"Just a bad experience all over"
Just a bad experience all over: Prague to Amsterdam. I booked the sleeper compartment for 3 people, 1 day before departure received the email that sleeper is not available anymore and only the lower option is available. Was too late to cancel and book a plane ticket, so had to go with this option. The train is very old, dusty and overall doesn’t give a clean feeling. Stops in the Netherlands were messed up, didn’t stop in Amsersfoort, was 1 hour late to Deventer etc. and all this without any warning. While I understand it is due to the rail works in the Netherlands, this information is known in advance but not mentioned on the ES website.

A FUIR

"We had a whole cabin for the family"
We had a whole cabin for the family. Very nice way to travel to Prague. Friendly staff. Last year we went to Berlin and took our bikes with us. The coach had room for almost 20 bikes. Unfortunately some have to be hang upright at the front wheel.

"Disappointed with train replacement by bus. Terrible experience!"
On March 21st, I received an email just a few hours before the scheduled departure time informing me that our train from Rotterdam to Berlin had been cancelled. The email offered two alternatives: (1) cancel the trip for a full refund, or (2) accept a downgrade to an overnight bus journey with a 25% refund. Given that we had an important commitment in Berlin the next morning, we had very little time to make alternative arrangements and reluctantly accepted the bus, assuming it would at least be a reasonably comfortable option for an overnight journey.
Unfortunately, the alternative bus was extremely uncomfortable, more akin to a low-cost travel service that would typically cost no more than €50 per person, or €150 in total. In contrast, we had paid €569.99 for three people, booking a private compartment on the night train with the expectation of traveling comfortably and getting a good night’s sleep.
Not only was the downgrade far below the standard of the original service, but the journey itself was chaotic. The bus departed late, the driver was unfamiliar with the route to pick up passengers in Amsterdam, and we ended up staying awake all night due to the lack of comfort.
I reached out to European Sleeper to request fairer compensation, explaining all of the issues above, but was told that the only option was the standard 25% refund (to be processed within 6 to 10 weeks). No formal appeal process was provided.
I am extremely dissatisfied with this solution and feel that it does not reflect the true inconvenience, stress, and financial loss we experienced.

"Semi Decent way to get to Berlin"
The company could really improve the overall experience for me to take it again as it was quite noisy, bumpy and not very comfortable seating (couchettes). For a decent price you get from AMS to BLN and avoid taking flights but you arrive very early at the destination. Information on which rail (spor) the train will come was nowhere to be found until 10 mins prior and once we arrive to our destination there was no signs that we had made it to BLN unless you checked through the window.

"Doing their best with old Sleepers"
Doing their best with old Sleepers, but why promise toiletries and slippers when you can't even supply water in the basin? Either journey, out and back?
Loos small and smelly!

"Night train at a affordable price"
Night train at a affordable price. Best alternative to avoid airplane, necessary for the climate. Great people to meet among co-travellers.

"Prima reis gehad!"

"Trains are old but gold!"
I've consistently had a great experience with European Sleeper. Yes the trains are older & the experience is a little unorthodox compared to the big players like NS, Thalys, Deutsche Bahn etc but you're supporting an underdog on the rails & traveling hundreds of kilometers with your eyes closed! Always courteous staff & a fun experience!

"very basic comfort"
Very friendly staff. But: very little compartment for 4 people to sleep with all the luggages, not very clean, not possible to wash yourself, no comfort at all...we arrived at our destination completely tired. We think it's more something for young people or backpackers.
