"Decent home, several issues."

We were excited to take a socially distanced/isolated trip with our kids (4&2).
Pros:
-pretty easy beach access. About a 1/4 mile. We were able to carry both kiddos + all their beach paraphernalia without too many issues.
-spacious home, ranch style, easy to navigate. Pet friendly.
-when contacted re: issues people were kind/tried to be helpful
-fenced in back yard with grass (and AstroTurf)
-beautiful pool&spa. (Particularly loved the large ledge where the kids would have been able to sit and play in the shallow water easily.)
-home appeared clean for the most part

Cons:
-large sliding door windows off the living room (3 sets). No curtains. Felt people could be looking right in at us. Front door too, was made of glass. So seeing right in was super easy.
-found a large roach in the home. (Dead)
- put in emergency work order questions in the morning that weren’t followed up with all day and needed me to place a phone call the following day.
-tv broken in one bedroom (the one we wanted to hook our video game system
Up for the kiddos to play their wii 😅) (disclaimer- we could have had this looked at or replaced if needed. However we have some circumstances that really make us feel like isolating as much as possible during covid so we opted to leave it broken and accepted they wouldn’t come in the home)
-living room tv to isn’t on proper setting so despite being large, it’s not a great picture and just looks wonky.
-WiFi went out a couple times (but restarted by unplugging connection and plugging in again)
-we communicated with five star via phone & email about desire to have pool heated. We understood the pool takes 24+ hours to heat so we were patient. Water not warming. Contacted five star. They said they’d send someone to look. Next day still
Cold. Contacted five star. Said the owner remotely started the pool heat. Next day still cold. Contacted five star. They contacted the vendor to look. Finally started to heat on Saturday. (We arrived Monday and left Monday at 3 am) so it was pretty much useless by the time it was hearing for us properly. You pay $75/day to heat the pool which is excessive to begin with. However, this fee was waived for us after all the issues regarding the pool/heat.
-communication should have been better regarding issues with the home + pool. I’m pretty flexible if you keep me
Up to date. I felt that I was not kept in the loop about much without me following up myself for updates.
-one of the beach access key fobs didn’t work. Which we didn’t know until we got to the beach. Yes it’s only a quarter mile away but with heavy kiddos who wanted to be carried + all their junk they “need” at the beach, it’s a lot to walk down there. Was frustrating to have to run home and leave antsy kiddos wanting to go to the beach.
-light switches seemed dirty - but was able to Clorox wipe most of the gunk off.
-furniture and home worn in many places
-there’s an ice maker! (But it looked pretty dirty and the ice scoop that everyone uses is just right in there. With covid that’s just not my thing right now)
-the pool vendor came by to clean pool + add salt. As a renter we should be made aware of when people are coming to
The home. Esp with dogs - had they opened the gate our dogs would have escaped. Again, boils down to not the best communication.
-master tun drain broken
-there appeared to be a camera in the backyard by the door. Five star informed me cameras aren’t permitted except a Ring doorbell. I wasn’t too excited about the thought of a camera (or what we thought was a camera) in the back.

Manager Anthony seemed sympathetic to our situation. Awaiting to hear back about poor stay. Rented home solely for pool. Could have rented any other home in the area. But was stuck there with a 60* pool 5 of our 7 days. My kiddo was so in love w the pool+spa&wants to stay again. I *might* stay again bc I’ll do anything for my boys. Hopefully things would be better.

Beautiful home...well appointed and very
spacious! Very nice bathrooms. Extra care taken to show the home is clean. So very convenient to the beach and also so close to the Seaside Shops!

"3 star house, 5 star location"

3 star house, 5 star location

You can’t beat the location of this house. Right on the beach. There’s even a hammock out by the dunes right in front of the house. The pool is great. The hot tub is great. The outdoor spaces are great but...

The house itself could use many repairs and upkeep. For the price you pay, they can afford to shut down for a day or two and make these small repairs that would significantly make guest experiences better.

Issues
- There was a door without a handle that led to a deck. Difficult to use and enjoy the deck each day with no handle.
- This same bedroom also had a closet that was off the hinges. Wouldn’t close properly and was hitting/ in the way of the entrance door since the closet door was broken.
- Many batteries in remotes needed to be replaced.
- Game systems (Atari and Nintendo) needed screwdrivers to remove dead batteries
- In the kitchen the main drawer that held all of the utensils, the track was not properly screwed in so the drawer just falls down into the cabinet below.
- The elevator wouldn’t not properly open on the first floor from the outside. Sometimes you would have to get a stick to push the pin up to release lock to access it. Works fine from the inside but if you called it to the 1st floor it (50/50 chance) wouldn’t open.
- The AC/ Heat on the 2nd floor did not work. The system sounded like it was working but nothing was coming out of the vents.
- The fireplace just blows hot air up into the tv. Doesn’t heat up the living room at all... or that’s just another thing that was broken.


The People
- The maintenance team came out the next day after I reported all the issues and were really helpful! But in reality there was nothing they could do to fix the issues.
- The support team was great too when our door code refreshed randomly the next day to one that didn’t work.

Cleanliness
- In searching for a missing fan remote under a bed we found a plastic cup left there. Along with about 3 other random pieces of trash under beds that were not cleaned up.
*** ALL TOWELS WERE PACKAGED FRESHLY
*** ALL LINENS HAD A PAPER SLIP OVER THEM ENSURING THEY WERE NEW

Overall
At first look the house looks newly updated, fresh, nice but it’s more of a facade. The location is great. There is tons of parking and the games by the pool help keep things fun. Definitely needs some proper updates.

We had a wonderful time & honestly can’t wait to come back. The only thing was they were working on our balcony & that whole side so we had ropes hanging in front, but that was it.

"Worst experience with a rental company!"

I have had such a horrible experience with this rental company. We booked a house with 7 bedrooms in August of 2020 for a stay in July 2021. At the time of booking I was told over the phone if the house became unable to rent they would give us options to change to a different house with the same amount of rooms. I received an email in January 2021 saying that the house we booked had been sold and they no longer had access to rent the house. They gave me options that only had 4-5 bedrooms to transfer our reservation too. When I told them none of those options would house my entire family and gave them the only two options on their site that had the same number of rooms for the same dates they told me I would have to pay the difference because those houses were more costly. Well of course they’re more costly because they’re closer to the date of stay and we had booked months ago. Their rental agreement states that they’ll find a home within the same price but not size so be aware of that if you book with them. They never apologized for ruining our family vacation and now we’re stuck scrambling to find another home. I wouldn’t suggest this company to my worst enemy.

"Bad experience at Silver Beach PH 1901W"

I spent 5 nights last week at Silver Beach Penthouse 1901W and was shocked by the dirty worn out living room and patio furniture in this rental. I can't believe that the owner or manager thinks these furnishings are acceptable. The motorized curtains were old and only some of them functioned. I gave 2 stars as the bedrooms were ok but the living room furniture was repulsive and ruined our stay. I could not recommend this unit in its current condition to anyone.

"Needs to be updated and maintained"

The home on the outside was a beautiful home right on the beach. The problem we had with the home it was not well maintained and needed to be updated. We had lots of problems. The management at Five star was very understanding and offered compensation.
