In the last year or so, the trading platform previously know as Selftrade, transitioned to become Eqi. Eqi has subsequently made good improvements and matured to provide a stable trading platform with some features often only found within some of the larger trading platforms. The overall costs are not the cheapest but offer a fair value for the services it provides.

"Unprofessional Dealings"

I was particularly annoyed that when I enquired about the corporate action for IAG earlier this year, I was told by EQI on the Wednesday before the option closed on I believe was the following Monday or Tuesday that they knew nothing about it. Late on the Friday they sent out an email that needed if I remember correctly needed to be actioned the following Monday. I missed the email and the opportunity to take up my options. To my mind they should have been more proactive. I am currently in the process of moving my CDI's elsewhere and plan to move my Shareview CDI's to certificated stocks as the two are merging portfolio's in the new year

"Eqi - if you are looking for a new broker, then worth considering"

Eqi is a good dealing platform with fairly reasonable charges, not necessarily the absolute lowest available, but not far off.

I have used there services for both a dealing and stocks and shares ISA for about 15 years now, but there have been a few changes in name over that period, having been previously known as Selftrade for quite some time.

The website has been revamped and now has a fairly modern feel that is reasonable intuitive to use, better than some most of the competition.

They have a good selection of stock exchanges for trading and their support services are very good. In all the time I have been dealing with them I have had no real issues.

Although, I have not personally used this service, they also offer SIPP pension accounts.

If you are looking for a new broker, then Eqi is certainly worth considering.

"Disappointing and extremely poor service from EQi"

My son's CTF has been transferred to another provider for a Junior ISA since early September. I was subsequently contacted in October by EQi regarding a delisted share that was in the account and to confirm that I was happy to gift this share to charity, in which I gave the go ahead. A couple of days later I received another call informing me that the transfer should not have occurred as they cannot gift the delisted share in the account and only my son has the right to authorise this once he hits 18.

We have topped up my son's account with the new provider and invested into several funds. EQi are now chasing the new provider to return the investment and money that was transferred over.

I have spoken to EQi several times have been told they will investigate this matter and will find a way of gifting the delisted share to charity and will also contact the new provider to take no action until they finalise their investigation.

I never did hear back from EQi, but I did receive a letter confirming that my son's CTF is now closed. So I was thinking the matter is finally over.

Today I receive an email from the new provider informing that EQi has been chasing them to return the investment and money. Immediately I called EQi and again as promised they will look into it. The same promise that was made nearly 4 weeks ago.

I cannot see an end to this, so I’m sharing my experience in the hope that this will never happen to anyone else.

"Very poor customer interaction"

I have told EQi several times via their email contact to take me off of their mailing list and cancel all communications to me.
But they do not do as I ask. They need to put an unsubscibe option at the end of their e-mails.
They are not wanted by me

"For reasons I cannot fathom"

For reasons I cannot fathom , I am unable to check balances , nor trade on-line My codes do not work . Oh well . Result ? I have to pay more in commission .
I have to pay for correspondence .

EQI provides an excellent service for the individual investor. Trading is easy and the site enables the investor to dig deep into their portfolio. Recommended.

"Trying to withdraw funds"

Aweful. Site one of the most difficult and frustrating ever experienced. Trying to process payment to me of MY money from a share sale for over two weeks. Made to provide excessive details of my specified on line account at Barclays Bank for receipt of the funds only to then be told I had to supply a direct debit instruction from the bank to pay money in! One star only because responses to me were more polite than mine to them.

Good service. Easy to operate online.
