"Use this company at your peril"
Use this company at your peril. They are a pack of charlatans.
I bought a gold necklace that was supposed to be 18 carat. This cost over £3000 yes £3000.
It was only 9 carat so only worth half of that money.
The lobster claw clasp was also broken. The same lobster claw was CLEARLY stamped as 9 carat.
I contacted them and they said there must have been a mistake in the listing...This immediately raised concerns with me because what do they ALWAYS say?
You have chance to view the item so there is no comeback. Read all the other reviews.
While on that comeback of you have chance to view they always say. Contact trading standards. They have a duty to point out any obvious things wrong with any item. For example if there is a clear bit missing or damage they have a duty to mention it in the listing. As I say contact trading standards or citizens advice who will tell you how to proceed under consumer rights law.
Getting back to my original problem. You might make a mistake saying an item is large size when it is small.
You do not make a mistake in a listing on a £3000 item.
Do they do it the other way.
I think this was a deliberate attempt at fraud.
I said I would take the item to the assay office for testing....I would have kept if it was 18ct even though it was plainly damaged.
The assay office confirmed it was only 9ct.
When I contacted John Pye they were all oh we are sorry. Return the item and we will pay the £84 assay office fee.
When the item was returned guess what they said they wew not paying the £84 because I could have returned it and they would have tested it for me.....That was never mentioned until after it was returned.
Upshot is their attempt at fraud cost me £84 and a day travelling to Sheffield and back.
They are absolute charlatans who should not be allowed to operate an auction house. Trading standards informed if everybody does likewise this place will be closed down.

"Beyond sad"
Sadly. I have to say. I not learned my lesson from John pye. I shold off read the terms and conditions. So please be careful. What you bid for.
I personally think you shouldn't bid or buy anything from a site that is not close. As you cannot see your purchase. Its a game of Russian roulette. Sadly I'm still feeling the brunt off my purchase. Me thinking I had a bargain. Saving hard ect. Brought a oven. As anyother dissatisfied customer. It was beyond useful. Hoping for the best. I had a professional come too have a look. He words were sorry love . Sell it for parts. Than instead charging me £50.00. He left. Know I have a oven. That don't work. So John pye. Hope you injoy a home cooked meal every evening because me and family doesn't. Fact. I'm having another issue. Sadly.

"JP should have the decency to advise if…"
JP should have the decency to advise if the goods are new or second hand. If second hand suggest goods be avoided as probably faulty, incomplete or broken. The reply to complaint is that there is the opportunity to view. The commission taken and postage costs are ridiculous.

"Chesterfield auction house."
Chesterfield auction house.
Received a box of cards which were mouldy, wet, damaged and stuck together. Paid over £40, the box arrived split down the side. Reached out for help to be told the photos that I had provided did not show the damaged I had mentioned. Could do nothing as I did not travel 120 miles to view in the 2 hour viewing slot and then recited the T's & C's over & over. Their photos of the lot did not show any damage surprisingly.

"Selling junk damaged items .be aware no refund. "
Selling junk fit for the bin ,bought a washing machine leaking everywhere, contacted them .no answer, straight after tried to cancel a bid 24hrs previous the ending time on a dishwasher , they ignored me , so I have to pay to avoid trouble as I'm new to the site , this dishwasher fit for bin only , dosn't work, contact the useless customer service they denied responsibility, contact via form no answer back , actually contacting customers right as the auctions thinking we are donkeys, we have to accept thier rubbish and shut up my mouth , I advice everyone to do so to stop those scammer as I'm not the only one here. Plus THEY COUNTER BET INTERNALLY UNTIL THEY GET THE PRICE THEY WANT plus items are used badly plus They knowingly sell faulty untested goods plus they are no better than scammers .Then when you complain they refuse to refund , advertise goods with the original price as new to scamm buyers.
Rating a 1 star as you cannot do zero

"Buyer be (very) aware"
Received an incomplete (very small but essential) item that wasn't mention this anywhere. Only response from JP was that I had the opportunity to view in person. While this is true the risks associated with buying from JP just isn't worth it. Just use eBay, at least they make an effort to look after customers. I get the impression that JP just punt any old crap they can and don't care if the items work or are complete.

"Sent me a hoover without a battery"
Sent me a hoover without a battery. The listing they put up funninly enough seemed to leave this little fact out, now they won't accept a refund. I am disabled and unfortunately in no condition to travel long distances for the viewing; however, they could care less and basically told me to go kick rocks.
