"Was sick and tired of sky broadband…"

Was sick and tired of sky broadband constantly dropping off and being fobbed off with "no problems in your area". No problems with connect fibre and quicker.

"Great customer service "

I’ve been with connect fibre around 6 months now. I had a very difficult install which took several months to sort out and multiple back and forths with customer service to find out what was actually happening and how we could move forward. There were several times honestly that I came very close to cancelling entirely (and I think I did actually give that ultimatum at one point!). However I stuck with them and I am very glad I did. Once we’d sorted the issue, the install went smoothly, the internet has been fast and reliable and every time I’ve had to deal with anyone from the company, it’s been great. It’s fast and easy to speak to someone, they listen to and understand your problems quickly, and they will do everything they can to help you. I’ve yet to have a technical problem with the internet but my dealings with them so far have given me confidence that this would also be dealt with professionally and efficiently with great customer service.

"Install went great"

Install went great. Supplied router is limited in features. Getting your own router to work on the ipv6 side is nigh impossible. Ipv4 side works correctly though. Would give 5 stars if the ipv6 issue could be resolved.
Update.
I have now managed to sort the ipv6 side by using openwrt software on my router, So I have now given 5 stars.

"Fantastic service, but dislike static IP pricing model"

Would I recommend Connect Fibre after just one week of using their service?

Overwhelmingly. 9.5 out of 10.

Installation was quick and easy, better than expected wifi coverage without additional nodes, wired connections are stupidly fast. Would definitely Estelle again.

If the company continues to focus on delivering a) rock-solid connections at an excellent price and b) customer service which actually feels personal (and not like you're "just another customer") then I'll support that 100%.

Pros:

+ £32/month (promotional offer price) is fantastic value for money, performs absolutely within what I'd consider symmetric gigabit-bandwidth territory. Leagues ahead of what other providers in my area (choice is either Virgin Media or Openreach-dependent ISPs that supply ADSL or FTTC - no FTTP around here, so limited) can offer at this price point. I hope it remains affordable after the 18-month contract. Competition should see to that.
+ supplied Linksys MX4200 router works well; 850-903Mbit wired connection speeds on my LAN which includes 40ft Cat5E cables and a network switch, very impressive wifi speeds on 2018 MacBook Pro and iPhone 12 Pro, 650-740Mbit, with phone being the fastest. No need for additional wifi nodes in my case.
+ router achieves direct download/upload speeds between 936-942Mbit, demonstrating the connection is more than capable.
+ it is technically possible to use your own router instead of the MX4200 - providing it has a dedicated WAN port and allows for a "VLAN ID" setting to be set to "101". Experimented/succeeded with a friend's old Netgear D6300 as a test, as my existing router is way-too-old and lacks a dedicated WAN port.
+ Tom was very helpful during initial consult back in March. Not a pushy salesman; knowledgable about the products and market. I previously worked at my ISP for 8 years as a software engineer, so it was great talking with Tom about the industry in general.
+ James and Nicky, installation engineers. Installation took a few hours and was hassle-free. Very polite, no mess. Even told me about an issue they'd had when installing the fibre cable, which meant they had to replace the line with another one. I really appreciated such transparency.
+ Courtesy call from Estelle in the call centre, day after installation. Estelle was awesome, I could talk to her all day about anything! She was really, really nice.
+ UK-based call centre.

Cons:

- MX4200 router is super-basic, IMHO. Fine for easy Internet access, but lacking features that techie folks possibly look for. I'm a techie.
- CGNAT-based network could be a problem for anyone wanting to temporarily host a service on "their" dynamic IP address, e.g. for WFH or a multiplayer game, etc. There's potential for quirky edge-cases breaking stuff. Being dynamic isn't specifically the problem - using CGNAT is.
- £5/month for a dedicated static IPv4 should be just a one-off £5 payment, to be more aligned/competitive with other ISPs. A one-off fee would have made it a 10/10, as I would have paid for a static IP. I really hope they change this decision, as it would make it much more appealing to techie non-business individuals who potentially require a static IP...

My biggest criticism is static IP pricing. £5/month is expensive, especially when on a promotional cost of £32/month for 18 months, as it's equivalent to a ~15.6% increase from the base package.

The same gigabit package is £50 without promotion, making adding a static IP "only" a 10% increase, which is still a lot.

My other ISP switched to selling static IPs for a one-off charge of £5 to new customers, which is much better. Twenty-plus years ago, their static IPs were free - as an ancient customer of theirs, I'm in this category.

Compared with the, perhaps, largest cable provider in this space, who offer static IPs ranging from £free to £15/month (EX VAT, mind you) depending on business product and the number of IP addresses allocated.

I realise there's an apparent shortage of IPv4 addresses, but paying a fiver every month for a single static IP on a residential product is a bit cheeky. Highly technical non-business users exist, and for something as fundamental as a humble IP address, the current cost doesn't make sense to me.

This all aside, I'm very pleased with the professionalism of Connect Fibre so far.
