We employed smiths conservatories to build our conservatory in July 2017, the company made us aware we needed planning permission & informed us that they would take care of the planning application. After 8 weeks our planning permission had been accepted & the company started the building work pretty much straight away. 6 weeks later everything was completed exactly as we had been told & how we had expected it to. Smiths really knew what they were doing & all there workman were very professional.

Smiths rebuilt my conservatory within 2 days, I can now use the room throughout the year. Everyone at The company we found were polite & professional. GOOD LOCAL COMPANY

If I had read some of the reviews on this site before I had this company change my windows I would not have used them. Please think hard before you do, it is true you get what you pay for.

"Abosolute terrible service Smiths windows in Basildon essex"

Abosolute terrible service had lots of issues with installation and 4 weeks later still keep getting different excuses as to why they can’t come out and fix my issues. Would not advise anyone to use this company. They kept ringing me to get my business and then payment. Now there are problems they really don’t care. Now 5 weeks on I have had 2 no shows by smiths to correct my work then finally someone did arrive and only do half of my issues, then I get a different man arrive to correct the rest of my issues only to make them worse. Then the final straw I get a phone call from them this morning 12th of February by a man claiming to be the customer care manager. Who had no idea of any of my issues so I told him them all. He then proceeded to lie through his back teeth and try and sell me a conservatory. But I have photos emails. Text messages etc to prove everything I am saying. He is supposed to be calling me back on Thursday I can not wait.

"Immense Frustration"

Final work seems satisfactory but the stress involved to completion certainly took the shine off. A catalogue of misinformation and many wasted hours trying to get through to Head Office and waiting in for no show builders. Whenever I did manage to get through to the installation office, the staff were extremely rude. A new manager did finally oversee my project and appeared to be trying to improve standards within the company but by this time I had lost all trust.

Update : the final work turned out to be totally unsatisfactory - the new tiles have fallen off the roof! The new manager who promised so much does not even respond to my messages and calls and appears to have relinquished all responsibility for the project so I have emailed the service dept as suggested in Smith’s reply to my original review. I am not hopeful of a good outcome to this sorry saga.

"fantastic service and product"

We've just had 4 windows and a front door fitted and I can't tell you how pleased we are! From start to finish the service has been brilliant and the product itself is amazing. The fitters were fantastic and worked so hard to get the job done quickly minimizing disruption to us, the finish they have done is of the highest standard. I look forward to smiths fitting the windows and doors in our extension.

"Probably the worse company I have ever…"

Probably the worse company I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Signed a contract in October for the installation of a conservatory and paid the deposit so we could have a guaranteed Christmas installation, survey was then done mid October, this was then followed by 3 months of hell. First they said we needed planning permission and it would be £750. No we don't need planning permission and if we did its only £175. Nice try.
I then spent months chasing them for a start date without any response, was finally told mid January (3 months later!!) They had misquoted and it wasn't "commercially viable" for them to proceed. Took another 4 weeks to get my deposit back and unbelievably during this time I had several calls form their sales team trying to sell me their products! I would rather have no windows or doors than use this company.
