"Abysmal situation "

The below is a very brief overview, so it’s not too lengthy.

Work completed October 2023 (cost was £5,900… which we had to take a loan out for as we couldn’t afford it with cash/savings). I then called September 2024 to advise the rising damp was getting worse in some areas and we needed this checking and rectifying as it had been nearly 12 months. I was told someone would come out mid October. I then had to call 7 times to chase up if someone was definitely coming out. No call back. I then left a 1 star Google review, where I got a callback the following day. The lady who called me advised that the business had gone into liquidation and she was calling from the business that had acquired the previous one. She advised that legally they didn’t have to help, but as a gesture she would get someone to come out to see what they could do. She was true to her word and the guys who came to the property are the ones who did the work originally last year (which I found strange). They didn’t have their damp meter with them, just took some videos and pictures and advised someone would be back in touch. They didn’t actually check to see what was causing the issue… I was then advised over the phone that they would come out the following 2 Wednesdays to complete the work, whereby they would remove the old plaster and put new plaster on. We initially agreed to this, as we’re desperate to get the issue sorted as we want to sell the house. I then received an email that wanted me to agree to some terms before the work was carried out. The terms were basically to say that they have no legal obligation (even though they’ve offered to remedy the work), the 25 year warranty was void and they wouldn’t assist any further. We basically had no rights and wouldn’t be able to push back. As I was unaware I needed to agree to anything in writing, I looked into this further and could see that Home Energy Save UK, changed their name to NRG 4U Ltd in August 2024. Within a month, Property Reign Ltd changed their name to Home Energy Save GB Ltd (literally a 2 letter difference). And then within a month of that happening NRG 4U Ltd went into a members voluntary liquidation. Timing seems very convenient considering when the name changes happened. I pushed back, asking a number of questions, raising a number of concerns, to be basically told that the Home Energy Save GB Ltd has essentially purchased everything off the previous business (including, branding, website, customer details etc.). Which confuses me when they’re not honouring any of the warranties from the customer list they have inherited? And they didn’t answer anything apart from giving me the liquidators details. I have now contacted the liquidators, but currently awaiting on a response. Trading Standards have been notified, as have my bank. Whether this is some legal loophole or not, it is beyond disgusting that we had to take a loan out for nearly £6,000, where we were given a 25 year warranty on a product/service and now we’re stuck with rising damp, no warranty and still another half of the loan to pay. Trading Standards and my bank have told me to keep them updated, so we’ll see if the liquidators can resolve this.

"Con men"

Con men, sold me damp proofing for £2000 with a 10 year guarantee only for the damp to still be there 18months later and the guarantee is now void. Please don’t Easter your money with this firm, they won’t rectify your problem and they will liquidate the company when they take enough people’s money

"Avoid at all costs"

This company carried out a damp course on my property in July 2023. Now October 2024- The problem persists, after calling numerous times + emailing and being told I will get a response within 5 working days, nothing still.

I was promised a 12-month follow-up/check-up...This never happened.

I spent over £2000 on what I thought would rectify the issue, only for this to continue.

I believe they have now liquidated, and a 'new company' has taken over. Nothing but frustrating and disappointing how a company can take someone's money with the promise of fixing an issue, when this issue persists, they don't respond.

Update- the company have been out to my property and advised that I should have my chimney repointed, after this they have agreed to redo all work, that was previously done.
