"Rip off delivery charges..."
They have some good items, but you need to be careful what you bid for. The biggest issue is the cost they charge for delivery. They are absolutely ridiculous, £60 to £85 to deliver small furniture items. They are plucking figures out of the sky. I saw two items exactly the same, one was £45 to deliver. The other exact same item then quoted £85 to deliver.. make it make sense...

"Lot of variety but auctions run up over…"
Lot of variety but auctions run up over the prices that you can actually purchase them from elsewhere with protection of the items in full working condition.
I usually purchase from them to resell but looking at the auction prices, I do wonder who's actually buying stuff higher and at more risk than going elsewhere. I.e lego boxes which can be found cheaper on ebay are somehow go roughly £20-40 more on Johnpye. I'm truly baffled.
Items such as headphones which are broken most of the time end up higher auction than if I purchase on amazon or ebay.
Something really seems to be going on internally with the auctions. Whether for personal use or reselling purposes, the items are not worth the cost.
Quite disappointed as I used to purchase a lot but now seeing hike in prices of items which makes 0 sense has put me off quite a bit.

"Proceed with extreme caution"
I recently used this company for the first time and, unfortunately, had a poor experience. They take advantage of auction listing rules to sell items without providing consumers with any meaningful information or protection regarding the condition of those items. Their terms clearly state: "The Lot is sold as seen with no grading or guarantee given, and is sold subject to any faults, defects, and imperfections which may subsist at the time of the sale."
While they offer a public viewing of items, which seems to protect them legally, it does little to safeguard buyers, especially those new to this type of platform. I purchased a children's bike from their Chesterfield location, but it turned out to be unsafe and unusable. Sadly, this has left me out of pocket with no recourse for a refund or resolution.
This experience has been disappointing, and I urge anyone considering this company to proceed with caution, especially if you're unable to inspect the items thoroughly in person.

"Thank you very much Logan for helping…"
Thank you very much Logan for helping me solve the problem. I am very disappointed that my Marshalls headphones that I paid for disappeared and I received an empty box.. I used to be a very keen buyer at this auction, now after several incidents I am starting to fear that something will disappear again or damaged , that is putting me off the auction unfortunately … Hope they will sort this problem out and and I will be able to buy stuff with full confidence again..

"I have had many items from John Pye…"
I have had many items from John Pye Auctions over the past couple of months. Some have been really good, some disappointing and a couple of items in a really poor condition.
I raised an issue with them about a toaster that had stains and grease marks all over it. The metal cover should be chrome but had stained brown from constant use and heat. Also a kettle which again was dirty, stained and inside was full of calcium deposits. None of this was obvious from the photos. It certainly wasn't mentioned in the description.
They looked like they had been in a building site mess room.
I raised the issue and have been told not to rely on photos or descriptions of lots. Instead attend a viewing.
Really, for a kettle and a toaster.
So don't rely on photos or lot descriptions.
It's not the money. I didn't ask for a refund. It's asking John Pye to have a little. Bit of quality control. If goods are in such a poor condition, don't sell them or be honest in the descriptions.

"A rip off auction site"
A rip off auction site. Went for handheld blender which I was after but seeing their auction site with other items I thought would pay a bit more and get other items so I ended up paying a bit more than a blender would cost hoping all the other items would cover up for this. Today received the items and out of the 5 items received the main item the handheld blender does not work faulty, the electric kettle has broken glass and the rice cooker no power. Only the small slow cooker and soup maker works and these items I was really after. I rang them and as I did not go to the auction site to see them they are not refundable or returnable. Just feel they rip you off and then why offer online auction. A rip off site and a very poor experience. Say upfront these items are faulty. Their customer service team were not helpful as their excuse was you could have gone and seen it before bidding meaning to drive 300 miles to Edinburgh. Ah well hope next year is better without dealing with companies like this.

"Run away as fast as the speed of light"
Okay so the company is using loophole to sell completely unusable product to their customers. In this current period of fnal difficulties, everyone is trying to save some money. General people do not know much about auction and how it works. They use this loophole. They will keep a small 2 hour window period on a busy working day so that people like would not come to see the item, look at the price online, see its cheaper with some damages with the original box (thats how they present it online). Once the product comes to you will frustrate with loss of sleep and you dumped the pennies down the drain. None of the product they sent me actually works. All of them are used and they belong to the waste disposal centre rather than being sold.
Examples:
1. Disklock has only one key (3 originally), and the spring do not work.
2. Tower electric salt and pepper grinder does not have the bottom battery bracket, so you cannot use it.
3. Jump starter does not have a battery charger
4. Iron board cover tie clip torn apart
5. Oil spray bottle spring broken
6. Luggage has a large tear at the bottom
7. Electric back scrubber does not run
Unfortunately I got greedy and bid 1 day and this is what I got. I wasted these hard earned money.
The catch they have is it is on auction and their was a time for displaying the item hence you cannot return it.
If you are wealthy, donate or try to buy from charity shops. At least they check whether the product is working or not.
Utterly frustrated. Now my is not talking to me.

"Stay clearly away"
I have bought stuff from these site loads of time and each time I have to be very careful to read description of items and zoom the pictures 100% to see what I want to buy because they are always misleading. Last week I bought a Vax Mac air vacuum as it was described with pictures referencing the item clearly but I got a Vax 1800 watt full of dirts, even the suction pipe was stuffed with dirts. I wonder who package some dirts and charge you for delivery? Wrote to the customer care and didn't get a resolute answer from them.. nothing. They just confirmed they have received my complaint. That was the third time I have been missold. Stay away from this site. Their vat alone on bids is so high that your better going on Amazon to buy a brand new item with warranty and a peace of mind.

"Having bought from here loads in the…"
Having bought from here loads in the past I am finding now the quality and quantity of goods poor. Price has definitely gone up recently and the Rrp are often inflated. The boxes themselves I have bought quite a few mixed clothes boxes in the past and they have been really good big boxes with brand new branded clothes however recently I bought a box it was half the size of previous ones with cheap clothes unbranded and dirty. Really disappointing for a company I have used so much previously
