The A Team Appliance Repair

"They feel like a scam"
My mistake... not reading these reviews. Our fridge broke on a Sunday. For $380 the guy told us that the compressor was blown. Ok, so far. He told us that it would take a couple of days to get a compressor and would cost $1500 in parts and labour. Apparently it arrived the next day. Great. We were told that the compressor specialist only worked on Saturdays and Sundays. Guess what? He never showed up. By the Monday (8 days after the fridge died) I was told that it would not be till Saturday. I lost confidence. I told them I had to cancel the job. I told them that I couldn't wait any longer. They then told me that I would have to pay a restocking fee on the compressor. They wanted 15% on the $1500. When I asked how much the compressor cost they said, $1500. They wanted me to believe there was no labour cost or mark up? I asked for a picture of the compressor and the invoice for the compressor. They wouldn't.... like these are trade secrets. What are they hiding? Not surprisingly, when I politely asked to the owner's name, they said it was policy to not give out names. Everything about them made me think "they are lying, this is a scam."
Then I read the reviews. I mentioned the reviews to them. They brushed off my comment.
The disputed amount is $264.00. We gave them a $881 deposit. when I asked for the undisputed amount of $617, they said they wouldn't release that money until I signed a waiver agreeing to not dispute the restocking fee. Clearly this happens all the time to them.
I'm calling my lawyer. My advise, NEVER call these people. They are very good at dealing with complaints... it's what they do best. I guess they get a lot of practice.

"DO NOT trust this company"
DO NOT trust this company; they are completely dishonest. For a dishwasher repair, the “repair technician” said that the pump needed to be replaced: $377.70 for the part and $280 for labour. Once he was done with the “repair”, he demanded the final $200 that is due upon satisfaction with their “service”. When I refused to pay it, the repair guy called the receptionist, who threatened me with a collection agency. He then threatened to remove the pump. We ended up paying him just to get him out of the house. Total cost of their “service”: $743.20. We could have had a brand new dishwasher, including installation, for that amount.
On top of all that, the “repair” that they did lasted less than one week. I have dealt with some bad companies over the years, but nothing even comes close to this. Worst repair experience ever. I don't understand how sleazy outfits like this are allowed to stay in business. The positive reviews here have to be fake, and should be removed. I can't imagine how anyone could be happy with their so-called service.

"SCAMMERS!!!"
My experience is the same as all the others on here. I wish I had read the reviews! My induction cooktop was not working, guy came and said it was the motherboard and needed a part. Immediately after leaving I found the original receipt from previous owner and my cooktop was less than half the price he said it was so I called to cancel the part as it was the same price to buy a new one. Ended up that it wasn’t even broken, I was just using the wrong pan! (Induction requires metal to work) It’s been 3 months and still haven’t been refunded the $875 they keep saying the will mail. This is not bad business practice, it’s FRAUD!! Please report this to the fraud department! The police will be forced to investigate if enough people come forward

"This is a scam of a company"
This is a scam of a company. The $80 visit turned into them receiving a signature based on fraud comments and then they said we owe them $560 despite not doing anything. Threatened to send to collections immediately. We have reported this company to the local fraud department within Canada.

"UNreliable, UNtrustworthy - company is a scam"
Why didn't I read the reviews of this fraudulent company first? I guess when you have an appliance and need an emergency repair this can happen. Bottom line - please please please do not deal with this company. My experience is literally a carbon copy of the many stories I have read here. Save your money, your time and your frustration - do not even think about dealing with this company.

"Stay away from this company!!"
Stay away from this company!!! It's a scam & they are con artists! A technician came out, I was quoted $80 for a service call & labour was on top of that...which is fine, however; the technician said that he knew it was a safety line that trips the mother board & he said he repaired it & turned the dryer on & it worked. He left, I went to use the dryer & it turned on but wouldn't start. It was not fixed. I called the company & they said that the $316 was for him to find the issue & the part was an additional $600. They said that I signed the invoice & that's the final. I let them know that the technician said he fixed it & didn't say that there was more involved. What they are telling me is not what the technician said. They then said that they could give me a discount on the part. They are con artists. PLEASE stay away from them! Learn from what happened to me.

"Freezer didn't freeze well"
Freezer didn't freeze well. Called this company. A technician came and spent half an hour and changed a part (starter) and charged me $525.
The problem didn't resolve. I called the company and they refused to send technician again to fix it.
Terrible company to deal !

"Apartment size dryer stopped working"
Apartment size dryer stopped working, (wouldn’t spin).
Technician came out May 7th 2024 and said rotation system not working. Here less than an hour! Total cost of Labour $295.00. Need new parts, ie rotation kit and safety sensor. $376.42 Paid $546.02 with an outstanding balance of $212.68 when job completed. Technician told us they did not have parts and would be back in a couple of days. 6 weeks later after many phone calls to ask where are the parts, was told that they were being manufactured. Finally came back to fit the new parts only to be told that he needed a second technician to help as he couldn’t do it by himself and it would cost an additional $280 for technician on top of outstanding balance of $212.68 bringing a grand total of $1,038.70 for a small apartment dryer of which I could have bought a new one and change.
We refused second technician, and told them we would see them in court! What a bunch of scammers.
Yes……. I should have read the reviews first! And now I’m without a dryer 🤷🏼♀️
