"JACKED PRICE UP AFTER I MADE A "REASONABLE OFFER" WHICH THEY INVITED."

Inquired about a used transmission. They quoted me 1020 for a transmission with low miles. Day later they emailed a new offer with $50 off the price and stated that they would consider all reasonable offers. I emailed back, inquired about the fit for my vehicle (w/ VIN #) and offered them $900. They merely replied that their best price was the $1020 (went back up $50!!!) and never addressed the "fit".
I was going to order anyway, using their old offer with the $50 off, then read their fine print which essentially says they don't guarantee the mileage they quote on the part they're selling, all orders are final and they won't guarantee a shipping or delivery date, etc... Was enough to make me look for reviews on them before punching in my CC info.
Glad I read the reviews, most are negative, most fall into the specific areas that I was concerned about.

These "people" (and I use the quotes liberally) are scammers who've changed their business name several times: Quality Used Transmissions, SW Transmissions, Engine & Transmission World, Racine Transmission, etc, etc. Looks like they are based in Racine, WI. DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM THEM. They do not send items on time. They do not give full refunds for cancelled orders and claim a "25% restocking fee". LOL - how do you claim to "restock" something that never left your possession??!! They do not honor warranties and will give you the runaround, hang up on you, swear at you, etc. They have hundreds of online complaints, have an "F" rating on BBB, and are being investigated by the state and FBI. Absolute crooks.

reading all these reviews and I have to wonder if people just have no ability to read and follow directions.

I bought a used transmission from Quality Used Transmissions for a 1995 4runner 4x4. The transaction was basically smooth, there was a hic-cup, but Q.U.T. handled it as best as I could have expected.

got the first transmission and it was obvious that whomever pulled it from the vehicle was not aware that on the 1989-1995 4runner 4x4 automatic the Transmission and the 4x4 transfer case are a single unit, they tried to separate the transfer case (which makes sense on 80% of the other 4x4s out there) and cracked the casing, I called and explained this to Q.U.T. and they said they would be sure to alert the yard pulling the next one to be sure they didn't try and separate the transfer case.. hey $h1t happens, I didn't know they were not separate units myself, and was surprised that the transfer case came with the transmission in the first place. on my GMC they are definitely 2 separate parts.

Since the paperwork and the emails I had said that I had to register the transaction online in order for the warranty to work, that was the first thing I did. So when I called in that the original transmission was cracked, "Scott" immediately sent a replacement, the replacement actually arrived in 2 days, and that was the hic-cup, the trucking company delivered the wrong transmission to my mechanic, and sent my 4runner transmission to another shop, the paper work was all correct, but the transmission on the pallet that arrived was the wrong unit and even had the wrong tracking info on one of the 2 labels. I called Scott and he checked into it, I refused the delivery and waited a few more days and called back, Scott informed me the issue had been figured out and was waiting for my transmission to come back from the trucking company and he would send it out as soon as they had it back, it took 2 extra weeks for the unit to be returned and reshipped.

The second unit was installed and is working well, once I had all the paperwork from the mechanic, I called Scott and requested the labor refund, he asked me to fax over my invoices, which I did and 3 days later I had a refund on my credit card.

The whole ordeal did take 4 weeks, but in all honesty it was about what I expected, locating a used transmission for a '95 4runner 4x4 automatic is problematic in the first place, they are hard to come by, it sucked that someone cracked the first one, but as I said $h1t happens.

all in all the transaction was basically smooth, though it took a bit of time, but I was calm and courteous to them and they returned the professionalism to me.

I think a lot of people don't read, don't follow instructions, and then call in angry and unprofessional expecting that their ranting and complaining will get things handled, then leave bad reviews because of their own lack of understanding or follow-thru.

I knocked off one star only because of the hic-cup and the fact it took an extra 2 phone calls and 2 weeks to get things resolved, but I was not unsatisfied or unhappy with how it was handled.

Ordered and received used tranny submitted for warranty and haven’t heard anything in 3 months. Called spoke to Dale in warranty dept they “can’t find my order”. 3 more calls same nonsense. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND STEER CLEAR-too many other tranny places to deal with these BOZOS!!!!their existence is their punishment

I got a transmission for my 98 gmc and when installed the transmission would not take 2nd or overdrive so I contacted quality used transmissions to do a warranty claim in about a week I had a replacement transmission when installed it works great. Then we contacted them again to do a labor claim for the installation it took a week or 2 but they payed for the installation I had a good experience with this company and will use them again

"Save your money, don't buy from Quality Used Transmissions"

I ordered a transmission from this company and it didn't last two weeks and they would not honor the warranty on it. It was installed by a mechanic who is also a professor that teaches auto mechanics at the local college. If you enjoy getting screwed, do business with Quality Used Transmission!!!

paid 730.00 for used transmission within 2 month 3rd and 4th gears were slipping called Alex got a standard answer that proves they do not honor thier warranty do not do business with this new Jersey wrecking yard shop local

"Nothing but trouble"

After dealing with them for over 2 months I finally received a refund.
The transmission that was shipped to me did not work and was shifting really hard. I had several other people call for a price on a transmission and got the same story each and every time. They had just one left of what was needed and with about 62000 miles on it.
When the transmission shop removed the oil pan it had a lot of metal and clutch plate material in it.
Note: KEEP YOUR INSTALLATION REC, the Rec for Transmission Fluid and Filter.
Without it they will not give a Refund.
I will NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AGAIN !!!!

it's been a year since I've been robbed by quality used transmission, their business practices are awful. Watch out, Dale is the worst.

"Sold me a bum transmission.."

This place is the worst. They sold me a "warrantied" transmission without a torque converter. Then the transmission was broke. This place is impossible to get ahold of. But will take your money very quickly. They have zero customer service. It's just s handful of men, Scott inpaticular. They are frauds. Do not go to them if you need a transmission. They sell junk yard and none of it is guaranteed like they say it is. Complete frauds.
