"This company is a SCAM"
This company is a SCAM. I bought the excess insurance cover (I should have read the reviews first!) and unfortunately got a small dent for which I was, obviously, overcharged when I brought the car back.
I contacted the claim department to get my money back, and this is what they replied:
"Dear Ms [NAME WITHELD],
thank you for your email.
I confirm your claim has been successfully processed and your bank account details forwarded to our accounting on Fri, 2nd Aug 2019. You are entitled for a refund of 402,60 EUR. Based on our terms and conditions administration fees are not covered by Super excess refund option.
Please note it may take up to 90 days for the refund to be processed, however I will get back to you as soon as I receive a confirmation.
I thank you again for your cooperation and patience, and wish you a lovely day."
the 90 days have passed and no view of the money in sight. I contactedd them a few more times, but no reply exept for the following:
"Dear Ms [ ],
Thank you for your message.
We sincerely apologise for the duration of the case and any inconvenience which may have caused, but our standard waiting period for issuing refunds can take up to 90 days.
In regards to the refund itself we will do everything we can, in order to guarantee the refund will be provided as soon as possible.
We will keep you updated on the whole matter.
Again, please accept our sincerest apologies for the duration of the case and any inconvenience caused.
Thank you for your generous patience and understanding on the matter."
Needless to say, they did not keep me updated on anything.
If you want peace of mind, AVOID THESE SCAMSTERS!

I am now chatting with what I can only assume is a bot (Damagoj) and I asked for a contact number of email for the claims department. Looks like it is impossible to contact them directly. This should raise suspicions in itself.

Une entreprise vraiment a éviter, j'ai réservé une voiture a Marrakech presque 2 mois avant,le moment de ma réservation j'ai bien utilisé ma carte bleu débit, donc l'entreprise a débité mon compte sans me prévenir par e-mail que ma carte est sera pas accepté le moment de la récupération du la voiture a Marrakech, donc j'arrive sur place j'ai trouvé personne il faut attendre deux heures pour que une personne ramène la voiture, je lui donné le permis et la carte bleu,il ma dit impossible avec cette carte la,mais t'inquiète pas tu sera rembourser,on va annuler la réservation.
Le long demain j'ai envoyé un e-mail a l'entreprise, la réponse c'était NON,vous serez pas rembourser monsieur par ce que vous avez présenté une carte de débit.

Avoid this company or rather broker at all costs. I booked a car for August 2019 in Sardinia. All went well until I arrived to pick the car up from Sicily By Car. Waited over 3 hours at the desk to pick the car up. Phoned Vehicle Rent who were unable to do anything. Complained when I got back to UK and they offered me £10 for the inconvenience. (In all fairness the car was good)
I will never use Vehicle Rent again nor Sicily By Car. If it looks too good to be true then it usually is.

"I have booked a car online using this…"
I have booked a car online using this company. When I went to the counter to pick it up I was told I actually need to pay more to get the key. These were some extra fees not advertised by Vehicle Rent (or stated in the voucher they have given me). I did pay the extra in order to get the car and I have informed Vehicle Rent about what happened. They did apologize for this and have offered to refund me the money I paid extra.
2mths later I have not got the refund and they don't reply to my emails either.

"FRAUD COMPANY DO NOT USE!!!"
As everyone on this site mentioned, they are not paying any claims. It has been 105 days and still there isn't any payment for my 150€ claim. They approved my claim on 15th of July 2019 and said that refund will be paid in 90 days. Unfortunately there isn't any payment received to my account yet. Even though i wrote so many e-mails nobody replied them. They obviously ignore you. When i call +44 203 1295 406 phone number they say that they are really sorry for the delay, but they don't do anything. Do not use this company for renting a car. STAY AWAY from Vehicle rent or Car Target Group!!!!

