"Great Company"

Great Company. Sales guy did an awesome job. The installer was very knowledgeable and made sure we knew how to operate the system. Love having the cameras and being able to see who is at the door even when we are not home.

"This company is a joke"

This company is a joke! Not funny, bad! I have been trying for months to get in contact with them. Each time I call, I get transfered to a line that just rings or if I leave a message, no one ever calls back! I even tried to get in touch with the alarm safety specialist that came out to my house, no answer with him either. I just him to help me get someone. They gladly take my money, but don't deliver after the install. I highly recommend that no one else gets suckered into this deplorable company.

"HORRIBLE company to work with"

HORRIBLE company to work with. I'm NEVER able to get through, NEVER am able to get service. I waited my 5 years and paid the monthly fee even though I had ZERO service, before I called to cancel. Only to find out they auto-renewed my contract for 18 months and would cost $885 to cancel. Do NOT fall for this company. They are all rainbows and unicorns at install. Once the contract is signed, you're done.

"This company is NO GOOD"

This company is NO GOOD! We moved into our new home back in June 2020. The sales men came by trying to sell this crap of security system. I refuse and would not listen to him, I actually closed the door in his face. My husband felt bad so he opened the door and my "husband" listened to his pitch. I told him I want ADT and walked out the room. The sales person NEVER had a chance to speak with me nor did he know my name. My husband fell for the sh** and signed up for the useless crap which did not and have not worked well since day one! Tech came out same 2 weeks after installment and we got charged for it when it was not working the 2 weeks we had it. The owner came out and had to get them to install correctly we had the system for almost 4 weeks before it worked a little. More to horror show remember they NEVER talked to me didn't know my name, but agreement is in my name I DID NOT sign agreement or approve it. My husband was not aware of my name being on the agreement. They pulled up the address and saw the house is in my name and used that information. Which is illegal and I am just waiting to go to court with them. I have a copy of the agreement which the young lady sent to me and it's not my signature or name signed. How could they put this crappy shi** in my name without ever talking to me. My husband and I are newly weds at that time we had been married for 6 months so he does not know my personal info and still does not. So how dare them to put this sh** in my name without my consent. None of them that came to my house could tell you what I look like etc because they have NEVER met me and got my approval. Run like Forest Gump if they come to your house. Better yet slam the door in there face as I did!! Oh and did I mentioned the crappy sh** never worked.

"A big mistake"

A big mistake

It was a big mistake that I have made to sign a contract with this company. Basically, there were guys who are going on street knocked door by door to sell this kind of "security" equipment. There are many truth about this company: once you sign on it, you will be hooked and you can't never get out of until you pay all the rest of months of contract. You guys should know it. Please check, check carefully with documents and others to understand the nature of the contract.

Don't sign for long term contract like me (5 years). It's a terrible. Customer service is bad. They basically say "yes, that's what you signed, you're hooked.". The guys on the street are hired as short-term.

There are many other good companies out there too. And you can set up your security system way better and a lot cheaper nowadays.

"Terrible company....the nicest people…"

Terrible company....the nicest people are the sales person and the installation technicians. The rest of my experience with customer service was awful. I called about cancelling my contract twice, first I was told I had a 5 year contract when I thought it was 3. The second time I was told I had to cancel within 60 days prior to the contract end date. I mailed a letter canceling the contract 30 days out (my mistake). No one contacted me to say, sorry your request is late. When I called in October to say please cancel you are still charging me. I was told my cancelation letter that they had on file from June 2, 2020 was rececived too late to cancel the auto renewal in July 13, 2020. To end my contract I have to pay over $700. Mind you, they had not provided service for three months and will not for the next 9 months. I am still obligated to them until July 13 2021. However, they will hold my cancelation request from June 2 and apply it to not renewing a 2022 contract. Ugh!

"Don't make the same mistake I did."

I opened the door to a Northstar Alarm Salesman. BIG mistake. I listened and fell into the trap purchasing a security system from him.
I wanted to protect myself from thieves breaking into my home. What I found that the thieves I should have protected myself from were those running Northstar Alarm in the amount 0f $67.71 per month for 5 years. No upfront cost of materials and installation seemed to be a good deal.
At first I thought I had a neat system. I was impressed by the doorbell replacement which had a camera with the ability to record and converse with anyone at my front door on my cell phone. My deadlock key was replaced by a touch key lock. I started setting my new system, but stoped setting it because of false alarms. Police started billing me for false alarms. I started getting motion sensed alarms from my doorbell camera when the wind blew and moved the branches on my bushes. I attempted to fix this but as a result lost this due to changes I made to settings. Notices were setoff by system for low battery and lock door sensor in my workshop. These were set off in the middle of the night. After complaining to Northstar, I got information needed to silence the system. After putting up with this I spoke to company representatives describing what was going on. I was sent a battery pack and another door sensor for me to do the replacement. This is not covered by them. The battery pack was not the same as the battery on the system. The replacement sensor was also different than that was on door.
I asked them to cancel their services. I was told that I have a five year contract which I am obligated to complete.
$67.71 x 12 = $812.52 per year. $812.52 x 5 = $4,062.60. This is the cost of listening to this Northstar Alarm salesman.
I finally found this place where I can complain and hope that others will not fall into the same predicament I find myself in. If there is a way I can sue Northstar Alarm, I would in a minute.

"Worst Alarm Company Ever"

We have been with Northstar Home for several years now. They have been the absolute worst company we have ever worked with. There were several instances where our home alarm was tripped and we never received a call from the monitoring center. The police would show up. After 2 calls per year, we're charged by our local jurisdiction for false alarms.

Their equipment was faulty from the start. We never did get our doorbell alarm/camera to function correctly.

In trying to cancel our plan, we waited on hold for hours. The person answering the call said we needed to speak to the cancellation department. We left multiple messages and continued to call back until we reached someone in a different department who told us to email a cancellation letter to : noc at northstarhome.com. We received an automated response that someone would get back to us in 2 weeks. That came and went without a contact. The next month, we were billed our reoccurring monthly rate.

I finally got someone on the phone again who after 3 transfers took my early cancellation payment.

Do yourself a favor and avoid this company at all costs!

"Do not buy from this company"

Do not buy from this company! A door knocker told me they could install cameras, a new doorbell and alarm for $48 per month. I went forward because I was having problems with an autistic kid in my neighborhood that kept coming into my yard. I was told by the police that I should get a camera.

Immediately after they installed the cameras, NOTHING WORKED! I had their tech out 8-9 times. I had Cox out 10-20 times. Everyone blaming the other. The Northstar tech stopped responding and I finally broke down and had a mesh wifi system installed and I called Northstar directly, told them what was going on and that I could not get the cameras to work. They sent out another tech ($99) who immediately told me that I had too many cameras and that I had been taken advantage of... His fix was to unplug 3 cameras..... So now I have 3 cameras that I am paying for that I cannot use.

I was told that the alarm system would work with my Alexa devices. That I could say "show me my front camera" or talk to people through the doorbell... ALL LIES. It does NOT work with Alexa. You cannot see the doorbell and if someone does ring the bell, you have to log into the app and talk through a 2 way radio. After a month, I removed the Skybell and reinstalled my ring doorbell because at least it works with Alexa and you can talk and listen to people at the door.

They lied about the bill too. That $48 bill is actually almost $70 and the equipment is almost $4000.

Just avoid this company!!!
