Splend

"Beware Of Splend, Be. Ware "
These reviews you read about Steph and the others from Splend collections are completely true One guy lost his car because because Splend forced him to pay the excessive excess for an incident where he was not at fault. This left him short for his weekly payment which he managed to raise but needed an extra 48 hrs. Splend refused and the car was repossessed. When you sign up with Splend they take you through a few dot points of the contract and you think you have a full understanding of your obligations. The bits they take you through and get you to initial are just the tip of the iceberg though and they leave the full weight of the borderline unethical terms and conditions unmentioned. This company is a shiny apple riddled with worms. Please entrepreneurs give them a competitor in the Australian marketplace, coz these guys are wrecking people's lives left right and centre.

"Misleading and Deceptive Conduct"
Dear Chris King,
I am writing to address serious concerns regarding my rent-to-own Splend subscription and the misleading nature of the associated agreements. After speaking yesterday with Steph at 9.08am and then Joel Gavin at 10:31 AM on 22/04/25, I felt it necessary to escalate these issues, as my prior attempts to engage in a constructive dialogue were not received.
I have encountered numerous issues with Splend thus far, but one of the key points I wish to raise is concerning the language used in the contract. The contract states that in the event of a failed payment breach, the agreement "may" be terminated, which implies discretion and the potential for negotiation. This understanding was pivotal in my decision to sign the agreement. It is misleading and unacceptable that a mere delay in my payment could lead to immediate termination, particularly given my current circumstances, which require only a minor extension as discussed with Steph & Joel.
Moreover, the way Splend's collections team and management have treated me borders on harassment. When I spoke with the collections team on 22/04/25, they demanded payment by the morning, threatening termination and car be returned immediately if I couldn't comply. I simply requested 48 hours to pay, as my funds had been drained by a $1500 excess for an accident in which I am not at fault. I was seeking a small measure of assistance regarding this issue, which was met with an inflexible and aggressive response. I then received a subsequent call from another team member late afternoon stating I needed to make the payment that evening instead of the next morning again threatening car repossession.
After my conversation with Joel, it has become increasingly evident that there is a significant lack of ethics and duty of care towards Splend's customers from the executive team and directors. This perspective is troubling, especially given the considerable reliance of customers on fair practices and support during challenging times. I find it astonishing that the company perceives itself to be doing great corporately, as portrayed by the Australian media, while treating its customers quite the contrary.
I also find it misleading to the public that company staff asks for a Google review once the car has been picked up from the depot on the first day, which marks only the initial stage of service being received. This is a a false representation of the overall service and experience.
I have reason to believe that hundreds of drivers have faced similar or even more severe circumstances under this agreement. I find the practices surrounding this contract to be deliberately misleading, usury and unjust, contributing to significant stress, financial losses, and unethical treatment of drivers. There may be grounds for a larger class action against Splend for misleading conduct, which could fall under the scrutiny of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) for deceptive behavior.
As a result of this situation, I am formally requesting a full refund of the monies paid, based on the grounds that this contract has been misleading and deceptive. I have returned the vehicle today, as demanded by Joel, and will not be making any further payments and my account continues to be charged!... Should my request not be accepted, I will explore additional support avenues regarding the issues discussed.
Had the contract indicated "will be terminated," I would not have entered into this agreement, given the rigid commitment that would entail. My expectation, based on the language used, was that there would be an opportunity for discussion and resolution before such drastic measures were taken.
I seek agreement directly from you on this matter and expect a prompt response that considers my current situation as well as the broader concerns raised by other drivers. It is imperative that we reach a reasonable resolution in a timely manner before any further actions are pursued.
Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter.
Regards,
Brandon Evertz

"If you Goal is Uber Success, then SPLEND is NOT for You."
I am a Fulltime Uber driver, with15,440 trips with a 5-star customer rating. Using rideshare, I commenced with Splend and quickly realised I had made a poor Business decision.
There are amazing ride share companies available to you, offering 1st class client relationships, prompt service, better cost options and want to develop a working relationship with you for mutual benefit.
SPLEND does none of this. They are impossible to deal with, completely arrogant when it comes to cost and vehicle issues. They do not return calls or emails.
The accounts department is ruthless and unethical.
They entire organization showed no empathy towards my arrangement, when I tragically lost my 19yr old Daughter.
If your goal is to drive UBER successfully, then SPLEND is the worst rideshare Partner available in Australia.
I currently use and strongly recommend RIDELENDER in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.
I have personally dealt with both the Sydney and Brisbane offices. And encourage others to follow suit.
100% more professional then Splend.
