"FIjne manier van reizen, voor herhaling vatbaar"

Ik ben op 12 juli met een vriendin van Utrecht naar Berlijn gereisd en we hebben een prima reis gehad.

Het boekingsproces verliep prima en de informatie was helder, ook over het gewijzigde vertrekstation.

Ondanks dat we meerpersoons geboekt hadden, waren we op de heenweg maar met 3 personen in de couchette. Hierdoor lekker de ruimte, ook omdat we een extra brede couchette hadden waardoor de beenruimte echt super was. Ik heb genoten van hun eigen biertje, ik heb begrepen dat deze in Utrecht (?) gebrouwen is.

Bij vertrek was de trein netjes, ondanks dat het materieel wat ouder is.
Voorzieningen als WC/wasruimte zijn voldoende, weliswaar gedeeld, maar in ieder rijtuig aanwezig. Wellicht zou WiFi een fijne aanvulling zijn, maar mijn eigen internet-pakket voldeed prima waardoor ik gewoon online kon blijven en zelfs nog even mijn werk-mail heb weggewerkt.

Super-vriendelijke klantenservice en ook de staf op de trein doet alles om het je zo aangenaam mogelijk te maken, met bijvoorbeeld drankjes en snacks of als er vragen zijn.

Na een verrassend goede nachtrust, de hele dag in Berlijn kunnen rondstruinen.

Ergo: aangezien je met de nachttrein een hotelovernachting uitspaart en je toch kunt slapen terwijl je onderweg bent, zeer zeker voor herhaling vatbaar!
Ik ben dan ook erg blij met deze start-up die het weer mogelijk maakt om vanuit Nederland met een nachttrein te reizen.

"An eco-friendly way to travel"

An eco-friendly way to travel from Brussels to Berlin, I had a good night sleep but I would suggest taking earplugs to avoid noises.
The staff is helpful and friendly, for sure the train is a bit old but we can count on them to improve the service over the years.

I highly recommend it.

"Very disappointed"

For ecological purposes, I've been travelling by train through Europe, Asia and Africa for a long time.
I was delighted to book a ticket to get back from Berlin (to Brussels), with my friends, during the summer.
Unfortunalety, we have experienced an addition of problems which cannot be seen just as unluck:
- dirty, cheap and old sleepers (with fleas in the beds!)
- broken window
- broken heating system
- broken toilets (unseen in my lifetime: a European Sleeper employee had to spend hours with a toilet door handle in his hand in order to open the broken door of the only available toilet, because it is not possible to get out in our own!)
- broken electricity power (so no coffee in the morning)

I must also specify that my friends experienced the same problems while travelling to Berlin, 10 days before.

I sincerely sympathize with the young polite employees who had to be confronted with so many quality defects and lack of management (brilliant advertising using ecology as a business hook VS old Czech wagons rented for peanuts).

"Peut mieux faire"

Belle expérience en famille, retour aux années ’80 quand les train nous permettaient de connaitre l Europe et de se faire des amis, et commode. Par contre, baisser les températures du chauffage - on suffoque littéralement - et surtout le volume des annonces qui réveillent tous les passagers et qui rendent impossible dormir plus que 2 h d’affilée.

"Mooie ervaring! Zeker weer"

Ben gereisd van Berlijn naar Amsterdam in een slaap rijtuig, wat ik voor me zelf had. Dit was perfect. Het personeel was ontzettend vriendelijk en behulpzaam.
Ja, de rijtuigen zijn wat ouder, maar ik vind het geweldig dat ik op die manier op een ecologisch-verantwoorde manier lange afstanden kan reizen.
Ik vind het gaaf wat dit startup al voor elkaar heeft gekregen. Ik hoop dat ze verder groeien en op termijn ook de verbinding tussen Amsterdam en Barcelona kunnen aanbieden. Misschien op termijn zelf met nieuwe rijtuigen?

"Travelling with a baby - downgrade on short-notice"

In October 2023, I booked a journey in a single sleeping car from Brussels to Berlin with a baby, planned for December 18, 2023. 28 hours before the scheduled departure, I was informed by email that we would be downgraded for technical reasons - to a 6-person compartment in the couchette car. In return, we were refunded 50% of the purchase price or, alternatively, the option of a full cancellation and refund.
I immediately contacted customer service (good availability, even at weekends) and explained our situation: the single compartment was not booked for luxury reasons, but because I was traveling with an infant who needs to be breastfed several times during the night. For this reason, multiple occupancy is suboptimal (both for us and for any fellow travelers). For safety reasons, we also need sleeping accommodation at normal height and not on the second or even third level. In addition, we are traveling with bulky luggage (including a stroller that is not fully foldable, which usually stands in front of the bed in the aisle area and would block the way for other passengers in the multi-person compartment). I asked for these circumstances to be taken into account, especially as the baby had been specified on the ticket at the time of booking. A few hours later, we were informed that there was no other option than the 6-person compartment and that we would therefore be advised to cancel. Less than 24 hours before the planned departure, we had to cancel our Christmas trip to visit family and friends without any alternative. It is impossible to organize an alternative travel option with a baby at such short notice, especially at Christmas time. What a huge disappointment.

As if that wasn't enough, we checked the European Sleeper website again on the morning of the scheduled departure. To our greatest surprise, double and triple compartments in the sleeping car were available for the journey on December, 18. Couldn't we have been rebooked into one of these compartments? We felt like being part of a huge farce.

One star for the reactivity of customer service, another one for the immediate refund of the full fare. For a night train startup, however, we would have absolutely wished for more reliability. We have had several experiences travelling in night-trains with an infant through Europe that were ok or good. European Sleeper was an absolute disappointment due to the short-notice downgrade with no alternative. However, after reading the various reviews, last-minute rebookings seem to be common practice. We expected much more and were quite disappointed. I highly discourage anybody travelling with babies or small children to opt for European Sleeper for reasons of low reliability.

"Sehr nettes Personal und guter Service"

Sehr nettes Personal und guter Service. Eine sehr schöne Reise von Berlin nach Brüssel und zurück. Guter Wein. Alles macht einen sehr engagierten Eindruck. Die Waggons sind tatsächlich schon was älter und das ein oder andere kleine technische Problem war da, aber das Personal hat für alles eine gute Lösung gefunden.
Es ist schön das es ein Unternehmen gibt das es schafft, eine Nachtzugverbindung neu zu starten, trotz aller aktuellen Widrigkeiten (z.B. kaum Nachtzugwagen auf dem Markt verfügbar).
Die ein oder andere Kinderkrankheit kann man da, finde ich, sehr gut verschmerzen. Ich würde wieder fahren!

"Annulation d'un train de nuit 5 minutes avant le départ"

Annulation d'un train de nuit 5 minutes avant le départ sans explication et sans proposer d'alternative de transport. Nous n'avions jamais vécu une telle situation. Un superbe week-end à Berlin s'est transformé en cauchemar et gouffre financier (location hôtel, réservation restaurant, vol de retour perdus).
