"Disappointing Experience Due to Misrepresentation"
I recently purchased an item from John Pye during one of their VIEWING SALES auctions, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. While I understand that items in such auctions are sold "as seen" and may have defects, I was deeply disappointed to find that the item I received was misrepresented in the listing photos.
Specifically, the damaged portion of the item was deliberately concealed in the photos provided, making it impossible to assess the true condition before bidding. This kind of misrepresentation undermines the trust buyers place in the auction house's transparency and accuracy when listing items.
When I reached out to John Pye to address the issue, they responded by reiterating their standard terms, emphasizing the "as seen" nature of the sale. While I appreciate their clarification, I believe this situation goes beyond normal imperfections and enters the realm of intentional omission, which is unacceptable for any reputable auction house.
Unfortunately, they declined to offer any resolution or goodwill gesture despite the clear evidence of misrepresentation. This lack of accountability is disappointing, especially given the reputation I had previously associated with John Pye.
I strongly urge potential buyers to exercise extreme caution when bidding in their auctions and to thoroughly inspect items during viewing periods, as you cannot rely on the listing photos alone to reflect the item's true condition. Transparency is a cornerstone of trust, and I hope John Pye takes steps to improve their practices to prevent similar experiences for other buyers in the future.

"Complete con"
Everything they sell is faulty/broken/unusable. Do not waste your money. Sold me 3 boxes of kids toys, approx 20-25 items. Every single one of these items was broken/faulty (this was not stated on the listing). Some of the items were actually smashed into small pieces inside their boxes.
They then blame you for not attending the viewing at the auction site itself and refuse to issue a refund.
There's a good reason none of the items have a description...
John Pye are literally selling GARBAGE and then refusing refunds. Dont be fooled... absolute scam

"Quick to take payments but delivery…"
Quick to take payments but delivery service is terrible.
I have once again waited over 2 weeks and still no parcel.
Boxes turn up in a terrible mess.
Lids broken on items and if you complain you get pushed aside.

"You can get bargains however some items…"
You can get bargains however some items bought are not listed accurately. It promotes an online platform yet you do really need to go view the items so your not buying crap. EU plugs on items , damaged goods inside boxes . Items missing from boxes . This has a feeling of somewhere retailers dump their crap . Some items have been great value just be careful and prepared to have some disappointments .

"Mixed"
I have purchased numerous items from the site. It can be a great experience but also disappointing when an item does not work or could have been demonstrated better with photographs. I purchased an oven which appeared to be new but proceeded to pop and not work. A TV which works but a line on the screen. I have had to repair a number of items. Buyer beware. There is little to no comeback.

"My first auction with John Pye and they sent the wrong items"
My first auction with John Pye and they sent me someone else's Lot.
Multiple comms and a 2 week process of hassle.
They failed to find all of my correct Lot, they only found 1 of my 2 items.
Had to take the wrongly delivered items to the Post Office to return them, pain as a large box. JP should have had this collected from my address as it was their mistake.
After chasing i finally got the part of my Lot they found 2 weeks later.
Ended up with a partial refund, but not the goods i won and wanted. The refund value (50% hammer price only, not delivery cost) didn't make any allowance for the hassle or poor experience.
I had my eye on a few more lots, but have decided that this experience has put me off wanting to bid on anything else. Looking for another auction site.

"A bit disappointed with customer service "
I cannot count how many items I’ve bought from John Pye over the last few months following Storm Babet which ruined all our belongings. However, over the last two weeks I’ve been left rather disappointed because, on two occasions, one by Cheaterfield and second by Birmingham site, my items have been lost, meaning I returned empty handed. All that has been offered is a refund. I have had to take time off work and don’t even ask about the fuel costs (total round trips of 184 miles to both these sites from where I live), but have returned empty handed. All I have been offered is a refund on the items I paid for. It doesn’t end there, the item that was apparently lost by Chesterfield site have come back on sale in this week’s lots. No matter how much I’ve asked them to allow me to collect the item I paid for, I’ve been told they cannot do anything because once the item goes on sale cannot be retracted (Please note, no one has bid on the item yet at the time of me writing this review). They almost sound like there is a higher power who adds all the lots to sale and without their authority, poor humans on these sites cannot do anything about it. They have also said that the item are not the same but I have sent them pictures of both lots, showing the packings of both items to be exactly the same, with exact damages to areas of the packaging. But they don’t want to accept this.
Prior to these experiences I was extremely happy with John Pye and I could not stop speaking positively about them to all my mates and family members. But since these experiences, I must say I have been left with a huge disappointment.