"TOTAL FRAUD AND NO CUSTOMER SERVICE>"
Total fraud. DO NOT USE. Turned up to collect car and it was not available. Did not provide car and now I have to make a claim to see if they will refund me. GO DIRECT TO CAR HIRE COMPANIES.
UPDATE - No response to many emails. No person to speak to. They say that the person handling the claim is out of the office. However, immediately after my call they emailed me. They now want proof that I was there on time to collect a vehicle that was not there in any case. Clearly trying to find a reason not to pay by saying I was to blame. PLEASE PLEASE NEVER EVER USE THIS COMPANY. THEY HAVE NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ALL AND ARE SIMPLY RUNNING A FRAUD OR SCAM. GO DIRECT TO THE HIRE COMPANY.

Update(30 December): I finally got my money after waiting for more than 4 months.

I filed a complaint to Financial ombudsmen and it work. Please use their online service and file the complaint. The more complaints are filed, the more likely this company will go out of business.
Update (20 November): No response from them. Please avoid. I hope all people will check them on Trustpilot before booking.

This is absolutely fraudulent business. Using Insurance fraud to scum people.
They are selling insurance policy but never refund you if you make a claim.
Customer service used to have phone number(was useless anyways, you can't get any concrete information about your case), now( November 2019) you can only send them an email, which they never reply.
I'm waiting for more than 120 days to get my £500 back for a hair thin scratch on the car bumper.
So far I got only one email from them, in July ( now is November ) saying that they will refund me within 90 days.
All my following email stays un-responded.
Update: seems like they respond to all negative reviews with generic response.
No follow up actions are taken. I haven’t heard from them yet .
Update: I’ve got response fro them with generic:
‘ we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.
We did not receive yet the confirmation from the accounting department that your refund was issued. We reassure you that we are doing everything that we can regarding your case to arrange the refund in the shortest time possible.
We sincerely apologize for the delay in your case and we thank you for your patience. ’
They are definitely fraud operator. Waiting for you to forget or just give up.

"If I could give zero stars I would"
If I could give zero stars I would. Vehicle rent advertise the "relax package" giving customers the peace of mind that they will be reimbursed within a 90 day period. I had confirmation that my claim had been authorised and was being processed on the 14th August, but I should await a further confirmation from the accounts department. I have emailed and called several times, yet I am still waiting for this confirmation. I find it hard to believe that Vehicle Rent only have agents available to speak to if you are calling to make a reservation. Yet, if you want to speak to the claims department or speak to a Manager, they don't have phone lines. I have asked several times who Vehicle Rent is regulated by so that I can escalate this complaint, yet the agents on the phone do not have this information. How can Vehicle Rent still be operating if this is how they deal with their customers?! Surely you are not expecting every customer to have to take this matter to a solicitor and incur more costs! Just sort yourselves out and be honest with the customer, or stop advertising the "relax package". This is fraud. If you say a refund will be processed within 90 days, then do it! I expect I will get a standard response to this review telling me that the accounts department are dealing with my request. Not good enough. You are generating more work for yourselves and more work for your customer service agents by operating in such an unprofessional manner. If any other customers know who Vehicle Rent is regulated by, then please post on here so that other customers know who to escalate their complaint to.
UPDATE**
I've now had a response which you can see below. I dont need you to "do your best to process my refund in the timescales quoted,". These are YOUR terms and conditions set out by YOU. If you cant adhere to your own T&C's then dont advertise the relax package until you can start processing the refunds within the 90 days you've quoted! You have until the 12th November to refund me the €1157 or I will be taking legal action! You're a disgrace. This is a huge amount of money to my family and we need it back!
UPDATE** 11th November
Day 90 of waiting for my refund and still nothing. Called the customer service number AGAIN to be told that they were sorry and would escalate AGAIN. Selling an excess refund product and not processing your customer refunds within your 90 day time frame set out in your own T&Cs is fraud. If you are thinking of purchasing the "relax" package, then don't as you will never see your money again. Go elsewhere for car hire and purchase excess refund from a reputable British company who is regulated by a British governing body. I've asked on numerous occasions who vehicle rent is regulated by but the staff allege they don't know. AVOID!!!
