"Painful process"

It was very difficult getting someone to reply to my phone call initially. I chased for a number of weeks.
I eventually got an appointment. I just needed a letter on headed paper to go out. All the preparation was done. I was promised the letter by the end of the week, but that did not happen. So I had to chase again, finally a letter went out.

For what you have to pay for a letter, you should not go through so much hassle.
