Old trains. Very uncomfortable journey. Wouldn't recommend.

"Un excellent voyage "

Un superbe voyage de Bruxelles à Prague que j'ai fait dans une voiture-lits hyper confortable où j'ai dormi presque non stop de Deventer à juste après Berlin. Le personnel est hyper serviable et le train est arrivé bien à l'heure à Prague. Je serai ravi de voyager de nouveau avec European Sleeper.

"Een heerlijke trip naar Praag met de nachtrein."

Een heerlijke trip naar de prachtige stad Praag.Geboekt in een 5persoonscouchette prive met de nodige hapjes en apero.Ondanks de oude rijtuigen was dit mijn 2de trip met European Sleeper en wat bijzonder is,de ramen kunnen open zodat je het geluid van de wielen en rails beter hoort, en je eens naar buiten kunt loeren waar de trein stopt.Als spoorwegman op rust is dit pure nostalgie,want ik was vroeger een fervent reiziger met de nachttreinen doorheen Europa en de vertragingen neem ik er gerust bij.

"Fun Experience"

I travelled from Amsterdam to Prague and it was a fun experience, I stayed in a Ladies only coupe and had a nice chat and even a good sleep.

Overall the experience was ok though the length of the trip was a bit too long...
What I did not like was:
- in the 5-places couchettes the bed numbering did not reflect the ones on the ticket (e.g. on the side with 2 beds there were 3 numbers - and there were passengers having these 3 numbers; ok at the end there were only 5 passengers but this require allocating beds internally which was not an easy job; it should not be our task - and the steward did not seem to care: 5 beds and 5 passengers so everything is fine - deal with it)
- on the way back suddenly the length of the trip was extended by 2.5h! it required changing my professional plans on Monday
- on the way back the heating was off during the night and it was very cold
- small thing like the fact that the steward did not know where the ladder is stored...

"Nostalgic - Brussels to Prague"

I travelled with 4 friends from Brussels to Prague, took a board game and played as we journeyed through Europe during the evening, night and morning.

It was a great experience. The carriages are old but clean and comfortable. It felt very nostalgic, like we were doing the journey 50 years ago.

The staff were very good and professional and the other passengers were really friendly, somehow people seem more familiar and pleasant when you are having a conversation in your pyjamas.

Overall I would say that it's a unique experience and worth trying at least once.

"Trains were on time for both trips"

Trains were on time for both trips. Beds were better than my expectations indeed I do not have high standards it does its job. For a long trip I would definitely choose it again. Also the WC was cleaner than my expectations. Not expect something like at your home, it is normal.

"Accompagnateurs au top"

Accompagnateurs au top. Trains couchettes vétustes, mais propre. Trop d'arrêt aux Pays-Bas.

"Prima trein met zeer vriendelijk personeel."

Vanuit Venetië Mestre met de European Sleeper naar Breda gereisd in een couchette. Vertrek was iets eerder dan oorspronkelijk gepland, maar daardoor reisden we met daglicht over de Brenner; een prachtige spoorlijn. Zoals gebruikelijk bij European Sleeper was het personeel zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Fijn dat werd omgeroepen wanneer er een langere stop was, zodat de benen even gestrekt konden worden. Ook zeer prettig dat de lakens pas na het uitstappen van de reizigers worden opgehaald. De trein was keurig op tijd bij aankomst in Nederland. Verwacht niet enorme luxe in een couchette, maar de rijtuigen waren schoon en goed onderhouden. Het zag er naar uit dat de meeste reizigers genoten van de gezelligheid, mooie landschappen en de ontspanning tijdens de rit. Kortom een zeer geslaagde reis en ik ga in de toekomst zeker weer een rit maken met European Sleeper. Hopelijk na Berlijn, Praag en Venetië binnenkort weer een nieuwe mooie bestemming in Europa!

"The only company where you can be downgraded"

I was surprised to learn the day before my departure that I received the message 'the train is full, you are downgraded.' I went from a 3-person cabin to a 6-person sleeper compartment with a compensation of €25, even though at the time of booking, the difference between the two comfort levels was €70. After my negative reaction, the compensation amount was increased to €50. Following another negative reaction, my partner and I traveled in a 6-person compartment, just the two of us. To this day, I have still not been refunded.The staff is absolutely charming and does their best to make the journey enjoyable.
