"We used this company and was assured…"

We used this company and was assured they would answer all our questions and when we would call, we were hung up on or they would say they would be there and never show up for pick up of our stuff. It took four days for them to get our stuff we were quoted a price and it went up 600 on pickup. It took countless phone calls and took them a month to deliver our items. On delivery they charged us 150 more. They went through 3 different companies. Our Tvs were smashed. This is a scam company and i would not use it. They were a nightmare. They positive reviews are from their employees and people they pay to post positive reviews. DO NOT USE THEM. THEY WILL SCAM YOU FOR MORE NONEY ONCE THEY HAVE YOUR STUFF AND THEN MORE BEFORE THEY DROP OFF TOUR ITEMS!!!!!

"Do not use this company"

Do not use this company. It is nothing but a scam. ask for money upfront to start the move - they don't mention than that any money you put down is non-refundable. they told me the movers will have a scheduled day with a backup day, movers did not show up either day. When I called customer service, they said the money is non-refundable even though no movers showed up which they acknowledged, and they state they cannot guarantee when the movers will be there. Total fraudulent company. stay away at all cost. Taking legal action against this company.

"A broker! Hires subs! Scams you for your deposit"

I'll keep it simple. Do you want to pay Southern $2000-$3000+ dollars ("deposit") to make a single phone call to an aggressive unprofessional sub contractor who will attempt to further scam you? Does that sound like a value?

What an absolute joke of a company. They masqueraded as the actual mover at no time clarifying they are just a broker. Unprofessional outsourced call center who are unable to actually provide info. Outright lied about things like stairs (cost) and timing for delivery (days not weeks).

Don't use this company at all. Just call an actual mover directly and read reviews. I did neither of those things and am paying for it.

"I found souther guarantee by using…"

I found souther guarantee by using Google and I got fooled by their good reviews.
When I spoke to an Agent, he asked me to kis ny items, which I did and I even told him how they looked like and their size, his name is Greg and he said he just needed to know amount of items, and estimate of amount of boxes, he NEVER said anything cubic feet, and he gave the whole explanation that his price was not an estimate, that it was a binding agreement for the items listed, so the price would NEVER change unless I added more items. He also said that I could select DELIVERY DATE for when I wanted it, NEVER said an amount of time.
I paid the Deposit because I liked that the price would not change, and the total of the move would be $4,500 and Deposit was $2,600.
A week later, after checking my items better, I noticed I needed to take off some boxes and add some items, so I called them to make sure all the items are listed; the price went up around $600 more and I said ok, fine, It was in that moment around $5,200. NEVER said again about cubic feet, and I explained that it was a 2 bedroom apartment, and I again said the items size and I also had already given address of pick up and address of delivery.
Day of pick up: HORROR STORY STARTS a guy from another company called Map Express Logistics shows up and says that the amount of stuff doesn't match, and I'm like: what do u mean? it's everything listed, exactly how I listed it; He says: no no, cubic feet says 600 and what you have is more like 1100. He leaves for a fee minutes and comes back saying: your new estimate is $10,800 ( it F$%& doubled!!!) and I just started to like cry and scream, I had to even take a walk to calm myself because I noticed how F$%#ed up I was by them, they have you between the knife and the wall basically, options: (this is a STATE MOVE)
1- I cancel, lose my deposit and I have everything boxed and have to give apartment keys that day, how can I get another mover the same day?
2- Pay the $10,800 and just basically give up money so easily and hardly earn
3- Don't pay more, but take off items and just take 600 of cubit feet then
I went for option 3, I told them: let's just not take it all, I'll leave things!; the guy says: oh well if you only take 600 cf then you have to pay shuttle, and with the shuttle it would be $9,800... im like: what? shuttle? why? if you were able to get in here, and he says that things have to be moved from one transport to another, and if I pay the $10,800 then shuttle its for free.
At this point, I'm like, for $1000 less, I was going to leave 1/2 of my apartment behind, I guess lest just freaking do the option 2!

2nd PART of HORROR STORY ohhh guess what? you don't select date of Delivery!, it's up to them, so then I get told it would take 6 to 8 days, and still I'm like sure! paying more money, having to wait more...
8 days pass and I call to see what's happening and I get told from Southern Guarantee: Honey, you just moved! you are the beginning of this, this could take from 21 to 30 Days!!!
I'm like: no one said this before!
Map Express picked up my stuff on 3/11/22 and they arrived yesterday 4/4/22 with my stuff.

