"Do not purchase from smartxdirect"

I have given smartxdirect 1 star even though it deserves zero. As many others are saying they will take your money, but do not deliver goods. They do not respond to emails and their chat system is unreliable. However, if you persevere someone will become available via their chat system.

I have spoken to Smartxdirect via their online chat and have agreed to clarify remarks I made against a company that is used to transact money from smartxdirect. Due to the difficulty in communicating with smartxdirect, I carried out a little research on the transaction between smartxdirect and how my money had been deducted from my account.

The information I researched was based on the following and has been copied from my paypal statement in order that no misleading information is given.

The telephone number is no longer in operation, even though it appears on the credentials.Similarly, the link gadgetdigitals does not work. (http removed and directlink to email due to restrictions of trustpilot)

Smartxdirect have informed me they wil give me a refund if I remove misleading remarks based on A & B International ltd. They state that A & B International are the transaction company. The implication is A & B international ltd is a seperate entity to them.

The online chat I had gave me the impression they wished to distance themselves from A & B International even though my paypal account clearly states they were the seller I dealt with. Is there any direct link between the directors of smartxdirect and A & B International ltd. I have no evidence there is.

I do know that paypal have clearly indicated they were considered the seller of the item I wished to purchase. I hope that clarifys any misunderstandings as I do not wish to be misleading with my review. I also know that companies house states the following regarding A & B international ltd. It lists the company status as

Active — Active proposal to strike off.

It is the readers responsibility how to interpret that. I have simply copied the information companies house have on the company that paypal inform me is the seller of the goods I wished to purchase. However, let me reiterate, the website I put my order through was smartxdirect. There was no indication that any other seller was involved.

Regarding misleading comments, I find it Ironic that during the most recent of online chats with smartxdirect, I felt concern that I was being mislead over delivery dates. At that point I stated that I would like a refund. The person carrying out the chat stated that he would issue the refund when I had edited the review as it was felt my original review was misleading in relation to A & B International. I stated clearly, that the refund I would like was not negotiable on the basis of my review of smartxdirect. I certainly will not negotiate my expectation of a full refund on an item I have yet to recieve and has not even been despatched. I want a refund due to my mistrust of the item I had purchased being delivered in a timely manner if at all (I have waited for 12 days and it still has not turned up - they tell me it will be delivered next tuesday which will be 16 days after I purchased it and the 3rd delivery timetable they gave me) the first was Christmas eve, the 2nd stated date was Friday 27th December (the day I write this review) the last date I have been given is Tuesday 31st January.

A few days ago just before Christmas Day I noticed that smartxdirect chat was working. I copied the transcript that informed me my goods would be delivered by special post Friday 27th December. NOTE: I attempted to use the chat box email transcript which fails to work. As a backup I copied the transcript using another means. If the goods get delivered I will be surprised. As it stands I am unhappy with the service Smartxdirect provide.

This following statement has been copied from smartxdirect website:

Most items listed on the website are in stock. When items are in stock, we will dispatch your order within 24 to 48 working hours in our working days. In case we need to contact you or obtain further information from you to verify an order, we will notify you within 1 working day after you have placed the order. Under unforeseen circumstance that items are not in stock, your order will not be able to dispatch in 24 to 48 working hours, please allow us 2 to 4 working days extra for restocking the items of your order. If your order cannot be dispatched within 5 - 7 working days, we will inform you by email with an explanation as well as an estimated dispatch date.

To clarify my position so as not to mislead the reader, the item I attempted to purchase did not indicate it was out of stock. All indications it was in stock and ready for despatch on the next working day. Clearly that was not the case.


I originally stated I was getting concerned with paypals ability to monitor companies who they use. Paypal are a trusted name and any company that is allowed to use their system as a means of transaction has be completely robust. I have read review after review that indicates smartxdirect have an incredibly poor reputation in their ability to deliver goods.

To summarise: Smartxdirect cannot be trusted to deliver goods on time. It probably stems around an effective online store front that is managed by a poor and inefficient transaction system. I.E

1) Easy to navigate online shop
2) Effective transaction system (card details and money gathering)
3) Let down by a poor stocking level database
4) Let down by poor customer services
5) Let down by poor communication service between the transaction service providers, customers and online shop
6) Poor despatch system that is ineffectively linked to stocking control where items can be quickly located and sent to customers as quickly as possible.

In a sentence, Smartxdirect are an immature website dealing in technology goods. They are cheap and are probably working on the very extreme of margins. The biggest problem they have is that their online store front is far superior than to their transaction system. It is a recipe that will only result in poor customer confidence.

"Ordered watch on the 3 rd of December…"

Ordered watch on the 3 rd of December arrived on the 20th. Long delivery should of only took 7 days most. Other hand watch was in excellent condition and was new. Box and packaging is fabulous lovely Christmas present for partner. Highly recommend just order a couple of weeks in advance to be sure of arrival when needed.

Apart from taking 2 and a half weeks and 2 chasing emails I finally received my item and am very pleased with it.

"Good service and product - Turns out its faulty"

This is the second time we’ve used smart x direct to buy a mobile phone. I bought an iPhone 7 which was dispatched and delivered on time. It is in immaculate condition and I’m happy with the purchase.

Update - Phone is faulty
Further to my previous review, having given the phone to my son as an xmas gift, it has turned out to be faulty (the touch screen keeps failing to work). Now awaiting resolution from Smart X Direct who, interestingly, have claimed the phone was ‘unopened’ when sent to me, despite it arriving without a box.
