Curbio

"Great experpience with Curbio"
Great experpience with Curbio! Was my first time using them and everything went very well. From the beginning to the end there was good communication, we were given a date of completion but they finished before that date. General contractor was very friendly and approachable, kept us informed every step of the way.
Any concerns we had and additions added to the scope of work he was very accomodating and worked it in the schedule.
I will use them again for my next project. You can leave it to Curbio and rest assured your project will get done.

"Carmen was spectacular"
Carmen was spectacular. She communicated very well, and adjusted quickly to all the many challenges my clients had her face. She made cost effective recommendations that increased the value of the property.

"Curbio does a great job of hiding their…"
Curbio does a great job of hiding their bad reviews. There is no possible way Curbio has five-star reviews across all platforms. Statistically impossible, which is an even bigger RED FLAG.
Our home renovation has lingered for two-years now. I may even dedicate a website for the public to follow. Crookedcurbio dot com may get some attention.
Not only is our home in shambles, but we now missed the height of the market, when we could have made a really great profit.
Of course, Curbio covers themselves in the contract. Regardless. I will no longer sit idle and allow a company to take advantage of us.
Contractors damaged our property, Curbio refused to answer for their mistakes, fails to communicate----- and all the attorney has to say is "It will be covered under warranty and "You are breaching the contract."
I have summons the help of the Maryland Home Improvement Commission to thoroughly investigate Curbio's operations.
I am also going to warn the public about how Curbio operates. I have wasted over 2-years dealing with excuses and no accountability.
All Curbio cares about is profit. The quicker they do repairs and make their money, the quicker the profits come.
I have news for Curbio. I am not going to sit here and be another victim. I will do everything in my power to expose the crooked business practices of Curbio and save other homeowners the heartache,
Curbio's staff has ZERO empathy. They take ZERO accountability. There are dozens of homeowners that have experienced what I am describing.
What I simply cannot wrap my head around, is how Curbio can demand the total contracted amount. In our case $191K, and only have completed a quarter of the work.
Additionally, Curbio still refuses to address numerous issues with workmanship and issues that have gone unresolved.
PLEASE PLEASE use extreme caution when contracting with Curbio. I can predict with 99.9% accuracy that in the coming months, Curbio will come under fire for their shady business practices.
What is done in the light, will eventually be revealed. The positive reviews you do see, are realtors and agents that have used Curbio when the seller has already vacated the property.
Curbio was not banking on the fact that we would be living in our home while the renovation took place. This of course is a huge problem for Curbio, because we had a chance to experience the horrible manner in which Curbio operates.
I will always inspect what is expected. Curbio charges triple what an ordinary contractor charges, so I was most-definitely paying attention.
If anyone would like a statement about my experience of need to reach me, please do so on my Facebook page at Dana Banks (Bonkowski) I wish everyone the very best with their renovations, but the bottom-line is Curbio is greedy.
They created a great business model, but decided to fail in the business of providing quality renovations and above-all, delivering a joyful consumer experience.

"DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY"
Curbio did not finish our project in a timely manner. Curbio started our renovations in May 2022. They said they would complete the project in September 2022. Therefore giving us ample time to sell our home. Our home was not completed until April 2023. This gave us approximately one month to sell our home. The manager for our project was incompetent. We were not living in our home during the renovations. We discovered one bottle of our whiskey had been consumed. We believe he drank a bottle of whiskey in our home. Curbio reimbursed us for our whiskey. The manager constantly left all the doors to our home unlocked with the furnace turned on to a high temperature once he left the home. He did not apply for any permits in a timely manner.. etc. There were a number of problems with this individual. Curbio was aware of the problems, but kept this man on our case, although the deadline for the completion of our project had gone. There was never any explanation from Curbio, as to why they kept this incompetent person on our case. I asked them repeatedly for an answer, but was never given one. I asked them, if I was being treated this way because I am African American, with all things being equal. They continued to deny this, although they kept this incompetent person on our case, while interest rates continued to rise. Curbio finally removed this person in November 2022. Long after the given completion date of September 2022.
Once the new person took over the case, she basically had to start new, because unknown to me, the original person had not even completed my preferences for color, fixtures, and other. This was to be done in May 2022.
Once our home went on the market in April 2023, long after the September completion date, giving us one month to sell our home.
Curbio, then began to send us emails demanding repayment of the loan although they knew they were responsible for the delay of our home going on the market.. They threatened us, that if we did not repay within our one year of signing the contract, they were going to charge us an outrageous interest payment daily. This company caused us to experience added anxiety, because we had to rush and sell our home, at what ever cost, to pay Curbio for the renovations. Curbio at the signing of the contract, gave us 6+ months to sell our home, but the reality was, we had one month to sell our home.
There have not been any overtures of accountability for their horrible behavior directed at us.
I would not use this company, especially if you are African American.
They treated us horribly.

"Terrible company!!!!"
Terrible company that overcharges for work completed. They will also subcontractor work that is substandard. This company caused a fire at our home, refuse to take responsibility for it. Then, they failed to file a lien that will ensure they get paid at closing so rather they “notified” the title company and refuses to sign the document needed to settle their debt. They are purposely sabotaging our closings and they don’t care. We want them paid and out of our lives. Do not do business with this company! Ever!!

"PONZI SCAM"
CONTRACT - Ponzi Scam. They put NO completion Dates (even though they knew we had to have work done in 2 weeks and they said: "we 'most likely' will start tomorrow or next day latest" - never showed up for 3 weeks later only after I called diligently several times. NO Contractor came out - just a painter who was told to do contract work. I cancelled and was forced to pay 25% of contract - several thousand dollars.
Had NO communication from Curbio (Atlanta) - who sub-contracted another broker (from Miami area), to do work in Charlotte, NC with very sketchy random painter that I had to use Google Translate for to speak to and found out he could only paint - no general construction contract ability.
Curbio pressed aggressively - sign contract, sign contract - work will start tomorrow . . . . after signing contract, didn't hear from PM for over 2 weeks (1 week after completion due date) - took another week to get any info on their 'contractor' (who was another broker). I cancelled the work, two days later got a letter from their lawyer (Compliance) noting I owed several thousand dollars for nothing.
Have your contract looked at by attorney (like Legal Shield) before you do this stuff. TOTAL PONZI SCAM.

Jennifer Ayyad and her team were the BEST and I look forward to working with her again!! She took very good care of my clients - extremely detailed in their work and had no problems addressing any concerns my clients had. Thank you so very much. I look forward to my next project with you. :)
