Closing account took 7 months. Communication with this company was numerous, unhelpful, frustrating and fruitless. They kept ignoring my requests and not replying to my enquiries.

"Total rubbish"
Selftrade took over responsibility for my Lloyds Bank ISA last October. I contacted them last week to find out when the latest dividend would be paid, and was told that dividend would no longer be paid,but would be added to my account, unless I requested otherwise. When I made this request, I was told my nominated bank account had to be validated, even though it had been the same bank account I had used for over 7 years. I therefore had to send a blank cheque to facilitate validation. In addition, the website is difficult to navigate, messages cannot be read, and I have found it impossible to send emails.

"Selftrade sold all the US stocks in my …"
Selftrade sold all the US stocks in my son's CTF without notifying me by phone, email or via their secure mail facility. I incurred a large loss as they sold in Jan 2016. Apparently they did notify me by post that my W8-BEN form was expiring, which given they had my old postal address was not very helpful. I had sent my change of address by post and via their secure email in 2014, but they didn't receive my letter and didn't/couldn't act on the secure email. Truly awful service, I'm closing my account.

Sent Selftrade a tweet as per their request, they never responded. The standard response they put on these TrustPilot reviews is perhaps their way of looking like they care, whilst doing nothing.

"Money for old rope"
Has anyone else had a letter recently to say Selftrade have an amount of money owing to you? I withdrew money from a share ISA with Lloyds/Halifax when it was being transferred to Selftrade. Following on from that there was a small amount £8 paid into the account after it was closed. So I now don't have an account but if I did it would cost me £15 to pay in the £8. My other option is to let them pay it to a charity of their choice. So I asked if they would pay it to a charity of my choice but that seemed highly unlikely. I drew the line at the final option which was to open an account with them and they would pay it into that! I don't think so.

"The worst Customer Services ever."
I have sent 3 secure messages, emails and messages via "contact us" and I am still waiting for a response from customer services. I have run out of patience with them for a series of problems that they have claimed to have fixed but keep happening over and over again.
So I am now looking at other brokers and will move everything as soon as possible.
DO NOT USE THEM, THEY ARE RUBBISH, A DISGRACE !

"An Awful Service and Platform"
I would give Selftrade no stars if I could but one star is the minimum.
Selftrade is an utterly abysmal trading platform and service on so many different fronts I barely know where to begin. Firstly, the platform itself does not work properly and is poorly designed. It is extremely slow and there are still bugs in it. There have been too many problems for me to go into but inability to trade , specific issues with some shares , hanging , inaccurate information are just some. This leads me to an interlinked problem which is customer service which is absolutely appalling . rude agents who are unhelpful and lack knowledge. their first position is often denying the problem and then you need to send follow up emails to clarify . I had the mispleasure once of speaking to one of them and I can only say this person had a significant attitude problem and should be nowhere near customers.
My strong guidance is do not use Selftrade. I have now moved away from this shoddy , unprofessional outfit masquerading as a service . I have moved to Saxo Trader which is infinitely better and cheaper as well . the platform works, support is friendly and there is so much more information available and a much wider range of trading types

"I wish I had found this site before"
Selftrade customer service are pretty useless and I do not have confidence anymore for them to handle my account. Recently I requested via secure message to take part in an open offer. The secure message screwed up my request by removing spaces and concatenating numbers. I then rang customer service and they said they would put my request through manually. They did but ended up putting it through for a different No of shares than I had requested. After the offer my allocation of shares and excess money had not been credited to my account on the relevant day. I contacted customer services who blamed the registrars and said my account would be updated that day (and it wasn't). I contacted the registrars and they told me all brokers had been informed on the correct day. This is not the way I want my transactions handled and will be starting the transfer process for both my wife and I as soon as possible.

I would not give them 1 star. There web site is rubbish, malfunctions and still not come back to me after sending screenshots. Cannot view virtual portfolios or watchlists. Everything under prices and quotes does not come up properly..usable yet they do nothing not even contact me..totally pathetic. Transferring asap in new year . Put in official complaint.,. they cannot even handle that . Keep away from them!

"They don't even deserve one star"
Words almost fail me to describe how bad these people are. My father passed away just before his shares were transferred to Selftrade from Santander. Since then the problems have been endless, the calls to them too many to count, letters sent for next day delivery unactioned, share sale proceeds sat on for ages while excuse after excuse is given for not paying funds away. The experience has been horrendous. When I finally sell the last share I am NEVER going near these people again. Beyond awful.