3rd part of HORROR STORY having to deal with their horrible customer service, and getting hanged up by a Rep by Southern Guarantee and also getting hanged up by another third party company who did delivery, which I never knew the name of Company because I paid the woman directly Joy, no company name. They both screamed at me and hanged up the phone at me.
I was so traumatized, that by the time of delivery my family and I even helped to unpack all items (when it's part of their price to pack and unpack) because we just wanted to be done with the whole thing.
My carpet cleaner came with a broken wheel and my dryer has dents and a scratch and I still say to myself: there are worse horror stories on Map Logistics Yelp!!!

Don't hire this people!!! I cannot believe there are companies out there like this, it's surreal, I got scammed!

"Buyer BEWARE"

Buyer BEWARE
Lesson learned too late for me but hopefully can help the next person... Fast talking "moving specialist" will reel you into paying a deposit on a "will-not-change" quote only to find out before the move that the cost is 4x the original cost with absolutely no change in inventory. I was told no less than a dozen times by Greg J. that communication was of utmost importance and then never heard from him again. Not sure what the actual moving experience would have been because I cancelled the move with them and cut my losses. Their customer acquisition practices are totally 100% unethical. Do not fall for their scam unless you're willing to pay 4x more than expected. After being scammed by Southern Guarantee, I hired a legitimate mover and there is NO comparison. Don't fall for the fast talker... when you speak with a legit mover, you'll know the difference.

"THIS IS A SCAM"

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

I hired Southern Guarantee to find movers for one queen bed and frame, 50 medium sized boxes, one sofa/couch and one love seat. I paid a $1400 deposit weeks in advance. I was given a "100% guarantee no change in price" and signed on that in our contract. When the movers arrived they quoted me more than double ($5600), despite having significantly LESS items than listed in our contract . Southern Guarantee said there was nothing they could do about it and I would not be receiving my deposit back. Southern Guarantee did not adhere to their own contract and provide me a written updated quote. The contract I signed also stated the estimate would NOT increase unless more items were included in the move. I had LESS items than were signed on in the contract. I spoke to multiple people on the phone including Marie Reed, Stephanie, Tyler, and a man in the complaints department. No one was willing to work with me or adhere to their own side of the contract. I did not receive my initial deposit back or even a portion of it despite their inability to fulfill what they stated in the contract.
All in all the customer service was absolutely atrociously unprofessional. The man in the complaints department answered my call with "what" and refused to give me his name when I reached out about options as again, they did not adhere to the contract.

THIS IS A SCAM, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Please save yourself the time, money and energy and hire movers directly from a reputable company.

"Bunch of liars and thieves"

Okay, so I was duped by their online advertising and URL budgetvanlines.com This company is in no way affiliated with Budget Van Lines. They required a $1600 deposit, which I was told on the phone was "fully refundable" (it's not). They do not accept credit cards. I gave them my bank account number. Later, I found out that 1) they could not come up with a FMCSA certified mover to complete the move, 2) they could not submit the required Certificate of Insurance required to move into a high rise condominium, and yes, you guessed it.. the small print on the contract says "the deposit is not refundable" no matter what.
I paid this company $1600 for absolutely nothing.. worse than nothing because by the time I figured out they are a bunch of Liars and Thieves, I had to hire a different moving company and start over.

"SCAM- Do NOT be Fooled"

This is a classic bait and switch scam operation! Research common moving scams and you will see Southern Guarantee fits the bill. The short version of my story (full story posted to sitejabber if interested)- I'm moving from UT to FL where my husband is currently stationed with the Navy. I hired what I thought was a moving company- Southern Guarantee to handle my move and found out they are actually a broker and not a moving company. they were supposed to come on 3/2/22 at 7PM to pickup my belongings. They never showed and never communicated with me they were not coming. The lack of communication along with some other red flags I was only now realizing gave me a really bad gut feeling and I started to do further online research into this "moving company" and I found a lot of recent bad reviews, determined all the good reviews were fake, started researching moving scams and decided this company I had hired fit the mold for these scams. At this point I didn't know what to do because I had already paid this company $1844 in a deposit for this move and didn't want to be out that money but I did not want to be scammed further. Huge red flag here- I tried to look up my contract/ estimate that had been emailed to me by this company but the link in my email that I had used in the past to access it now went to a page that says "Congratulations on your move on 03/02/2022!! please contact customer service for any questions. So now I can no longer even review what I've agreed to! 7:30 AM 3/3/22 I get a text from the moving dispatch essentially saying my movers arrived at 9PM last night but didn't want to disturb me so can they come at 9AM today? I went back and forth with them a bit trying to determine if they were at all legitimate but ultimately told them I didn't feel comfortable with them handling my move and asked them not to come. About 45 mins later a Ryder moving truck (not the company I thought I hired) shows up and the gentlemen tells me they are here for my move I explain my situation to him tell him I'm sorry his services are no longer required he confirms he does not work for the company I thought would be arriving and confirms he does not know where my stuff would be taken states that sometimes he just takes it to a storage facility it depends on what the dispatch tells him and he does not know anything about what is stated between me and the broker. So again I tell him sorry but I won't be moving any items with them today. Now the dispatcher calls me angry yelling at me about how I could think they are a scam, they are not a scam and wants me to confirm I am cancelling rudely tells me nevermind she has it in the text and hangs up on me. (note they specifically want me to say I am cancelling so they can keep my deposit) I immediately get a call from Southern Guarantee asking what's going on and she's arguing with me that they are not a broker but a moving coordinator and then proceeds to tell me that that contract (which I can no longer access) states that they are a broker and not a moving company a (so basically it's my fault for not reading it, even though the sales reps promised me on the phone they own the trucks) at this point I was positive this was a scam operation and was not going to go any further into it and knew I'd be out my deposit but in the grand scheme of things I was happy to have cut my losses here and still have all my possession and not had to pay them any extra money besides the $1844 I knew i'd been scammed for. And the crazy thing on this call the woman never really tries to dispute the claims I've made about their company but just tells me they are inaccurate and says "the truck is already there so why not move?" as if! So now I will be renting a truck and moving myself- fortunately I am in a position to do this as I'm currently staying with my parents so it is not a big deal if I need to stay here longer and keep my stuff here longer but I can definitely see how it is not as easy for others to back out once they have reached this point. Thoroughly research a company before hiring and don't be fooled by all these fake 5 star reviews.

