"Same boat as everyone else...paid for 5…"

Same boat as everyone else...paid for 5 years paid it off finally. Called in September 2 mths before my contract was up told them I'm moving and want to cancel. No one said anything to me about sending it in writing. Come November I think I'm all done. Try and get a hold of someone to cancel and all they'll do is try and upsell me new equipment. I tell them everytime nope just want to cancel. It's now January and they are still trying to bill me. Finally got to speak to someone today to ask why I'm still being billed. He tells me well you didn't send in writing you wanted to cancel so you're now renewed for 18 more mths...wth how shady can you get!!

"Northstar Alarm Services only wants your money"

Northstar Alarm Services is not a reputable company that cares anything about the customer. Their only desire is to claim as much money from the homeowner as possible. I paid faithfully for 3 years until the end of my contract term as agreed. When I called in to cancel services, I was informed at that time that I was required to provide written notice 60 days in advance of the contract end date. The kicker, since my contract had "Auto Renewed" 15 days earlier - I am now required to pay for 18 more months. This is clearly and simply a deceitful contracting practice to milk money out of every homeowner they can sucker into signing. Such an important clause you would think would be communicated at the time of purchase, but never was. And I am sure if you dig around in the fine print you'll find it buried somewhere. The point is, any company that would employ the practice is less than moral and only after your money.

"I am in the same boat as everyone else"

I am in the same boat as everyone else. I called to cancel my 5yr contract 6mths before it was over. I was told it wasn't over till Devember. So I called today thinking it was over and wanted to verify because I called and canceled it 6mths ago, only for the man (not nice at all) says you have been renewed because you didn't send it in writing 60 days before the contact was over. 😭😭😭😭

"Our installation was very sloppy and…"

Our installation was very sloppy and looked horrible.
We have only had it for 4 months and it will not connect to my phone. The device has ran out of space and there is no way to delete all, you have to delete one by one. The camera starts recording for any motion, like a leaf falls down and it starts recording. The shatter alerts are constantly going of just by closing our closet or my children jumping. I wish we would have just gotten this stuff on our own. Now we are paying $80 per month for something that doesn't work properly.

"Deceptive company- RUN"

This company uses extremely deceptive practices to lock you into contract after contract. They will tell you there is a required equipment upgrade that you must agree to, that extends your contract 36 months. They will require written notice months ahead of when the contract ends and then lie to you about when they need it by. The only way out of the contracts they have tricked yo into is to pay them in full up front. We have paid nearly a year for service on a house we no longer live in, that no one is using, and now they say we must pay 18 months more. RUN from this company.

"Complete garbage and waste of money"

Complete garbage! Their equipment DOES NOT DO WHAT ITS SUPPOSED TO DO . Then when you do call in to get assistance they #1 try to walk you through how to dissemble and build the equipment back up , #2 charge you a service fee of $90 to have someone come out and fix the broken crap . Why the hell do I have to pay for service that I’m not able to use , please make it make sense. They gave me service day and time , insisted that someone over 18 years of age be there . Which is fine and understandable. They tell me that my service slot in between 12pm and 2pm. I take off work to be present for this . And the damn technician doesn’t show up until AFTER 6pm . That being the case I could have definitely kept my ass at work. Now they have the nerves to want to later charge me a service fee for one the late service and two the problem still hasn’t been fixed . I explained that I’m not against paying the service fee but don’t feel I should have to after one having to miss out on work/ money and two I still can’t use the service that I pay monthly for . Robert , the supervisor over the technical support department says hey I’ll credit your account $30!!! Ummm $30 doesn’t help with the funds I lost having to leave work and miss out on 6 hours of work to be present for an appointment that was not met ! I’m overly disgusted with this company . They are truly a scam and I hate that I didn’t check the reviews before getting locked into this 5 year contract. It saddens me that my complaint is consistent and the same as majority of their customers . They are welcomed to send that $90 past due service payment to collections. The moment it hits my credit I will be taking them to court . I hope that their calls are indeed monitored and recorded as they state . Horrible horrible company !! I knew I should have stayed with ADT !!! Ugh

"I joined this nightmare alarm system…"

I joined this nightmare alarm system company that has been nothing but defaulted equipment that has not work as they claimed it would & their lack of customer service is the worst I have dealt with. I would advise anyone who is considering it to walk or run away from it because if u want to deal with their poor service & be stuck in a 5 year contract that they tell you is for paying off that crappy equipment that doesn't work the way it should but it's all yours after 5 long years of sorry excuses they give you each time you report it.

"I signed up 5 yrs ago Now I have hell"

I signed up 5 yrs ago after 15 months the camera went out, I called and they sent me some cables to bring it up todate. It never worked. I called several other times and it still doesn't work I called on several things but in August I called to see when My contract would expire. The woman told me in November. I told her that I wanted to cancel and that was all that was said. I put Cancel down on my Calendar in Nov to cancell, I called them on Nov 3 and told them I was going to cancel They said ok, and then sent me a bill for $777 as a cancel fee. It was at this time that I found out about auto Renewal I was PO'd royally. It was for 18 months. I asked how and they told me I would have had to send in a form 60 days ahead of time then it would have cancelled. I asked if I would have owned the equipment at that time as was told YES. Now they are saying that the monthly charge is the same as the old contract so I will be paying for equipment that has been paid off, and I am not willing to do that. They say that they do not give you two fees a month one for service and one for equipment, it is all one fee, so the age of the equipment is not taken into consideration. Free if I cancelled right and still pay on it if I am auto renewed. ????? Doesn't make sense. Also about a month ago my wife were away for the week end. and my grandson came to stay at my house. He came in and the alarm went off. LOUDLY. He tried to get ahold of us to see how to turn it off, It took him 15 mins to get to us, we gave him intstructions on how to turn it off . We never got a call from NorthStar, nor the police. So did I have service or not? I called them and they said they did not get notified that I had an alarm go off and they did not call the police. what have I been paying for all these months. Now I get slammed with a legal but very unethical stand and all they say is. YOU SIGNED THE CONTRACT, and that is all, in my terms it says. We have you and we are going to keep you and punish you for not staying with us. I would not use them again, as I don't trust them at all They are low down and in my opinion not moral or ethical in their business, They only care about your money not taking care of your home security.
