"Good looking bike."
Good looking bike.
It took over three months to arrive, as opposed to the original one month given, but the COVID situation didn’t help. The company kept me fully informed of the situation though, which was very considerate.
As it arrived late November, as opposed to September, I have only had the chance to use it three times.
The instructions were clear, which is so refreshing, and I thank Furo for that.
However, I have had great difficulties with the seat post. It doesn’t appear to tighten/secure properly, the seat lowers after going over bumps and I took to carrying pliers with me to tighten it, every time I rode it. The shaft isn’t a conventional shape, and it would be difficult to resolve the issue, according to my local cycle repair shop, but they tightened it, to the best of their abilities.
I drive a Nissan Juke, and need to be able to lower the seat, to get the folded bike in successfully. I’m now a little apprehensive at adjusting the seat, in case the problem reoccurs.

"I am loving my bike now it has finally…"
I am loving my bike now it has finally arrived.
It took about 3 1/2 months and there were not many updates on the progress of my order, which was frustrating and at times I was tempted to cancel, However, I am glad I didn't. I am not especially fit and am something of a fair weather cyclist, but can get up hills with ease. The bike looks smart and is pretty simple to use, although there are rather more gears than I personally need.

"Initial order, delivery and first impressions"
Initial order and delivery
I ordered my Furo X back in June 2020, right in the middle of the pandemic. Initially, delivery was quoted as being early August. This unsurprisingly was delayed several times due to various complications caused by the pandemic. At first I was disappointed because I heard about the further delays only after chasing the company via email. This I found very frustrating. However, this was remedied by Furosystems when they introduced an update portal on their website. This made it easier to see why there were further delays and to what extent. Anyways, after several delays due to the knock-on effect that the pandemic was having, my Furo X arrived early December. The packaging left a lot to be desired for a bike costing £1800. Several of the smaller packages containing pedals etc showed signs of external damage, that said none of the enclosed items were damaged in themselves. The bike itself had a small area around the frame hinge where the paint had flaked away. The area was small 3mm x 3mm and after reporting to Furosystems, they immediately advised to go to Halfords to get a paint match so that I could touch this in myself, reimbursing the cost of the paint.
The Bike itself
I must say I am extremely pleased with bike. Performance is more than what I expected and it really is a joy to use. I have made some modifications to the original spec that I believe have improved the overall rideability of the bike. The first thing I changed were the tyres. The original fit tyres have a maximum pressure of 45psi. I am around the 90kg mark and found that even inflated to the maximum specified pressure, the ride was too bouncy and led to an unstable feeling whilst riding. I replaced the original tyres with a pair of Schwalbe Road Cruiser tyres that have a maximum pressure of 85psi. They also have an element of puncture resistance built in. Inflating these to 80psi has transformed the ride and I would thoroughly recommend these as a first upgrade, or possibly they should be fitted as standard?
The second change I made was to the saddle. Although there is nothing wrong with the original that is fitted, I found it too narrow and was experiencing pain in my sit bones after a 30min ride. I exchanged this saddle for a Brookes B67 leather sprung saddle. Again the difference that this has made has been astounding. It offers a comfortable seating position combined with just the right amount of suspension to offset the high pressure of the tyres without ever becoming bouncy. The concept behind a leather saddle is that it conforms to your shape over a period of time, proving an extremely comfortable platform. Since fitting mine I have not had any issues with pain in the sit bones!
Overall, with the small modifications that I have made, I am extremely pleased with my purchase. The delivery delays were beyond anyone's control, but the communication of these delays could have been handled better and earlier. The changes made to the website went a long way to rectifying the earlier communication from being reactive to proactive.

"Good Bike but not exactly to specs"
I received the Furo about 9 month ago and have clocked around 1,000 km. I am using it for commuting. The commute is 24 km both ways and around 300m of difference in altitude. In my experience so far, the bike is able to provide the 40 km on one charge. It rides well even on longer stretches and is reasonably comfortable. When folded, it is a bit heavy and clumsy to transport. I bought the bike for its low weight and was disappointed. The website advertises the bike as being 15kg fully equipped. It is however 17kg with kickstand and rack and mudguards. The explanation of Furo System was, that the weight is without kickstand and rack (which is not indicated clearly on the website). Still, without kickstand and rack the bike still weights 16kg. After 7 month I had a battery issue and Furo responded well and in an uncomplicated matter to the issue and fixed it.
Pro:
- good bike
- reasonably comfortable
- good range
- good customer service
cons:
- The bike is not 15kg fully equipped as indicated on the website (it is 16kg and 17kg with kickstand and rack)
- The battery charge indicator varies a lot and is not reliable indication for the level of charge of the battery. E.G. I ride the bike and there is only 2 out or 5 left. I stop for 20 minutes and the indication is up to 4 out of 5 (without charging).
- clumsy to transport
- standard installation is rear brake on the left side of the handlebar (can be changed).

"Great bike, shame about the shipping Delay"
The product appears to be well built and exactly as described. However, the shipping date was massively delayed due to COVID.
I was kept informed throughout but perhaps a discount or complimentary item as a courtesy would have been nice.

"Well worth the price tag"
The bike eventually arrived 2 months after the promised date but this wasn’t entirely unexpected owing to the delays because of the pandemic. Contact with the supplier throughout the delivery period however was excellent and I was kept informed at every stage of the process.
The bike itself is everything I wanted. Once assembled (easy) and battery charged (quick, about 3 hours) it was good to go and it didn’t disappoint. It’s weight is good for an electric bike (15 kgs) and it folds away small enough to put in the boot of a car. I wouldn’t want to carry it any distance as it’s not a neat fold and it would need to be tied with string to stop it from falling open but it’s fine for throwing in the back of the car or storing in the shed.
On the road it takes all the effort out of riding up steep gradients and it looks good. It’s a very solid looking bike and feels solid too. I think it is well worth the price tag.

"Back to cycling"
Although it took a little longer to get my bike than anticipated it's now here and been ridden a couple of times, enjoyably, without putting excess pressure on my bad leg, thanks furosystems love my bike.
Had a loose connection on back light/indicator, contacted furosystems and a new light was sent out straight away. Great job.. thumbs up from me.

"First Class Service"
During what must have been a torrid time for business you have kept me informed of the delivery dates and I am delighted to now own and ride my Furo Max X.
The only problem I have encountered is trying to put the bike into Walk Assist mode but fortunately I live on a flat part of London and Covid has curtailed my rides.
Perhaps you could help me solve this problem?
Finally the ability to pay for my bike over a 6 month period really helped my finances without having to pay any interest.
All in all I have been very impressed with the way you have conducted business.

"Furo x cycles. We ordered two folding carbon furo x…"
We ordered two folding carbon furo x bikes. Order went very smoothly and even with covid 19 our order was delivered to us as soon as possible. We were constantly contacted via email and our order was tracked. Items were well packed, easy to assemble and look very attractive and well built. Overall excellent quality and I would definitely recommend this product. Barry.

"Slow delivery but an excellent product"
Furo were very helpful when I bought the bicycle through the Cyclescheme. Then they were hit by several setbacks and delivery of the bike took a whopping five and a half months. They did keep me informed of progress at every stage and tried their best, but it was a long wait.
When it actually arrived, the bicycle itself was excellent and pretty much everything I could have hope for. The signalling tool/back-light is needlessly hard to use (when it works) and the bike should come with some sort of strap to hold it together when folded, but all the rest is top quality and it's very fun to ride.
