think 1000 times before doing any contract with this company.

"Absolutely do not use this company"
Absolutely do not use this company. I signed with them under the agreement that they were an ownership and operative company and using their own vans— they are not. They are brokers that hire the first available people to move your things. I expressed my initial concern of the previous horror reviews but ultimately decided on them because of the extremely low cost I was offered. I never received a confirmation call. The company they brokered me out to, map express logistics, has even worse reviews than them in the hundreds. I ended up finding a costly last minute alternative and when I called to express my concern and inquire about receiving my deposit back the woman was extremely rude, unempathetic, and irritable. She yelled at me that I will not be getting my deposit back then hung up. DO NOT USE !!!

"BEWARE"
BEWARE! We are moving my parents to Fl. We signed a binding moving est. on 4/25/22. We were given our list of items (51 pc) for a certain price. We were asked to wait until 7/22 to move bc they already have a delivery in the area.
A week before we received an email stating our move was scheduled for 7/22 & we would receive a call on 7/21. NOPE! We did not receive a call the morning of p/up. When we called customer service, they would say the driver would call us shortly. We waited all day. At 7:30pm, we received a call from the driver. He stated that they just received the request from S. G. Moving & he would not be able to pickup the items until late afternoon on 7/23. Because the new home owners were scheduled to move in on 7/23, we had to move my parents items to the garage & driveway. The driver finally arrived at 5pm. At the time of signing our contract, we were not told of a 3rd party driver.
As they started to load the items on the truck, we realized they had no moving blankets. They only came with wrap. My parent's furniture is wrapped in plastic with no blankets. In addition, they start talking about cu.f. I told them this did not apply to us because we have a set amount. This is when we learned of the scam the company was running. The amount ended up costing $4K over quote. They can't tell us when they will arrive. We were told in April it would be door to door (F-M). Another lie!
When I called to complain about the additional fees & delivery, I was told this company was not Amazon. They had no projection time of delivery. I mentioned the door/door promise .He told me that employee was let go. He said he wasn't responsible for the additional cost. I asked for the owners' name. He said; "you don't go to Chilis & get the owner's name". I asked for his boss' name, he hung up. There is no way they can be rated a 2.73. Moving multiple times in the military and this is the worst. The employee indicated their business is "just fine". I am not sure how?
