I have never had a pet door before so I did a lot of research prior to purchasing the Hale Pet Door. This was going in my home so it needed to be a quality product. My husband did the install and the instructions were so precise he had no problem with the project. The materials used in the door"s construction are very substantial. I have four dogs who have never used a pet door before and within a week they were pros. I would recommend this pet door above all others. I was also impressed that the company offers a 10% discount if you have adopted a shelter pet and then they in turn donate to the shelter. That was an added incentive.

"High Quality Pet Door"

The door arrived in great condition and had easy to follow installation instructions. The dual flaps and magnets seal up the opening every time. Time will tell if it lasts but it is by far the best door I have purchased, this is my 3rd one, first one from Hale. My only complaint is that I wish the inside shutter was made of steel or something more sturdy. The hard plastic is tough but I think it could be kicked in without too much effort. The clicking sounds of the magnets when it closes spooked my biggest dog who is afraid of most loud noises so she needed a little training in order to use the door. Perhaps something to think about if you have a similar issue with your pet before you buy. She got over it pretty quickly, however.

This is our 5th Hale Pet Door. We have 3 Australian Shepherds. We bought a size larger than recommended to give them a bit more width in going through the outer and inner doors. Nicely constructed, insulated and nicely finished off with commercial grade carpeting, easy to install, easy to use security door. Highly recommend these doors....they are the best on the market and you won't be disappointed in your investment.

"Great quality but needed better instructions"

I love your products and just recently installed new interior and exterior flaps. But I have to say I couldn't have installed the replacement flaps without the help of UTube. The Hale installation book was way too confusing for me (75 yr. old female). The original flaps lasted five years and three dogs and I appreciate your quality very much.

"Awfully Expensive for the Quality"

We spent about $500.00 on a large pet door into the garage. We are now getting ready to install our third set of door flaps since we installed them in 2011. Warranty covered the second set. The third set that we ordered in the last week or two were fairly expensive for plastic flaps. The magnets fall off as well. If I had it to do over, I would have looked harder at different brands. I paid the extra money thinking that it would last a long time. We have had no problem with the frame or any other parts of the door. Warranty service on the first set was no hassle. On the second set, they gave me a discount. Service has been good.

"Good Product - but you pay for it...."

I've had Hale Pet Doors for 15+ years. They are quality and generally last. Installation is pretty simple with basic construction skills (through the wall). My only reservations is that over time (several years) my silicone door flaps shrank from the sun, and leaked at the edges. I bought a replacement flap kit ($188 JUST for the replacement kit) and the mounting screws were not long enough. I fixed it with a trip to Home Depot, but for that price you'd think everything would fit, right?! ....It is in, and seems to be working with the new $1 screw kit.

I have great danes, so finding a good quality pet door that is large enough for my dogs is not easy. I was very excited to find Hale Pet Door and my first order experience was exceptional. I needed it sent overnight so that my contractor could install it and not only were they able to accommodate that, they followed up to ensure it arrived on time. The installation went seamlessly and now I have the biggest dog door I have ever seen for my screened porch. My dogs love it! And the quality is exceptional. I will certainly recommend them to others and buy from them again.

"Best dog door for our location"

Purchasing from Hale was great. The dog door arrived so quickly, and the cost was lower than what it was going to cost us from a different website. Plus, the Hale website showed us how to measure and determine what size door we needed, and that kept us from buying the wrong size -- the size I was originally going to buy.

The door is very well built and the installation instructions were very good, too. Plus, we live in a very windy place, and so far -- with wind gusts up to about 20 mph so far -- the two flaps of the door stay closed. Our winds get up to 30 mph or more, and so I hope these doors hold up in it. We'll have to wait and see, but I think they will. The magnets on the flaps hold very securely.

Not wanting to spend this much on a door, we originally purchased the best one we could find at a local store, but winds of 15 mph would blow those flaps open. We returned that one to the store and installed the Hale Tall Large one, and we're glad we did.
