"Insurance scam..."

As many others have said here, the Super Excess Refund insurance purchased as part of the ‘Relax Package’ with this company appears to be a scam. I made a claim for €550 on 20 August which I was told on 2 September had been accepted and would be processed by the Accounting Department. Almost three months later, I have received nothing and the company has become uncontactable. They have altered their phone line system so that it is ‘impossible’ to speak to anyone about insurance claims. Customer Services allege that they are unable to do anything other than send messages to the insurance department. I am informed each time I call that someone will email me later that day, but this has never happened. As others have noted, the location of the company in Slovenia makes it difficult to bring court proceedings, so the only available option is to contact the police.

UPDATE - insurance payment received

I wrote a letter to this company which I sent by email and by hard-copy mail to its headquarters in Slovenia. In the letter I stated that if I did not receive the funds I was owed within seven days, I would (1) file a complaint against Vehicle Rent with the Financial Ombudsman Service in the United Kingdom and (2) seek a European Order for Payment against Car Target Group from the Slovenian courts, under the EOP Regulation. I received my money today. I recommend others who are suffering from the same issues take a similar approach.

We booked a rental car in Sicily, including damage security. We had some damage so we filled all the required forms. Our claim was accepted in June 2019 and we were told to wait for 90 days for the payment of €900. Very long, but okay, we waited.

It's been over 150 days now and we still haven't received any payment. I've tried to call them a dozen times and wrote several emails, the only reply I get is that they have informed and escalated to the accounting department but I never hear from them.

Furthermore, no payment date is given and I cannot contact the accounting department directly. We don't have any confidence and patience anymore, that this will come to a good end. We decided to go to the police and find a debt collector to retrieve our money.

I would not book with them ever again.

As many other people have mentioned quite worryingly the company sound a scam. All great booking car hire and easy pick up fine. But paid extra for the protection and still waiting for refund! Email replies seem to just keep delaying it more. Said I can have money back and had to send loads of documents. But still feel I'm not going to get a penny back. So a waste of time and money.
Dont offer protection if your not prepared to payout. Wont use again!!!

As several others have said, their package of insurance waivers appears to be something of a scam. Having had a window chipped during our car hire in June, we made a full application under the "Super Excess Refund" policy, and were told in August that it would be paid within 90 days. It isn't clear why it would take so long, but having reached that time period there is now more delay and on explanation.
As they are based in Slovenia, it is very difficult to see how a claim can be made against them. I am currently considering the EU Online Dispute Resolution service and also the EU Small Claims or Payment Orders procedure
