As previously mentioned, they falsely claim that TDS suggests a 90-day period for deposit negotiations, using this as an excuse to delay returning the deposit.
Even after TDS intervened and confirmed the deposit amount to be returned, the company still did its best to delay the payment. Despite both tenants confirming the details, they repeatedly requested confirmation of the bank account information, which had already been submitted in writing.
They have delayed the process both before and after the agreement. I do not know their exact reasoning, but I suspect they are attempting to gain additional interest from holding the deposit. I think they will delay returning the deposit until the legal deadline.
If this is not the company’s intention, I strongly suggest they improve their staff’s professionalism and handling of such matters.

"Terrible post-tenancy deposit protocol"
Following a recent tenancy with the team at Thornley Groves Southern Gateway, the agency has been witholding over £1,500 in a secured tenancy deposit for six weeks with little to no communication, despite confirming that they have an initial valuation for the very minor deductions.
The team don't answer emails, don't respond to calls and generally aren't concerned that they're witholding such a large sum of money from us despite us repeatedly emailing and calling for an update.
The situation is serious enough that we're reviewing legal options going forward as we have no confidence they will release the deposit back to us.
