I initiated a request for a sum of money from my drawdown account and it was successfully dealt with efficiency. However the amount requested was taxed at source, which in itself was no problem. But the amount taken exceeded more than 1/3 of the money requested! It has left me disillusioned about the benefits of having this account After all I feel I have already previously payed tax on the amount in the account and being taxed again to such a high degree seems somewhat invidious.
I am 85 years old. Retired, with no income. Needed the money for an unexpected medical bill. The amount I eventually received did not meet my requirements. Not Nucleus’ fault. The transaction was handled very professionally and efficiently. But it does raise the question in my mind ‘why bother?’
