In wall unit with a Side slide door could use an optional rail extending from the unit. Without it the door tilts and get stuck and when you open it all the way it falls out and it's hard to get back in.

The Hale doors are second to none ! My second door / install and it works and looks great. But.... recently purchased a new inner door and the shipping was an unbelievably high $17.50.... Even higher than thier own site described rates. I do a lot of online ordering and try to weed out those who jack up shipping for a little more profit. Underhanded way to make an extra buck, it doesn't reflect well on your name.

This double flap door lasted about 10 years! Finally started getting a crack or rip in the outside flap at the top, and that is with an 80lb bull terrier flying thru it. If I ever move I'm taking the whole back door with me, just to keep my pet door.

"Forgot half my order - overpriced"

I ordered 2 replacement flaps and they only shipped one. I'm still waiting for the second one. You would have thought they would have expedited this missing one, but I'm still waiting. The original order was placed May 6. Today is 5-23. Also their products are extremely overpriced. $129 for 2 replacement flaps is excessive.

Everything about this door is fantastic. Hale made shopping on line easy with lots of information available about how to choose the right door size for your pet and how to install it with directions, supplies/tools needed and videos available before you purchase anything. Pet door took about two weeks to get here (reasonable considering it had to be made). Packaging is well designed to protect the door, easy to open and get all the parts out of the box (don't forget to look for the small bag of screws with a drill bit in the bottom of the box!).
WOW! That is what you are going to say when you see the door for the first time. The quality and craftsmanship are amazing! The clear flap doors and very pliable and the magnets really keep the door closed. With the dual flaps I do not anticipate any drafts through the door.
I tackled this project with my handy-man brother and I highly suggest you have a friend help you if it is a wall door. We followed the directions and all went well. We installed the door for my cats in a six inch thick wall (stucco,sheer plywood, bracing, insulation and 3/4" drywall). Cats have yet to try it, but they sure like to look through it. The adhesive to adhere the carpet is a bit smelly and I think that is what is deterring them at the moment.
Anyways, feel confident that this door is not over-priced. You are paying for quality.
My favorite things about this door? The rain flashing is just so darn cute! And the carpet really kicks it all up into the posh zone.

We have had a Hale doggie door for about 10 years. Every so often we must order replacement flaps, which we did recently. The web site was easy to navigate. However, I am confused as to why we were required to create an account just to order flaps. Then after ordering the flaps we heard nothing from them. After 10 days I finally called them to ask what was going on. So, while I love the product, I think they need to make giant strides towards maintaining communication as to when the order is expected to arrive so that we don't feel abandoned! All arrived safe and sound even if slow.

Love the pet doors and easy to order replacement flaps. That said, I wish the shipping process was a little faster took 2 weeks to receive my replacement flaps. I would also like to see if they could improve their flaps to make them stand up better to harsh winters like we have in Minnesota.
