I have been very impressed with True Traveller Insurance from when the policy was purchased right through to making a claim. The information on the website made it easy to select the correct policy for our high altitude trek in Nepal (Mera Peak at 6476m). As we were already in Nepal, I was particularly appreciative of the option to arrange additional cover as someone already travelling. The company were aware of the specific considerations required for high altitude trekking in Nepal, which proved very useful when one person began suffering from acute mountain sickness at 5000m. The team in the UK were experienced with the dynamics in Nepal and were willing to communicate with us as and when we were able (either via our trekking company based in Kathmandu, or with us directly when there was electricity, data connection, WiFi). The Inherent Risks team member, Mike, was reassuring, knowledgeable and able to liaise with the Nepal-based team. Due to weather, a helicopter evacuation was not possible on the first day of illness, but the team explored other options and were also able to give good advice regarding symptom management. Even with the time difference, I was always able to communicate with the UK-based team who were monitoring weather and flying conditions. As soon as the weather was clear, a helicopter was arranged from Lukla to take our team member to a hospital in Kathmandu for assessment. True Traveller coordinated all logistics/ payments (for helicopter/treatment) which meant we could concentrate on the health and wellbeing of our team member. Once our team member was in Kathmandu, he received regular contact and support. The claims team made contact via email which was prompt and clear, but not insensitive given someone had been unwell. It was easy to submit a claim and the reimbursement for the oxygen cylinder at 5000m was processed within 24 hours. I highly recommend True Traveller insurance and will definitely be using them again for any future high altitude mountaineering in Nepal. Thanks to everyone for the support, care and expertise as we navigated acute mountain sickness in a remote area!

"Quick effective True Traveller claims process"
I've taken out True Traveller insurance 3 times now, initially attracted because you can start the policy after you've left the UK and are already travelling, and because even given that advantage the prices remain competitive with other travel insurance providers. I've just had to make my first claim (for a medical accident/injury), and was very impressed by how quick and effective the online claims submission process was; and by how quickly the agent assigned my case got back to me by email and approved payment. The whole process from filing the claim to receiving reimbursement to my bank account took less than 48 hours, which is extremely helpful when you're travelling on a budget and have had to pay the initial costs yourself. I would definitely recommend True Traveller and will surely use them again :-)

The agents I have spoken to have been super fast and super effective. A small mistake was made with the conversion, and they corrected it immediately. I also had to make two claims related to the same incident, and was very impressed that they deducted the excess just once, because the two claims were related. Amazing and efficient service :)

Customer service via email was super helpful. Patrik replied to my queries swiftly. They were also understanding if special circumstances that I thought might affect my claim.
The only annoying thing was when I had to make a claim twice because the first one hadn’t gone through.
