The sales and operations at Shred-IT are not joined up. The initial engagement with them was great - really helpful sales guy on the phone. When I received a date for collection of my documents there was no indication of a time window other than the day. I phoned their customer service to clarify and was told that it would be around 3:30pm. The next day the driver arrived at 09:45 in the morning whilst I was still sorting out the last of the documents for shredding. The driver Chris was a super nice guy and explained to me that he had been given the wrong address but worked out the correct address. He waited a few minutes until I hurriedly put documents into a box. All very rushed. Got an immediate certificate of disposal after pick up which did not instil me with confidence as I know the documents had not been destroyed. I wouldn't use this service again.

Helpful onsite visit to ensure documents were removed ahead of our required deadline.
Initial stages could have been clearer in terms of form signature however once identified as an issue, resolved quickly.

Great service for a one-off shred and destruction of old floppy disks and harddrives. Speedy and professional response to initial enquiry (by John) with quote provided over the phone. Contacted by local depot (Leeds) within the week to arrange collection the following week. Arrived early on the day of collection and were polite and professional. We've used Shred It before - about 8 years ago - and have had a very positive experience both times. I'd definitely use them again and would recommend to others.

"Started well, sting in the tail…."
Oh dear. I originally gave this company 5 stars for ease of use but unfortunately my experience had a sting in its tail. I pre-paid for the service (so I thought) and was sent 10 “ShredIt” bags. I filled 9 and they were collected and I had a certificate of shredding. How great I thought. The next thing I knew, I had an email invoice for nearly £200 for the shredding of 9 bags, which I ignored because my Dad was critically ill in hospital, and I thought I’d pre-paid. This was followed the next day by an invoice from their credit control department for nearly twice that amount in ‘late payment’ fees and informing me that it would show on my credit report. I replied by sending a copy of my pre-payment receipt and some choice words (Dad still dying in hospital at this point). It turns out that I had pre-paid for only 8 bags, even though they sent me 10 (why send more than you’ve paid for?), so had not paid for the 9th bag, and so owed them £14. I did have an apology from their credit control section but how they got under the impression I’d not paid anything in the first place is a mystery. Sales need to talk to billing, and please please double check how many bags you’ve actually paid for because they will likely send you more than you’ve paid for and you’ll owe money for the “extra”. It’s a shame because I’d had a great experience until billing started sending me insane, incorrect bills and I have had to ask them to correct my credit report. Not what I needed whilst my Dad was critically ill.

The Collection guy was very helpful, polite and provided a quick service.
Although it stated on his paperwork that the waste would be a 'ground floor collection' and we are on the first floor. This was never discussed with the sales team, at all, nor can I find it on any paperwork from them, when arranging the service

Overall the service was effective once it got into gear, however I found the inter-department communications to be poor. [sales and logistics]. Despite the company requesting an earlier service date to the original agreed date, they fell foul of this and failed to turn up!
It required a strong complaint to a senior manager to recover the situation, after which things went as planned.
The company only sent a single person to handle the heavy bags and wheeled containers which proved difficult to load onto the truck tailgate. Assistance was required from me.
I would use the Shredit service again in the future but would make doubly sure of the delivery/service dates.
