"Good concept, sloppy work."
I’ve used Havebike before with no issues and generally impressed with the concept. I booked a regular service this time. The collection and delivery of my bike was, as usual very good with super friendly staff. I had to have a shift cable replaced which I knew so again no issues at all with that. However when I received the bike back, the rear derailleur had not been indexed properly, luckily this was a simple fix for me, but it’s just sloppy (and part of their service). It also makes me question what has and has not been checked during this service.

"My experience is very similar to a…"
My experience is very similar to a number of the other negative reviews. I booked the deluxe service at around £100, only to be telephoned and advised that the overall cost would come to nearly double that (parts and labour). Chief among the irritation was a £30 charge/quote for servicing the headset. They have tried to explain it to me, however, I still can't understand how they intended to charge £30 for a service of the headset (which I think is part of the bike) when I had already paid for a deluxe service of you guessed it ... the bike. Other irritations are £20 charges for changing the tyres/tubes. Again, whilst I'm sure these charges are buried somewhere on their website (and obviously their service is directed precisely towards people who don't have time to scour the website) it is irritating to be charged an extortionate amount for a change of tyres when they are pulling the bike to bits in the context of a deluxe service in any case. How is a change of tyres not part of a deluxe service? They are making a margin on the parts (which were quoted well above their high street price - £45 for tyre which I subsequently bought online for £32). Is that not sufficient? If you are going to use these guys, expect extra charges from things which you might assume form part of the service. I think the better advice is to take your bike to your local bike shop face to face, where customer relationships and service might be more highly valued. They get two stars (rather than one) because they refunded the service cost and returned the bike with no argument.

I've used Havebike twice now and the service has been excellent - initial booking queries, bicycle repair as well as the drivers who pick up and drop off - all of them thorough, friendly, receptive and flexible.

"Very poor Brompton experience"
My Brompton was collected in early July for a deluxe service. Got a call saying it needed a lot of work (totalling £400) which I authorised.
Got another call asking for more time to do the work, no problem. Got another call saying they had broken the stem of my Brompton but would replace it at their cost.
They took payment in JULY however I got the bike back in the last week of September. According to their CEO the stem was ordered August 12th. A whole month after breaking it. Why so long?
When I got the bike back the gears didn’t work, the dynamo cabling had been bodged and other minor things were wrong. They kindly offered to take the bike back to look at the faults. However they had had my bike for 2.5 months and I wasn’t keen on letting them near it again. They have lost my trust. They then offered me a free service. Comical, I had to laugh.
I used to recommend this outfit to fellow Brompton owners all the time but can’t do that anymore. Breaking the stem I could understand. Accidents happen but to take my money, then go radio silent, blame Brompton but take a MONTH to order the replacement part is bang out of order. To return my bike were I was unable to use it is shocking. Thank the lord for YouTube….
