"EQI share dealing service"

I find that EQI provide an excellent service. I would recommend their services to anybody who needs a quick and efficient share dealing service. I have been a customer for a number of years and everything has always gone smoothly.

"Way too expensive"

Way too expensive, charged to buy, charged to sell, exchange rate fees for buying AND selling are astronomical, quarterly fees. Not worth it unless your objective is to buy and hold only.
I struggle to understand why EQi forces me to automatically convert USD proceeds of sale to GBP (and charging a fee in the process). Other companies allow you to hold the foreign currency so you can elect to either a) trade in USD again (without yet another conversion fee) or b) choose when to convert it yourself based on the forex market.

I find EQI provides everything I want from an inventment platform: efficient and economic dealing, reporting and custody. The website is easy to use and gives access to plenty of information. It is also responsive to suggestions for improvement and queries are answered swiftly and courteously.

Good Points: You can see all your EQI accounts (eg ISA, Dealing, SIPP) together so it's easy to keep track of all your share holdings. The online service works well for UK shares, but less well for overseas shares (see below). The telephone service can be a slow to answer, but the staff are generally knowledgeable and helpful.

Not such Good Points: EQI has suffered from an ongoing IT problem in buying and selling certain overseas shares online, which they appear to be unable to resolve. The system has the facility to send failed online orders to a dealer, but frustratingly this system also fails, with the result that such trades have to be placed by telephone, often with lengthy delays.
EQI also has no support for foreign currency accounts, resulting in significant foreign exchange conversion costs every time overseas shares are bought or sold.

Conclusion: I have stayed with EQI (and its predecessors) for over twenty years, and overall the service is very good. I would have rated EQI as five stars, but I reduced it to four stars because of the problems with trading certain overseas shares and the lack of foreign currency accounts.

If you made your offer as good as HL, you wouldn't have to charge to park money.

I'm moving over my L-ISA from a cash L-ISA to EQi's L-ISA so that I can access their wealth of Stocks and ETFs. They appear to have the most comprehensive, even when compared to the likes of Hargreaves Lansdown. Particularly, when I saw that they have the ARKK ETF I was sold!!
