"Never Again"

In my opinion, this is the worst company I’ve every dealt with. I usually don’t even do these online reviews. Erik’s Bike Shop has the worst communication I’ve ever experienced; they couldn’t seem to e-mail me back or answer any of my calls. Now when I get my mid-grade product I have to pay nearly half the price I payed for the bike, for shipping. I have no intention from ever buying from this company or even possibly recommending to a potential buyer. If one even mentions this company I would strongly urge that they reconsider that option.

Humbly.

"Took payment but didn't deliver"

I ordered from Erik's to support small biz during the pandemic, but while they took my payment, they didn't deliver the product for 3 weeks. Then, told me it was out of stock. I've been trying to get alt product or refund for 1 week. Instead, I only get slow, vague responses.

"Scam!"

Ordered an item April 14th which I was charged for right away. Followed up a week later since I had not heard back. Tried to contact them for a follow up with a phone number listed on their website for online orders but they never answer the phone. Left a voicemail and also send multiple emails. Finally they emailed me back saying that this is a special order and if I still want the item. They also stated that they send me an email in regards to this on the 15th which I never received and it was not in my junk mail. I said yes I want the item and they said I should receive by April 30th. Today is April 30th and I called, and of course no one answered per usual, so I started a chat which after a very long wait they replied to the chat and stated that "they are hoping that the item gets shipped next week." Well I'm not so hopeful and I'm about to cancel this order. I just hope that I get my money back.

"I appreciate Erik's making it right in the end."

I ordered a ski jacket online and paid for 2nd day shipping. On day 2 I called Erik's since I hadn't received shipping confirmation. I let them know I was leaving Friday Am on a ski trip. I was told not to worry, they would ship it overnight..that never happened. Jacket showed up on day 5 after I left.. I can buy a jacket at any ski shop, won't be Erik's next time, they let me down.

"Bike fit service - lessons learned"

I am an experienced road cyclist that had the bike fit in 2015 together with the purchase of a new S-Works Roubaix. For me, this bike fit was counterproductive. In the last four years I have reversed most of the bike fit choices that were made then in order to get more conformable and efficient on the bike.

I will objectively break this down into (1) feet, (2) saddle position, and (3) handlebar position.

Feet - I left the bike fit with standard length spindles (Speedplays), Specialized high arch (+++) shoe inserts and 1.5 degree shims. This caused considerable discomfort on the outside of my feet on long rides. I now have ++ spindle length, standard arch (++) inserts, and no shims. It's worth noting that the bottom bracket Q-factor on that Roubaix is lower than the Q-factor on a Shimano system and would have required a longer peddle spindle to compensate.

Saddle position - The fit did a good job here. No complaints.

Handlebar position - I left the bike fit with a stubby, 45 degree stem which, besides looking odd, forced me to ride on the drops as the comfortable cruising position. Otherwise the upright position put a lot on discomfort on the back of the saddle. I now have a stock S-Works 60mm stem.

Lessons learned - In retrospect, it was a mistake to have a bike fit on a brand-new bike that I had not already ridden. I did bring my current bike as a reference, but no interest was given to that. If I had ridden it with my pre-fit setup, I would have come equipped with some talking points and the setup would have been deltas rather than "from scratch". Similarly, I put too much faith in the "science" and less in having a discussion. In the end, the fit is only as good as the feedback the rider provides. Third, I waited far too long to admit that the fit was a bad idea and changes were needed.

"I took my bike to get a gyro system put…"

I took my bike to get a gyro system put on and they end up calling me a week later saying they can’t fit a brake cable to my bike ?and on top of that they scratched up the paint around the neck and didn’t tell me . I called and all she had to say was I tried to convince you not to get it but yet they said they could do it. I am very upset with the service and will never buy another bike or get service there. They lucky I don’t take them to small claims court for damages. I will be putting this on social media so other don’t go through this.

"I bought my first real good bike from…"

I bought my first real good bike from Erik's 9 yrs ago, in Coon Rapids, Mn. They were great. Now we live closer to Rosedale so we go there. They're also great.
The girl I met the first time I walked in was super friendly. Tyne guy I met in back, Joe, was also very nice. The other guy, Steve, was also very nice. He helped me pickup some lights and a bike bag.
Then later a different girl showed me some gloves and a cell phone holder.
All in all everyone was very nice and very helpful. Yes I would definitely return for tune ups or whatever I needed.

"We had to pay for shipping for our E-…"

We had to pay for shipping for our E- Bikes from Erika when Raleigh had the same identical bikes with free shipping. We also had to wait way more than the 3-4 days to receive the bike at the dealer. One of 2 bikes were damaged and still waiting for it to be fixed. Sad they are running their internet office this bad!

"Wrong item sent to wrong coast"

This is an updated review. I had originally given a one-star review because I used website to order XL cycling leg warmers to be sent to California and received a small woman's bicycling helmet instead intended for a woman in New York. The instructions to return the incorrect item stated I would be responsible for the shipping charges. After posting my one-star review and complaining about having to be responsible for shipping back their mistake, I was promptly contacted by customer service who apologized for the mistake, and refunded the return shipping charges to me. So, they owned their mistake and did everything to make it right. Still leaving a low two-star review because even though I understand mistakes happen, this is the first time in over 20 years of hundreds of online orders from multiple dozens of companies that I have ever received the wrong item.