"WORST experience in all my 7+ cross country moves"

I have moved all over the country many times, and this was the WORST mover experience I've had. Like other reviews here say, sales reps lie to get the booking and then the problems start. If this happens to you, call your cc company and cancel the deposit. Southern is a fraud company. My movers never showed up and my move never happened.

Watch out for:
*say they aren't BBB because they are small and don't want to pay for fee (it is because they would not get a good rating)
*says to look on Trustpilot and google for reviews (will even tell you to look at some of the comments that talk about them as individuals) - these positive reviews are paid and they are all super recent. no long term history.
*when you ask about the FMSCA and DOT# and them being a broker, they will lie and tell you that Southern has its own trucks and is also a carrier (they do NOT operate any trucks and have no affiliates underneath them as subsidiaries who do. They will tell you to look at how Mayflower is categorized on FMSCA and say they operate a similiar model. It is NOT true. Southern owns no trucks. They sold my job to a carrier with horrible complaints and reviews.
*They do not do an honest inventory list (example: I had 4 large outdoor ceramic plant pots that are very heavy. I explained this, and even afterwards the inventory list said "4 clay pots 1 lb each per client". They want to keep the inventory low to quote you a better price, and then when the carrier gets involved for pickup you will be stuck with huge price increases.

Ben Mallard was my sales rep. Everything he told me was a lie. He completely disappeared once the job was sold. I could not get ahold of him at all, or even on the move day when the movers canceled on me. The customer service basically said there was nothing they could do and kept sending me elsewhere for answers. Terrible company.

"Quoted $3500 to move a 2-bedroom…"

Quoted $3500 to move a 2-bedroom apartment 1000 miles away. Paid a non-refundable deposit just under $2000. Movers showed up on time - so far, so good. However, every time I asked when my things will be showing up at the new location - BECAUSE IT'S 1000 MILES AWAY AND REQUIRES COORDINATING - I keep getting pushed off to ask the foreman, then the foreman tells me I have to coordinate with Dispatch, THEN Dispatch tells me I should have indicated my availability with the foreman. When the foreman arrives, he says I have more items than what was quoted. Every time I talked to someone before the movers showed up, I asked what size boxes I was being quoted on. They would not answer my question. I have a bad back, so I use small book boxes. Well, turns out, each small book box counts as one item. I was not being charged by weight or cubic feet, I was being charged per item. But they did not tell me this when I asked. So the foreman informs me the cost to move my things has increased an additional $3000 - THAT'S A TOTAL OF $6500 - and asks if the movers should stop loading the truck, or if I will pay now. I have no choice, I am now in a bind, and they know it. I am now 1000 miles away, and Dispatch cannot even tell me when I will receive my property. Could be in "a few more days," could be 21 days...They also didn't inform me when they took my money that the drivers cannot drive more than 400 miles per day. Meanwhile, they have squeezed me for every penny that I owe, plus money I have now had to borrow from my retired mother, living on a very fixed income. Shady, upcharging at the time of pick up, vague drop-off scheduling. Oh, and they shattered a lamp when they loading my things on their beat-up moving truck, and left several items behind that I had to strap down to my truck.
